I was listening to Beat it and Thriller today, remembering the old days, when these thought came to me about the first thing I remembered from him. Was it his music or his personna? I have to say, the first thing that came to my mind was his nose and his pale white skin. That always creeped me out. What about you?

Actually, it's funny now that I look and see something like this article from Jan/2009

Just last month, Jackson denied rumors that he was suffering from a deadly lung condition after unauthorized biographer Ian Halperin claimed Jackson was battling emphysema, genetic illness Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1AD) and was also losing the vision in his left eye. -
I must say his songs more than anything else. In the '80s, we didn't have a computer or video games to keep us entertained. So music was the main thing that kept our family together. And English songs then, the disco era, were very much the kind of entertainment at that time for teenagers.
If you accept a celebrity as part of your life, listening to his music and following his stories, you tend to look past the ugly side as you have embraced his music. My 8 year old daughter heard of him for the first time after his death and within two days she was already learning his music, "Heal the world". She could play the tune just listening to it by ear. That's how Michael did touch us....even an 8 year old kid could learn to play it.

And he is a genius in that regard.
The story of his childhood though touches me most. I published news of his auction in Feb 2009. Then I wrote: "We all know how childhood will affect the way we carry ourselves during adulthood, but none more dramatic than this man’s stories. There is no other kid who has affected so many people’s lives worldwide than Michael Jackson."

Now, he is now forever gone. childhoodspeech.com/2009/06/michael-jackson-childhood/ -
just saying his name evokes so many images at once for me. but all related to his work, followed then by pity. he always struck me as being lonely and sad. then i think what a shame it was that he settled the jordy chandler case. i'm a lawyer, so i get that there are strategic reasons to settle cases - which is why the majority of them DO settle - but i think that just resulted in him putting himself up there as an easy target. and the rest - sadly - is history...
