Cheese, preferably a nice brie or camembert.

Or perhaps a Little Creatures Pale Ale/Pilsener/Rogers Beer. I find them pretty comforting, especially so when consumed in a large number.

Better than Velveeta and Mad Dog!

All these replies are so much more interesting than I anticipated! the media (magazines etc.) would have us believe that mashed potatoes and meatloaf are the most popular comfort foods.
    1. Anniepooh

Mmmmm, all these selections sound truly scumptious!!! Well, I am from Wiltshire in England and My choice would be a dish of traditional English "Bangers and Mash" (sausages and mashed potatoes). Mmmmmm, my mouth is watering just with the thought of it....

    Bangers and Mash

MORE! MORE! Did someone ask this already? Am I late? I hate to be redundant, so excuse me if I missed a prior discussion about this!
  16. ThriftShopRomantic
Oh, starchy things that are awful for me... Like mac-n-cheese (baked with breadcrumbs on the top-- yum!), or chicken-n-dumplings or... er... other things with "n" separating them, apparently.
  17. WokeupToday

korean food... that's like my soul food. Mmmmmm or Southern Comfort food like Fried Chicken, Mash Potatoes and Mac and Cheese.
    1. kdawg68
Korean BBQ and kimchi are the bomb!!!!
    2. legbamel
You put Southern Comfort in your mashed potatoes? Hmmm, I'd not thought of that ingredient. Usually I use cabbage for extra flavor.
  20. freeatlast
    anything made of potatoes
  21. bnsullivan
    Truly comforting:

Spaghetti/linguini/vermicelli (depends) with our "house" meat sauce, and shredded cheese on top (current fav is Tillamook cheddar, but it can vary).

But for a quick fix -- chocolate, of course.
  22. Puffmatty
    beeeeeeeeeeeer
  23. Anniepooh
Now I'm truly hungry and lost ... everything (except the BEER!) sounds great.
  24. genopianist54

  25. siahsmom
Bunny Tracks Ice Cream or Cheesecake - I haven't had that kind of "comfort" in some time but either one works the best for me. I'm in Maine
  26. robinj
    chocolate chip cookies
  27. JagerFoods
    Soup, of course.
  28. cpupulse
Arroz con pollo or rice and chicken in english, Brigadeiro which is a Brasilian chocolate rolled into a ball with chocolate sprinkles added to it. A good Churrasco , ahhh and mmmmmmm a Churro but the ones made in Miami are the best.I am in between Miami and Orlando at present and am Cuban American.
  29. Rozie818

  32. kristilinauer
    Tortilla chips with fresh salsa.
  33. FLOOG
Chocolate first and foremost, preferably those giant bars that are supposed to feed a family of four for a month, but which comfort me for an hour at best!

Pancakes with maple syrup and fruit also does the trick
  34. legbamel
Tuna Hot Dish. We eat it so much in the winter (once a week, as often as I dare make it) that I decided to make a Squidoo lens - www.squidoo.com/tuna-hotdish-recipe - with my family's preferred ingredients on it. So creamy, so squishy, so good. (It's nearly lunchtime. Could you tell?)
