In my area we're surrounded by a lot of nature preserves. One of my favorites can be seen here;

That's gorgeous. It's a perfect place to unwind. Congrats for the invitation

Thanks, but where do YOU go to unwind?

Since we don't have much places with greeneries here, I go near the breakwater. Most of the time, I stay home and dash the keyboard to my heart's content. Music refreshes me emotionally and spiritually.
  3. LGramlich
I agree with you completely about the music.

My bathroom, in a hot tub, with the door locked. The one place my kids can't pester me.

I don't exactly visit a certain area to relax. I just jog and take in the scenery. It's very calming.

we go to one of our local State Parks. NY is beautiful and there're plenty of places to get out and get away. Letchworth, Niagara Falls, Watkin's Glen, Havana Falls, Buttermilk Park, toname a few. I put a couple of pictures up in the Autumn thread, taken Sunday when we headed out to let nature recharge our batteries.

I grew up in NY & lived near Niagara Falls for almost 20 years (on the Canadian side.) Lovely country up that way.

you were very lucky then I grew up near Buffalo and now we go to the Falls year round. It's amazing in every season and reminds me how powerful and beautiful nature truely is.

Very nice, when I need to get away from the stresses and hassles of everyday life I slip into the cupboard beneath my stairs.
It's dark and there's not much room due to the gas and electricity meters but I do find the webs and dust very comforting.

No place special. I like to walk around town and sing to myself. I'm pretty unwound most of the time.
    1. MissSuzie
You left out how you do so in your undies.
    2. nothingprofound
Right. But I'm old so nobody notices.

We go to a local county park down by the river to hike. Last weekend, we ventured into the wilds of Indiana for rock climbing.

But by far the best place my husband and I unwind is on our front porch swing with a cold open beer in our hands and the children playing happily in the yard with friends.

Nothing beats drinking bottles of malt liquor under an overpass. And the people you meet! There's One-armed Pete, Crazy Willy, Pit Bull Jake. No Wifi, though.

      Bwah ha!

I wish I had something green like that around here. No luck, only desert. So, to unwind I usually submerge myself in a movie, either at home or at the theater

Luckily I'm only a few blocks from Central Park. My favorite walk there is around the reservoir. Cool in summer. Cherry blossoms in spring. Crisp air in autumn. Muggers laying low in winter. Just kidding...the city and park couldn't be safer.

I have woods all around us so I just go for a wal unless it is hunting season. Orange is not my color (Saftey vest)and I am afraid someone would think I am a deer.

Although I only live about 15 miles from London we have lots of countryside around here and we're also very close to the coast.

The area (Kent) is known as the Garden of England.

If anyone would like to see please check my blog kenttodayandyesterday.blogspot.com

      Looks lovely!

Interesting that most people seem to gravitate toward nature. I expected more people to offer other opinions.

Yea,nice! I (just like I did 2day) went to the country. I rode my cuz's horse and I'm gonna do it again 2morrow... I forgot how much I loved to ride!!! I so can't wait...
    1. LGramlich
I haven't been horseback riding in at least 15 years now. We keep meaning to, but it has yet to actually happen...
    2. HollytheHousewife
U soooo should.... I feel sooooooooooooooo FREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! It is my fav thing in the world to do!!!! Just me, a good quarter horse and an open pasture. I even go bare back and just hold on and let the horse take me.... I LOVE IT

    I like to escape here:

I feel quite lucky since I have the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone as my backyard.

      Wow, that's a postcard picture!

I like to ride one of the horses out in the woods. It's so peaceful and there's something extra special about being connected to a horse. Doesn't matter the season it's always a rejuvenating experience.
    2. offendedblogger
I agree, we own several horses and quiet time riding a forest trail is the BEST.

I tried keeping up a blog of my adventures around here, but there are just too many pictures to upload and stories to write that I'd have no time to enjoy being out in it so I abandoned the project lol.
    3. LGramlich
      Dang...You're lucky!
  19. HollytheHousewife
Now that is absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I would LOVE to ride there

Depends on how local I want to be. I can talk a walk through town and laugh at people-trust me you would too, walk down to the river or I like to go to Atlantic City to unwind.
  21. HollytheHousewife
I so wish I could be at that picture

Here in the Philippines, there are a lot of places that we can go to. To unwind and relax. Beaches are everywhere. Resorts are available. Mountain Resorts. Beach Resorts.

Aside from the beach of Caluya, Antique. The one place I go to recharge is a friend's house in Iloilo. I dunno why, but I really enjoy there.

i go to a beautiful nature preserve overlooking the river & take a picnic....
  24. agapelife
I discovered in the past few years that I don't have to physically go anywhere!
    1. LGramlich
That's always good, too. Our own deck is much like that, too, but we still sometimes like to leave the neighborhood. *L*

*watching old 'Cheers' episodes on DVD* I wish I could go to Cheers...
