Discussions

When I first joined blogcatalog I looked for art groups. Found two. Looked at a few discussions, made a comment here and there...for for some time little or no activity there. By anyone.

Find mainly discussions here in general discussions. Do find artists here. Anyone experience same with other Groups? Curious why?

Ralph-I just this minute viewed a writing discussion group. And I noticed there's been little recent activity there, too. So I'll wait and see what happens.

there is little to zero activity in most groups.. and where there is some activity, it is only a few guys doing bulk of the discussion..

Maybe people are lazy to search for the groups or some other reason like tha. I once suggested that there should be some sort of official groups for different categories like art, poetry, religion, comedy etc which could be linked up from the main page.. butI didn't get any enthusiastic response

You know what you guys should do?

Start POSTING on those Groups - and then send out a POST here in the discussion threads - and point people there --- That way you have advertising for the Group and may get other folks involved - especially new folks!

      way to go, wagerwitch!

I will try it with the History Group. It may also flush out people who have an interest in History but who have never looked at specialist Groups.

This is the same with most photography groups

Besides spamming, nothing else seems to be appropriate in group posting.

Maybe todays artists don't have much to say.

or maybe true blue artists are not really into forum discussion(except the very few who made it here and everywhere). they're rather do it in venues.i have friends who can't stand cyber culture. and these are the very people who make the best sculptures, paintings and designs that get reviewed nationally and internationally.

When I starting blogging, I looked for two Groups. I found the History Group easily and liked it, because of the breadth of the participants. They covered everything from Classical Greece and Rome.. to the 1939-45 war. Alas the History Group hasn't gone anywhere much for months.

The second Group I hoped for, Art History, didn't ever exist.

I understand what people in this discussion have said artists/writers/photographers about not being into forum discussion etc, but I don't have a huge amount of time to read blogs. Thus a concentrated cluster of relevant fascinating blogs, sharing together, would have been ideal.

I whiz in and out of here and don't always have time for more or remember to visit. Because I'm so involved with the art community in my town and with fellow artists I don't have a need for online discussions as much as those who might be more isolated artistically.
I am also spending less time on the computer (blogging, social sites etc) and working on a series of pieces for a show next year.

I have been so busy working that I have less and less time to be online. I keep updating my blog each day but as Jafa said, I am so busy at the art center and painting that there are not enough hours in the day to do too much more. It is a catch 22 because I have made some wonderful artist friends here.
