I'm a Trekkie and I have quite a collection of Trekkie goodies. Including the pride of my collection, a Paramount working script for the movie Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country which later became The Wrath of Khan. The original title was later used for another Star Trek movie.

It's not really a 'secret' hobby--but I am a musician and this is my primary hobby (other than writing--which is more than a hobby, really). I actually play every day--and when we are on the East Coast, my husband and I hold jam sessions for musicians each Saturday night, where everone brings her/his instrument and we play for hours.
After I quit heroin, I actually stopped playing music for about 5 years. I didn't touch my guitar--and didn't write any music. It's hard to explain--but I felt like playing in the band led, in part, to my heroin addiction.
Then, one day--I just picked up my guitar and started playing and I realized how much I missed it. I haven't stopped playing since.-
Sometimes association of something you love with something that harmed your life isnt a good thing, its great you got back into your love of music.
I find its good to have that release, mine is weight lifting...it takes me away from everything and gives me that energy and release I need!
I tried playing the guitar once, my friend and I started together...I gave up and he became a famous rockstar! Dont know if you have heard of Sergio Pizzorno and the band Kasabian...oh if only I stayed with the guitar lessons lol. -
I haven't heard of that band--but wow! You could have been famous mugshot!
It's great that you enjoy weightlifting. I work out almost every day and I find that to be a great stress reliever. I actually don't feel right unless I work out these days.
I am very glad that I was able to start playing music again (and that was quite insightful of you to take that from what I wrote).

My secret hobby, being that I try and keep it a secret from those I know personally, is poker. I've won a lot of money playing it. I've also lost a lot more money playing it.
There's that thrilling moment where you've pushed all-in and you know you have the nuts or somewhere close, and your heart starts to race, and the adrenaline kicks in, and when your opponent throws down his cards, you've got the hand and you throw down yours and take his whole bank roll. It's an amazing feeling... -

I don't have a secret hobby, but there are hobbies I don't mention incessantly.
I draw a lot, I'm learning to fight with nodachi (eventually I'm going to learn to fight with whips and unarmed as well), I LARP every week, and from time to time I make foam weapons for my LARP group. -

In the 1990s I collected action figures. Talk about a secret hobby! It was such a geeky thing, I told nobody. Actually, I was sort of speculating, thinking maybe these things might go up in value. Nope. Instead I have all this crap in a basement. I tried to acquire all the Playmate brand Star Trek figures. Maybe one day I’ll donate these toys to a charity. Funny, but I’d still hate to part with this stuff.

writing satires.
I know its not good to make fun of people or their emotions and their institutions but I am a little evil.-
Succeed in what capacity?
If your success requires significant intervention of others smarter and stronger than you, then yes, charisma and respect for emotion is absolutely necessary. However, if your success relies only on yourself and systems, not people, then you can afford to not give a good god damn what people feel.

Going to an upscale, hot bar every now and then but it's not a secret.
With so many types of paparazzis in the world, you don't have secrets anymore.
