Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Bee Gees.
The Grateful Dead had to grow on me, but once they did I find their music to be the best.
Their were just humble guys enjoying playing music. Their image was just a marketing strategy. Plus whenever they did an interview they were so very funny. Lots of concerts on DVD

From the 1980's: Depeche Mode(saw them), Duran Duran, Psychedelic Furs, New Order, Culture Club, Katrina and the Waves, Men at Work, The B-52's(saw them 2x), Tears for Fears, Robert Palmer, Bananarama, Bangels, Crowded House, Beastie Boys, English Beat, Go-Gos, Oingo Boingo(saw them), Talking Heads, The Police, Sting(saw him), Social D, Eurytmics, Genral Public(aka English Beat), INXS, OMD, Soft Cell, Simple Minds, Squeeze, Robert Smith from The Cure.
From the 1990s:No Doubt and or Gwen Stephani.... -
Oingo Boingo holds the #1 musical spot in my heart, and has for 20+ years. I love Paul Simon, They Might Be Giants (the older the better), David Byrne (with and without the Talking Heads), U2 pre-1990, The Clash, REM pre-1990, Barenaked Ladies pre-2003, the Violent Femmes, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones after 1992, Queen, Bing Crosby, and the Rat Pack.
I listen to just about anything that isn't country (and even some of that) or really hard-core rap. A lot of great bands are victims of their own success and their artistic voice collapses under the weight of popularity.
Wait - I forgot Michelle Shocked, Frente, Belly, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. -
According to my last.fm account:
Rocket from the Crypt, Alabama 3, Morphine, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tom Waits, Steve Earle, The Veils, The Black Keys, The Hold Steady, G. Love, Pixies, G. 3) Jesus Jones
4) Tragically Hip
5) Yes
And, that means liking 100% of their music. I also seem to like only 2 songs of Madonna (Ray of Light, Beautiful Stranger) and hate all her other stuff. Of course, I've got almost 800 different artists in my collection, tomorrow there could always be new favorites. -
