Just for clarification, we're going with these two definitions for 'epiphany':

1. A sudden manifestation of the essence or meaning of something.
2. A comprehension or perception of reality by means of a sudden intuitive realization.

I remember when I was young, I realized that my parents were not related. (Though, this may not be the case for all children.) I remember being a little upset about this because I felt like the both of them weren't a complete part of the family.

I also remember as I was walking home from grade-school one day, I had an epiphany that when I am walking North, I am actually walking upwards on the side of the world, and in my mind, it played out as if I were walking perpendicular to a 90 degree wall (Earth being the wall). I think I blew my own mind that day.

Now I want you to share any of your "EUREKA!" moments (if you remember any). Maybe we'll all learn something new or look at something in a different light.

p.s., this is the exact post of my latest blog, but commenting here instead is perfect for the sake of discussion.

Heh, I think I recall that realizing my parents weren't related thing, as well.

As kids, we end up having quite a few of those lightbulb moments.

And as an adult, I'd say most recently was my watching one of the new Star Wars films, seeing Darth Maul and Darth Sidius, and realizing for the first time that "Darth" was not just Vader's first name.

How do you know that Darth wasn't just a popular name in that galaxy? His parents might having regretted not going with Gary vader after realising how common Darth was.

Gary Vader. It really has a certain... ring, doesn't it?

You know there's someone around here probably getting an epiphany right now along the lines of: So parents typically AREN'T related?

It's probably one of the people that viewed, but haven't responded.

Wait...you're parents aren't related? I guess I'm the resident "hill-folk" around these parts then. Tarnation!

It does have a ring to it, if they had gone with Gary Vader he might not have gone to the dark side they were tempting fate calling him Darth. But saying that Dick Cheney's parents avoided calling him Darth Cheney and look how that turned out. Just shows you never can tell.

I know as a kid, I thought any two people with the same last names had to be related.

My poor mom spent a bit of time explaining to me that this was not true.

I also felt that any city name could be used only once-- so it made no sense to me that there could be a Chester, New Jersey AND a Chester, Pennsylvania, for instance.

Boy did I have an epiphany, mine happened during the planetary alignment a few years ago.
I saw an angel stand before me reading from a scroll facing me.
Apparently I was pardoned for something I did a while back.
Whatever it was released my Kundalini energy and completely opened my third eye.
I actually witnessed Karma being burned from me.
I was taken upwards to a very clear river or stream of water by someone I couldn't see standing near me but I heard him say to "remember to pray the 23rd Psalms", which I do every night.
If that ain't an epiphany, I don't know what is.
At first I thought I was going through the change (menopause)
but I realized that I am too young for menopause.
This wasn't menopause but something much more, there is a lot more I can add here
but I prefer to keep the rest to myself.

when I was young I swore that Vermont was a city in CT (my home state) I would get so angry and argue that it was indeed a city in my state hahah

Hmmm, I actually posted about a recent ephiphany on my blog, but we seem to be a rather light-hearted group here today, so nevermind.
