around 70 if I really have something all figured out in my head. If I'm copying from a paper, not nearly as fast...maybe 45 or 50.
    1. richardworks
It seems like your not well use to copying from papers huh?
    2. richardworks
Oops..didn't notice about the title. sorry for the typo error..x_X
  2. siralmo
i type as fast as it took me to type this
    1. richardworks
      lols...=)
  3. Svelmoe
Not counting presses on backspace, I'd say I'm around 80 wpm.
Having worked with computers for many years, and spend a good deal of my youth chatting

(edit: unfortunately I can't spell all that well :o )
    1. richardworks
That's one good thing chatting can do to anyone. It increases their typing speed..=)
    2. Svelmoe
It also taught me how to use one of these Microsoft Natural keyboards - to the degree that now I can almost not type on a regular keyboard.
I just love these "split" keyboards :o

I even got my boss to buy me one for work back when I started. More codelines per minute hehe.

Edit: Actually - just took a sample test online and it was around 90-95 words, but it was more difficult because I had to read the text as I typed, and I know I type a heck of a lot faster when I know what I type......
I think I might actually break 100+ WPM when I am sure of what to type based on this.
  4. Anok
I don't know. How do you tell?
  5. richardworks
Take a typing exam. There are lots of typing software out there. Just look for a good one. Like typing master or others..=)
    1. Anok
      Oh...OK

Ugh, mine is about 43 words per minute when I copy from another text.

I am faster when I'm not copying, though.
    1. richardworks
      Great! just like mine..=)
  6. Theresa111
    I get the job done.
    1. richardworks
It would be much clearer if you could tell us your typing speed..=)
    1. richardworks
sweet.. I'm pushing my self to the limit to make it 70 WPM, but apparently I haven't yet succeeded..=(
  7. sensfaction
    I justr took a test 78wpm sweet
    1. richardworks
hmm..it seems like I'm pretty slow against you guys..=(
  8. melindaville
About 80 wpm. But if you want *complete* accuracy, then I am about 65 wpm.
  9. richardworks
    geez. I wish I didn't start this discussion..X_x
    1. melindaville
What did you expect? We're all bloggers so most of us have learned to type fast. My husband is even faster than me--but he's also less accurate.
  10. sensfaction
Cause he wanted to be the fastest
    1. richardworks
lols.. that's not it. It seems like I'm pretty slow against you guys...=p

When I was timed, I averaged 72 wpm
    1. richardworks
Great! It seems like most of bloggers here have an above average typing speed. I'm starting to feel little right now..lol =)
  12. LynneaUrania
I've hit 72 without error. Most of the time I putter around at 55 wpm.
    1. richardworks
      Awesome!=)
    2. jafabrit
I think 55 is a more comfortable range.
  13. salomey5
All I know is the faster I type, the less I make sense.

For the gamers out there, here's a game called "Typer shark" (it's free, no signing up, or anything).
It's good fun, you get to practice your typing skills, and at the end of each level, you get your average words per minute.
    1. richardworks
I also know some typing games just like that..
    2. salomey5
Stupid me, I forgot to post the link for Typer shark... Tsk!
      www.popcap.com/games/free/typershark

You know more games like this, Richard? If you know any good ones, would you mind sharing them with me? I love arcade games, and my typing skills could use some improvement.
Just post them in my shoutbox, or I'll give you my email address if you prefer.

Mind you, I could also practice my typing by... blogging for instance... Lol!
    3. richardworks
      Sure..np..=)
  14. jafabrit
61 per min, but I think I can be faster.
Here is a place you can check.

    1. richardworks
742 wpm. You got to be kidding me..There's no such thing as fast as like that. It's like more like a Horse power.=)
    2. Arcticulates
      @richardworks:
      lol
Have you looked at how many toes that aardvark has... No wonder he can type so fast.. !!!
  15. Arcticulates
I usually average around 56 words per minute without mistakes, any faster, and the reader has to kinda guess what most of the words are.
    1. richardworks
I know what its gonna look like..I've tried it that's why..=)
  16. carsonfb
    It depends...

When someone's looking over my shoulder: ~ 10 wpm
    Normally: ~ 65 wpm
    1. richardworks
I see your not comfortable when someone is looking while your typing specially when its a hottie. Even I will feel the same way...=)

I am such a dinosaur. The last time I was actually timed was in high school typing class. Way back then, electric typewriters were a luxury and computers weren't invented yet! My best was 30 wpm but that's on an old manual beastie that required finger strength!
  18. richardworks
I'm sure it's painful for someones finger to type that long that requires finger strength..
  19. lulubelleb
In high school I typed at about 60wpm and took dictation at 110wpm. Now, I'm much, much slower, but I've learned to write at the keyboard. Used to have to write out everything in longhand first.
  20. richardworks
Awesome!with some practice I'm pretty sure that you can manage to get it back..
  21. lettershome
    69 words per minute.
  22. richardworks
Awesome! Lots of fast typist here in BC.
  23. richardworks
Is there anyone else who wants to share their typing speed?=)
    1. Friday13
      Sure!

      70 TPM (typos per minute).
  24. richardworks
I'm not familiar with TPM. What's the difference between TPM and WPM?
  25. ReneeShupe
    85ish WPM....former administrative professional
    1. richardworks
      sweet....=)
  26. richardworks
Perhaps I should declare the fastest typist on BC after this thread..=)

Better not stop practicing so you can catch up with these people born with keyboards..=)
  29. acousticguitarist
about three words a minute, but gee they are the right words

I used to play 64th notes on guitar, now I don't bother
    1. richardworks
Lols..you got to be kidding right?=)
    2. acousticguitarist
no, it's true about the 64th notes
  30. HalfCrazy
I really don't know lol. But I'm pretty fast as I've been interested with computers all my life and I spend a lot of time hanging around the PC. I love the clacking of keyboards. My keyboard, that is.
  31. enhancephotos
Last I tested, about 110 and few mistakes.
  32. richardworks
Is that your peak wpm? or that your average wpm?
  33. ankit1186
if im really into it, then around 65 wpm.. otherwise its around 45..
  34. HalfCrazy
Okay, so I tested and it's 98WPM. That's the fastest I can get. I tried to break it but I fail!
    1. richardworks
how I wish we could all see each other while typing. I like to hear keyboard sounds specially when fast typists are typing.
    2. HalfCrazy
Yeah, it's music to my ears. But maybe that's just me lol.
  35. donssite
It sort of depends on how I spell the words I'm typing.
