Honestly? I did like The Notebook
    1. csiunatc
Notebook is my all time favorite in the "chick flick" genre.
    2. fearless21
That movie made me cry it was so good.
    3. busylizzy
I will tell my hubby to Netflix it for me! Thanks for the recommendation!
    4. DangerMouse
      No problem
    5. HollytheHousewife
oh csi you need to have a talk with my husband (if your not jokeing about the notebook) I would kill for him to watch those kind of movies with me.
Although he does cry everytime old yeller comes on (ssshhh!) don't tell
anyone. That would be grounds for divorce if he knew I just shared that info.
    6. csiunatc
Holly, maybe you should start him on some "gateway" drugs.. Comedic romance, like Hitch, faliure to launch, etc. and work on him from there.

Do it right and he'll never know what hit him.
    7. HollytheHousewife
rotfl That's not a bad idea.
  2. kellybax
One of my favorites is 10 Ways To Lose A Man. Hilarious!
  3. crpitt
    Casino Royale

    1. DangerMouse
      "I love you, baby,
      And if it's quite alright,
      I need you, baby,
      To warm a lonely night.
      I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
      Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay
And let me love you, baby.
      Let me love you."
  5. sisterofmercy
I love the classics like My Best Friend's Wedding, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill.
    1. fearless21
Are you a Hugh Grant fan?
    2. sisterofmercy
Yeah, well I think he's a good English stereotype and I like his acting style.
    3. DangerMouse
on very few good English stereotypes! I like him too!
    4. Theresa111
      Hugh Grant is hot.
  6. ThriftShopRomantic
I'm not much of a chick flick girl. But I did get some good laughs out of "Calendar Girls" recently.

"We're going to need considerably bigger buns..."
    1. busylizzy
      Are you talking about me?
    2. LynneaUrania
Yes, you, Lizzy! We have just recruited you to be one of the BC Calendar Girls for 2010! Ready for your go-see that gives new meaning to the term?
    3. busylizzy
I'll have to run out and get a new bootilicious thong!
  7. LynneaUrania
"Notting Hill" is my all time favorite chick flick.
    1. Theresa111
I watched it over 100 times, along with Bridget Jones Diary and Contact. A Good Year is close becoming a tie with these.
  8. fearless21
I really like Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley (sp?). However, my all time favorite is A Room with a View (1986)...okay I am now showing my age!
    1. Theresa111
      wrong place
  9. HollytheHousewife
oh my lord! I can't believe none of yall said "steel magnolias"
It is the best way to get my hubby to clean out the garage.
That and if I throw in Gone with the Wind,I can get him to take
the girls out for the day.

    Gotta love those chick flix
    1. fearless21
      Those are two great flicks!
    2. busylizzy
I was just going to add Steel Magnolias!

BTW - I sometimes think of the last scene before the intermission on GWTW when Scarlett stands up in the field and vows to never go hungry again - this gives me strength and determination in my own life!
    3. HollytheHousewife
I know lizzy. I still just wanna kiss rhett when I hear the line
quite frankly my dear I don't give a damn. (Gosh he just so hot,you know the kind that melts in your mouth not in your hand kind of HOT) lol.
    4. HollytheHousewife
Oh my lord! I feel a chick flick day coming on. I think it's supposed to rain this weekend to.
Yup. My hubby is gonna be pissed at this thread.
    5. LynneaUrania
Didn't I read somewhere that the Actress who played Scarlett was trying her bestest not to throw up during that famous kiss?
    6. HollytheHousewife
are you serious lynn. She didn't wanna kiss him.
I know it was the very first movie with a cuss word in it "damn"
    7. LynneaUrania
That's what I had read, Holly. I can relate. There are lots of scenes in modeling and film studios where you have to pretend you are enjoying the ride, even if you loathe it. And everyone in Hollywood expects every kisser to be able to do it sexy.
    8. fearless21
      @Holly,
Here is to a good "Chick Flick", a bottle of wine and a few good friends. Send the husband hunting and gathering...mine goes flyfishing!
    9. msbaby
Yeah, it was a real romantic moment killer when I read how bad Clark Gable's breath was supposed to have been.
    10. Theresa111
Had I been Vivian Leigh (Scarlett) I would have said. "Clark Gable go and scrub you mouth and then chew on some parsley!" ... I hate foul smelling things.
  10. HollytheHousewife
    @ fearless
I do like p&p,but I like little women better. I know they're not really
alike, but they take place in the same era and I just like the love story between laurie and joe better.
    1. fearless21
I like little women too. My girls love watching it with me.
  11. Floormodel
Breakfast at Tiffany's, The way we were, The piano, Sleepless in Seattle, You've got mail... to name a few
    1. fearless21
I have never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's, I guess that is one for the rental list! Thanks.
    2. Theresa111
I love You've Got Mail! In fact that might be my favorite.
  12. busylizzy
An Affair to Remember (refered to in Sleepless in Seattle)
  13. faithsju243
Fight Club......kidding it was a good movie though did you see how ripped Brad was in that movie. It should qualify as chick eye candy.

But on a serious note my all time favoritest chick flick is Steel Magnolias.

    One of my favorite exhanges:
Truvy: I kind of like hiring somebody with a past.
Clairee: She can't be more than eighteen. She hasn't had time to have a past.
Truvy: Oh get with it, Clairee. This is the eighties. If you can achieve puberty, you can achieve a past.
    1. LynneaUrania
Until then, I doubt if anyone referred to "having a past" as an achievement.
  14. VampireFaust
It's a toss-up between "Legends of the Falls" and "Modigliani"
