I am so upset, that I had to blab about this. This year's all-star game is without Ken Griffey, Jr. As a lifetime baseball fan, this REALLY ticks me off. I am not even looking for hits or diggs on this article. I am truly and honestly venting.

Tell me what you think.

    1. RTBjr73
ok, you are banished to the minors
  2. AmyOops
    he's hiding from you....
    1. RTBjr73
      you too...banished!!!!
    2. AmyOops
does he even still play.. how old is he now?
    3. RTBjr73
He's 38, and yes he is still playing.

And you are being mean...I hope you run your bicylce into the front door of your bike shop...poophead!!!(Can you tell I have young kids at home with my potty mouth?)
    4. AmyOops
ok I thought he was like 38 ( and I'm not trying to be mean- my being mean would be routing for the other team)

      [Removed - wrong area]

It's too bad he's been injured for so long - he would've been the greatest of our time.
    1. RTBjr73
and just think, you, me, and others think the same thing...and he has hit over 600 homeruns!!!
  5. JanelleV
    good question
  6. RTBjr73
It just ticks me off, because Ken Griffey, Jr. should be the poster child for MLB. But I guess because he doesn't beat his wife, go out in and get in trouble, and doesn't act like a jerk, that makes him boring. Heaven forbid that he is a family man, who goes out and loves the game he knows that he is fortunate to still play.

    Say it ain't so!

He had the best home run swing since maybe Hank Aaron. Would have owned the home run record if he didn't always get hurt.

Ken Griffey's rookie card from upper deck used to be worth a TON of money..Not anymore though. I remember back in the early 90s, people were paying out the ass for it. Considering they printed about a million of them, I still scratch my head and wonder what the big deal was back then.

He's done this dance yearly it seems. Honestly though, I heard Buck Martinez and others saying that if they were players in today's game, they'd probably sit out.....not that Buck Martinez could afford to sit out of all-star games being Ernie Whitt's backup, but for what it's worth.

Yeah...he had a sweet swing.. and his name never came up in the steroid talk.. They should have him in and dismiss Giambi. And why isn't Bonds playing and Giambi is? Something isn't right with that picture.
    1. wigwam2theorem
The person that should be dumped is Varitek. Giambi at least is hitting pretty well.
    2. RTBjr73
One of the differences with Bonds and Giambi is Giambi spoke up. And as far as Varitek, I think he was voted in by th players.
    3. wigwam2theorem
Just because the players voted in Varitek doesn't make it right. Horrible vote.

Being a long time Mariners fan, I remember his golden days in Seattle. I even saw him and his Dad play together at a game in the old Kingdome. It is too bad about all his injuries, he was a great player.
    1. offendedblogger
      Well, he's no Ichiro, but...
    2. kdawg68
Slightly off-topic, but I so miss the old mariners uniforms of yester-year:

ALthough, I guess you needed a fro or man-perm to rock these bad boys in true early 80's style:

    3. offendedblogger
Hmm, I dunno I like their dark blues the best.

And I do love this pic:

    4. RTBjr73
@offendedblogger, you just like the picture so you can look as his tushy.

@Kdawg, the card of Rick Sweet...I still have the complete set, along with every Topps set from 1975 until 1995 still packed away down in my basement...lol
  13. mitch972
yeah that is off topic and a longggggggggg time ago...lol
    1. kdawg68
      c'mon - who isn't intimidated by these uni's?

    2. offendedblogger
      Hahaha!!!

      Yeah.
  14. RecycleCindy
I must say I don't remember Tom. But you've got to love those old M's uniforms!
    1. RTBjr73
      I remember Tom Paciorek...decent ballplayer...HORRIBLE announcer.

he should have retired years ago. i still have pages of his upper deck rookie cards. i remember when they were worth in the hundreds. i guess all great players leave on the decline.
  16. gerryPlanetEarth
I have also enjoyed watching Ken Griffey Jr. play baseball for many years...

He has one of the best swings in the history of baseball...

I am saddened Barry Bonds is not playing in the all-star game as well...

It is hard to believe an American league team couldn't use Barry Bonds as a dh or any team as 1st or 3rd baseman or pinch hitter...He should still be playing...
  17. CrotchetyOldMan
All the greats, Mantle, Mays, and so on, were all stars long after their skills declined.
It's a meaningless game. Out of respect, put him in the lineup.
    1. RTBjr73
Let me add...out of respect of the FANS!!!!

    RTBjr73,

Hey there, I didnt know your blog was about BASEBALL!!! VERY COOL!!!
Yeh, seems like the fans missed a great opportunity! I feel your pain, he is a great!

I on the OTHER hand hope Manny Ramirez rips his pants, otherwise my AL line-up would be PERFECT! Ichiro, A-Rod & The Jeetster! Course I'm a DIE-hard CHW fan so go CREDE and Quentin, gotta get happy about something in between summoning the spirit of "THE BILLY GOAT" (cubs suck)!
  19. RTBjr73
yeah, Kudos to Crede, he is having a damn fine year. My father is also a Chisox fan, so he is pleasently surprised by his play, given what he had gone through with his status on the team the past two years.

Here's one for ya...my dad's favorite player was Little Louie Aparicio.
  20. Houseonahill
WOW, he had a great year the year that I was born! LOL, WERE the CHW known as the "Hitmen" back then? Those were the good ole days that fed into the euphoria we had in 2005.

    Baseball is great.
