When was the last time you did something completely spontaneous?

Why did you feel the need to do something completely spontaneous?

What was the final straw that made you decide to do something completely spontaneous?

What was it and did you enjoy it?

Are you generally afraid to do something completely different to your everyday humdrum?

Would you say you are predictable, spontaneous or both and what are the advantages of any or both?

I'm predictably spontaneous. I never make plans, and I basically do whatever I feel like at the moment.

      My kinda guy

Well i've been know to quit jobs spontaneously. Last time I quit, I woke up one day and decided that job wasnt for me, so I gave my boss a piece of my mind and walked out, a few days later I was in the Bay Islands snorkeling and tanning. When I got back from my little holiday I got a call from my current employer and began working 2 days later. I felt so alive the day I quit, and in this case it was a gamble that worked out!

I've been known to plan vacations spontaneously as well, last one was rio de janeiro.

I can relate here. After being laid off years ago from a banks merger, I left for Paris.
It was one of the most spontaneous things I have done and I honestly never thought looking back that I would end up in Paris. I had the best time even though I can't speak the language and made the most of my trip. I would go back again at least once before I croak. You can find me in the pastry shops.

I spontaneously commented in this thread.
    1. Jeunelle
      A++++ for the effort
    2. Friday13
I tried. I really, really tried
    3. Jeunelle
      I know it

hmmm...quit a job and move to another part of the country...while on the way meeting strangers, making friends with them, ended up talking about life as we crashed into a cemetery late at night. i guess it was the humdrum of everyday life that made me decide to do something crazy. i ended up living in this place for five years.
    1. Jeunelle
Now this sounds like a moment. Surprisingly I have met some interesting people at cemetaries too.
    2. celticmusicfan
Really? That's a cool common experience we have
    3. Jeunelle
I guess we just don't hear about it too often but it does happen often here in Boston.

I spontaneously wore a Mickey Mouse tie at work, shortly after resigning from a job. That was a few years ago though.

Not too long ago, I spontaneously went to a conference on the vanishing bees, after a neighbor showed me an article in the local paper. Along the way, I spontaneously gifted some cell towers. The next day, there was spontaneous lightning and a spontaneous 20 minute shower (enough time to spontaneously grab my soap, towel and brush). How is that for spontaneity?!
    1. Jeunelle
Yes I can relate to this one too.
I have visited the Andros Islands, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Bermuda, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and a bunch of Islands and I love the rainy season there.
People actually pull out that old bar of soap and bathe in the streets from the down pour. It is one of the most beautiful opportunities and feelings ever.

I stood up on my office desk and told my boss how much of a complete dick he was.

    I still work here too...
    1. Jeunelle
      ROFLMAO.....I love you dude
    2. Sam1982
Right back at ya - so where have you been stranger?
    3. celticmusicfan
Mwahaha that is interesting. I bet you are so much of a good employee to let go
    4. Jeunelle
Surprisingly I have been making money with my Eyewear business, that's why you haven't seen too much of me. Business is good right now. Also Grandma is still sick so I am taking care of her. I'm afraid I have to limit my online foolishness as I have more important things to take care of but I suppose I will log in here once a month
    5. Sam1982
Top priorities come first - I'm lucky enough to be able to log on here during work hours, otherwise you'd never see me here because I'm so busy outside of work.
Kind of weird when you consider coming to work as "unwinding"
    6. Jeunelle
Yup got to do the do
I find release in the weirdest places sometimes too
    7. Sam1982
Yeah generally the places that you know no one else will bother you, like the bathroom, or the storage cabinet, or that little cabinet under the kitchen sink.

I am a very spontaneous person--and I think I have finally learned the right balance in it. I used to be an impetuous person and make such terribly rash decisions. Decisions that I really came to regret.
    1. Jeunelle
We are all learning so don't be too hard on yourself.
I have to say that I do enjoy spontaneity and watch for a moment to "flew the coop" and be spontaneous
    2. melindaville
I agree, Jeunelle--I enjoy being spontaneous also. I always equate spontenaity with doing things that are slightly forbidden and fun (such as playing hookie from work to go to the beach).
    3. Jeunelle
YES and we all have to be naughty sometimes
  8. calais50
I have to say, I'm not really all that spontaneous, but nonetheless, I think I'm fun. I am always planning fun things to do throughout the week. My fiance and I, in our 1 year of knowing each other, have only watched maybe 3 or 4 movies together, simply because we don't have time to do something so mundane, usually. We're always out doing stuff.
    1. Jeunelle
You never know though, that spontaneity may creep up on you one day and you may run down the street completely naked shouting "if you want my body".

