I knew my girlfriend way before we became a couple. I was her cousin's friend and, by the time, she had a boyfriend from Sweden, while living in Puerto Rico! They lasted four years, broke up, and six months later, I purchased an apartment 7 floors above hers. She called me to take a look at the apartment, and...the rest is history. We've been together for two years and counting!!

I met my wife in the Computer Science department of what's now the University of Minnesota, Moorhead. That was over a quarter-century ago. We've been doing pretty well. May your life be as blessed.

I was at a university conference and saw 3 men sitting at a bridge table, shuffling cards and waiting for a 4th person to arrive. Anyone would have done.

I sat down opposite one of these gorgeous young men, played as his partner in that landmark bridge game and married him one year later. Decades later, a man who can play bridge elegantly still makes my heart beat faster.

This topic has caught my eye hahaha. I was to busy with my studies, life, hobbies etc, so I never had one until about 3 years ago (I was 22 then). Absorbed by my dream to work in Japan, I give everything and when finally, 1 month to take off (I have my contract and all) - this girl stopped me... Hahaha but I'm happy now and hope to settle soon :-D.

      Go get her, tiger!

Hahaha your right, could have been rich if I really wanted to. My logical/hungry mind is telling me to go, work or take a masters abroad. But right now, I can't leave that precious thing behind :-D.

Those things are impossible to forget, right? The most important moment for me was also at an argentinian restaurant called Tierra de Fuego. This was in Puerto Rico.

The guy I'm currently dating is the one who changed the locks on the guy I dated before him.

He was playing a gig at the local watering hole, I told him afterwards that I thought he was a fantastic singer.....flattery will get you everywhere! haha!

In a college newspaper office where we were both working. He came out yelling that "whoever the hell the cartoonist was, she needed to keep her blankety-blank-blank cartoon the same size every week or he was personally going to kill her." When I saw him that outraged over a cartoon, I laughed at him and he ended up making me a "box" to draw my cartoon in each week. We've been married almost 19 years. He said if he had murdered me, he'd be out of jail now! Hahaha!!!

Hmmmmm its a funny to think about it. Many times I had gone out clubbing, partying etc never once was I ever actually looking for anything in particular. Sure I would bring someone home on occassion but the ment little to nothing. It always turns out to be that you find what you need when you are not looking for it.
That was the case for me and its safe to say that my life is very happy now that I have her. But to answer your question it was at a club where me and a friewnd were drinking and I happened to comment about a girl that walked by in russian to my mate and it turned she was russian and understood it all hahaha. But I guess that was the building point of the conversation. Even if it was a little embarressing on my part. And we have been together ever since.

I met my husband at church. We had both volunteered to help cook meals for the hungry while grad students at the University of Michigan. Over the course of cooking a few meals, we fell in love.

We still cook together a few times a week, and on our anniversary we cook a special meal together instead of eating out.
    1. DaniG
Midwest - you could write a Hallmark movie! So sweet!

I, on the other hand, would only cook with my husband if I ran out of the other white meat. Hahaha. Just kidding. I've got a great husband - with a terrific sense of humor. Else he wouldn't appreciate me joking about cooking him.

Actually she was an exchange student in my high school in bumfuck (not a bad word, admins) PA.

Love those lips. They make me smile! They seem very happy and the lipstick color is remarkable. Good choice.

It was a cold, wet October evening and as I was leaving a Bible study I ran into an older woman who had her daughter with her. I opened my unbrella and offered to walk them to their car. A year and a half later her daughter, Kat, and I were married.

Reading everyone's responses, it suggests that people should go to meet their future spouse at a place where they share an abiding interest. Something that will stay important to both parties into the future eg university, working with computers, economics classes, tennis clubs, church, bridge games.

Mind you, there is nothing wrong with bars and nightclubs! But if knew my Future Spouse had to love church and tennis, I would more likely meet him at a "target-rich environment".

In an Irish pub in NYC. Our first date was a week later, he proposed in 4 months, and we got married a year to the day from when we met.

    Online dating service.

Funny thing is that a decade earlier we'd both been to the same university, at the same time, doing the same course of study - with me a year ahead of her.

If we'd had our eyes open at the time, we could have saved ourselves a decade.
    1. Adal
Maybe you weren't ready for each other at that time.
  29. AroundTheWaygirl
The funny thing is that we both worked at the same place on two seperate occasions. The first, about 6 years ago we knew of eachother by name only. We met and started dating at our second workplace about 4 years ago. Even funnier, as children, we both lived on the same street, 3 houses apart from one another and never knew it. It was meant to be

I don't know if destiny exists, but your story makes me think twice about it! Sounds like you were really meant to be together. I hope you have kids, because if it is destiny, you should have the product of it. Thanks for the story.
