Where do you get photos for your blog?

I'm curious because I have found several free photo sites that I use on my travel page. They only ask for a visible specific link with the photo. I've been looking into some of the "pay for photo" programs but not sure I can afford them. I've noticed that several blogs I've read have numerous great photos that don't seem to be attributed to the photographer or anyone else...but I've seen the photo in other places so I don't think they are they photographer. Is this legal? Maybe I've missed a really good photo opportunity here...
Blogger needs more photos...but only willing to do it the legal way...any suggestions?

It's a fact that many bloggers use photos illegal.
You can register on Flickr and send an internal email to the photographers. I know many will let you use their photos if you make a link back and don't use the highest quality.
If you should want to use any of mine feel free to give me a shout

Check my posting from today, I just got asked to remove a photo and responded via my blog. I like to use google pictures though its pretty good at searching criteria.

I use my own or I go on photobucket.com to grab some... be careful with copyright photos though. I haven't had any trouble, and the worst thing they can do is ask you to take it down, but it's not such a big deal as people say. The best photos are the real ones taken by you! People love real photos.

I just read your blog! (OH MY LORD!!!) You're too funny. I'd personally be honored if you used one of my photos that I took for your blog. People are sensitive about that, but I mean, if everyone else is using this photo, is he really going to try suing the entire net?
Hmm. And you're not making money off his photo... Unreal. -

If I ever use photos from an outside source (such as etsy, another blog, or a random website) I always make sure I provide generous links and credit to that site. It's a sign of respect among bloggers to do so. Stock photo sites are generally geared more towards the design industry and some of them can be pretty expensive so be sure to shop around if you go that route. If most of your photo needs are travel based I'd try finding the main tourist website for whatever place it is you are writing about. Since your site and the use of their photos would only be encouraging readers to check that particular destination out it would just be boosting the tourist industry for them and helping you make your site more interactive. Win-win. Good luck!

I take my own photos. I'll tell you, cropping photos to 970 x 140 pixels for the header took some getting used to. I mean, that's just a long rectangle. What photo do you ever see that's a long rectangle? Anyway, pretty soon I began to appreciate the format. I set my design so the header photos rotate each time a visitor navigates to a new page. There's probably about a dozen photos in all. Here's if you ever thought to yourself, hey, I wonder what long-rectangular-header-photos look like:
