So who thinks that Obama is going to take away your bullets and guns? Should the Second Amendment be appealed?

I support the right to bear arms. But are assault weapons really necessary? If so why?
What impact does this assault weapons ban have on you? How can it possibly make your life SO miserable.

I just can't see what the big deal is.

I can't see what the big deal is either.

I don't think that Obama will take away any of my ammo or guns but the government may try to make it harder for people to get guns and ammo. As far as the second amendment being appealed (reversed), I don't think people will stand for it. Why should they?

I don't see what makes an "assault" weapon any less dangerous than any other weapon. Any firearm has the potential to assault someone if it is in the wrong hands. "Assault" weapons are no more necessary than any other firearm, car, television, cell phone, ipod, or any other material object. But that doesn't mean that people will stop wanting all of this useless crap. To make things even more clear they tell us that we live in a free society here in the states and our constitution went as far as to set aside the second amendment to be even more specific for those that can't quite grasp the idea of living in a free society.

As for me, I started purchasing guns late in life. I don't have a huge collection, nor do I want one. I got interested in the history of firearms just as I am interested in art, antiques and book collecting. The first gun that I purchased was an "assault" rifle for no other reason than the history and design of the weapon. I don't need it for hunting and I don't need it to join the militia (???) that the second amendment mentions. The simply satisfaction to enjoy any recreation that I choose is the fun of shooting to me and the idea of one group of people with guns (fully automatic assault weapons) denying others the right to own any kind of firearm is insane to me.

I am a law abiding citizen that has never committed anything close to a violent crime so I would be happy to give up all of my guns if my government (which has a history of wiping out and oppressing other cultures through violence) and our police (who also have a history of abuse and gun violence) would do the same, and give up their fully automatic assault rifles, semi automatic weapons and less-lethal weapons alike. Then we could all lock arms under the rainbow. Until then I will continue to be what the constitution defines as free.

well, we're military folk, and sometimes we use assault weapons on the range (if you have your own you don't need to go through all the bs of signing them out and facing lock down if a clip vanishes or something). My ex has several and he uses them to practice as do most of his friends, they are about to go on their 4th deployment so I say if they wanna practice, let em do it. Gun laws are stricter than many people give them credit for. My brother had a speeding ticked and couldn't buy a hunting rifle...
