They changed the face of music but which Beatle's song is the greatest and why?
My favorite is Let It Be because I feel it's lyrics hold a spiritual element that has always affected me.

I'm one of those crazy people who never really saw what was so great about the Beatles...I think there are only 4/5 of their songs that I like!

I'm with you, but with a smaller number of songs that I like.

"Hey you got to hide your love away" a not so well known classic.

That song was written by John for the Beatles manager, Brian Epstein, who was gay at a time when homosexuality was illegal in England.

    Eleanor Rigby

    and why?
because of the double string quartet, the lyrics, it's just perfect
  6. mikeny07
Yeah, Eleanor Rigby is a masterpiece. Would have fit in well on the Sgt. Pepper album I think.

Lady Madonna and We Can Work It Out are two more classics.

Eleonor Rigby is a great song.
    "For No One"
    "Why My Guitar Gently Weeps"
    "And Your Bird Can Sing"
Are a few of my favorites.

I think I have many song from their collection I really like. It was popular, I hear, to say they were overrated back in the day, but they weren't over rated at all.

Have to admit. I can't choose a favorite. I have sentimental attachment to almost all of them.

Strawberry Fields Forever...perfectly captures the desire to go inside oneself to a place where everything's perfectly cool...while at the same time realizing that one can only be alone there...
  20. melindaville
I agree with Dr. Jay that Strawberry Fields Forever is a great song. Some of my other favorites include

Love Me Do (this is where you really see the early blues influence of the Beatles from their Rubber Soul album).

Back in the USSR-I just love a hard rocking song

    Let it Be--just a peace-filled, beautiful song.

If I Fell...The harmonic modultion to the intro would not have disgraced Beethoven. It's in G yet the opening chord in A Flat minor. Yet it all sounds like a perfect continuation, one theme flowing into the next.

My son recently got married. For the mother and son dance at the wedding he chose "In My Life." I cried and danced with my son, so that's my new favorite Beatle song.