    2. calais50
      Lol! I hope so!
    3. Sam1982
Thats a new years tradition in our family
    4. Sam1982
Cant see that footage - but I do know that there is footage of me doing it floating around cyberspace somewhere.
    5. Jeunelle
Oh Lord...I can always count on you
    6. Sam1982
I can at least say I've lived.....a little
    7. Jeunelle
Yes and I can say that I have lived as much as I can and watch for every moment to live some more
I have been naught though, like burning my Great Aunts gigantic pantiloons
and laughing the whole time while doing it, etc, etc, etc. Shame on me
    8. Sam1982
And then you have kids, and while that's a miracle - its also like being on home detention with prisoners wages.
    9. Jeunelle
Pray to God I never have any ....lmao
    10. Sam1982
They are fun though and you can mold them into little minimes. Mine is just like me, has a boys sense of humor and is a prankster like me, has my dance moves - but if you make her angry, she turns into her mother.
    11. Jeunelle
It's funny which part of your child is yours and which part is your wife's/girlfriend.
    12. Sam1982
      She's definitely Dads girl

When was the last time you did something completely spontaneous?

    Relatively recently.

Why did you feel the need to do something completely spontaneous?

    Because. So there.

What was the final straw that made you decide to do something completely spontaneous?

    Not applicable.

What was it and did you enjoy it?

Wrote a poem on the fly. Enjoy is too strong a word. It was more like indulging a compulsion.

Are you generally afraid to do something completely different to your everyday humdrum?

    Beg your pardon?

Would you say you are predictable, spontaneous or both and what are the advantages of any or both?

Both. Which means I keep people guessing.
    1. Jeunelle
      @greencurmudgeon....Right on.
Who the hell wants to be labeled and kept in a box?
I enjoy doing the complete opposite of what others may think I will do.
Who the hell are they to expect me to do anything that they want me to do?
When my Mother gave birth to me, they weren't around and when I croak they still won't be around so who the hell are they? They hold no importance to me.

You said...Wrote a poem on the fly. Enjoy is too strong a word. It was more like indulging a compulsion.

This would be correct for me too. Most of the time my will takes over and I am compelled to act and I do act according to my will. My will is very strong.

I am always spontaneous, and unpredictable to myself also .Probably due to my age factor,But i love this unpredictable spontaneioty.
    1. Jeunelle
YES I understand exactly what you mean.
There are times when you can subdue your will but only if you really want to.
  11. HollytheHousewife
I could be spontaneous if my hubby would let me...
    1. Jeunelle
I am sorry to hear that. In reality Holly you need no one's permission.
  12. HollytheHousewife
I'm spontaneous at spirit...plus he's gone 5 out of 7 days of the week haha
    1. Jeunelle
Holly you are a joy, good to have you with us.

    3. Sam1982
Just reminded me of a really cool song "love you crazy" by Knightrider Sidekick.

      Thanks
    4. HollytheHousewife
      .
well then mr. sam u might just have to give me a link to that song so I can hear for myself
    5. Sam1982
Sorry, i can't access any music or youtube at work - but Im sure you'll find it on youtube if you search the band name
  13. agapelife
Pardon me, none of my days are humdrum. My days are never boring. I've been told I'm too spontaneous and for some that is intimidating.Just published a book I wrote in 3 wks. You were absent for a while, hopefully on a spontaneous holiday,LOL.
    1. Jeunelle
ROFLMAO yes I had my hands full but I have more money in the bank now.
Yes you may be too spontaneous for some but you cannot stop being who you are and must continue to be true to yourself. Forget them, they are nothing but an illusion.
  14. HollytheHousewife
well good so ur back for a little
  15. jerm
I do it all the time. I was walking out of the Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur when my friend told me about the Freeze Movement so right then and there, the 4 of us froze in the middle of the crowd for 1 minute. LOL.
    1. Jeunelle
AWESOME....I hope you have a video camera of the crowds reaction.

When I left my ex-husband I left for work as usual that morning, and never went back. No clothes packed...nothing but what I had on, my purse, and the car. It took the courts to order him through mediation, to even give me my clothes.

The last time was when I bought my car. I decided I was going to get one in the morning, found one online I liked, and bought it that afternoon.
    1. melindaville
Wow--that was really courageous of you to leave your husband that way. Did you know you were not coming back as soon as you left for the day or did you come to the realization when it was time for you to go home?
    2. searchingwithin
I pretty much knew when I left, but confirmed it within myself throughout the day, and if I went back to pick up some things, it somehow would not happen, so I just didn't go back.
    3. melindaville
Good for you. I can imagine you had some pretty good reasons if you left that way.
    4. Jeunelle
@searchwithin...girl when I left old lovers I never bothered to ever bring there face up in my memory bank ever again. When it's over, it's over with me.
    1. Jeunelle
You are awesome Suzie and to think I thought BC was filled with boring people who couldn't think outside the box
  17. kat822
Good to see you back J, I've missed ya
    1. Jeunelle
Hey Kat, good to see you around here too, hope all is well
  18. amybyrd21
I do everytime I go into the kitchen. I never know what is going to come out for dinner. I just go in and create.
    1. Sam1982
      Is it always a success?
