    I design my own avatar
  2. wandadog13
I'll start you off. My profile pic was taken whilst I was on a kiddies rollercoaster with my children and my partners two youngest children at the American Adventure theme park in Derbyshire.

Hence the gritted teeth and windswept look - I don't normally look as appealing girls!
    1. PrettyLady
      You look happy.
  3. wandadog13
Blimey that was quick - no sooner than you can say posted and a post arrives - its a record for one of my duscussions - a record to get a reply full stop - Thanks.
  4. bromoluz
very funny the story of your picture
  5. identikit
the avatar should tell exactly what your blog is about.

dont forget to vote for me at technorati.com/wtf/danimarca/

So how do I put history and computing and a bunch of other mishmash into an avatar?
    2. MadameX
Avatars are more associated with US than with our blogs; we have thumbnails and descriptions for our blogs. I think an avatar should be reprentative of the blogger, not necessarily the blog (though there might be a significant point of intersection)
    3. Norski
MadameX - following your comment -

I appreciate your discussion of avatars/user pics. Happily, the avatar I designed for another forum was intended to be more representative of me than of the blog contents.

It's good to get a 'look' at the cultures involved here.

I took my own picture in front of my dining room door. :-)
    1. wandadog13
tried that but it was a bit like the well known cigar advert with Gregor Fisher trying to get a pic in a photo booth (or Mr Bean).
  7. wandadog13
ah yes well i thought about that but I come from a marketing background and i just can't get over the fact that people buy people - show a table or show a picture of people sitting at a table etc - what's the most likely to get a responce?

Hence I use a true likeness for my own.

Hey, never thought.... I could be putting people off with my 'mug'???? (lol)

P.s. avatar pics too small to show any detail of a screen shot - luckily it disguises my face as well pretty good.
    1. clioandme
No, but I did wonder about the camera angle.

Either James Bond (looks like your holding a martini) or Mr Smith from Matrix - he apparently likes helping his elderly neighbout put her garbage out!
      Thanks for stopping by.

Oh, in about 1910-- (ha-ha). Look decent for my age, though. :-)

I was at a fair, having a good time. Ice cream looked tasty, so thought I would give it a try. After this shot was taken, I realized that my arms are too short, and made a big mess all over my face. We laughed and laughed!
    1. wandadog13
Looks like you were having a monster time anyway!
      Jonathan.

My profile pic was taken near my driveway. I've used it in all blogs but one, since it is appropriate to the 'personal viewpoint' aspect of them.

Thanks for a good discussion topic: most people here have a personal involvement!
    1. wandadog13
Thanks for stopping by - I've been amazed by the response.

  25. frenchkys
Mine's actually two pictures in one. Both were taken at an INXS concert.

    Blog on!
  26. PrettyLady
The picture that I had up before this one was taken by a photographer in a hair studio. It was a "Mary Kay Cosmetics" make over photo.

This one before I cropped it was a photo of my son sitting on my lap when he was younger.

It's just two of my horses in our backyard after a good snow.

    1. PrettyLady
Funny, I thought that was decent.
    2. wandadog13
I think in-decent photo's are banned?? Therefore your pic is ideal.

    1. wandadog13

My avatar is my business logo and the picture on my blog is the beautiful San Mateo Coast in Ca. ( I like to go birding!)
  37. WitchOfOz
I drew mine! It was the avatar I was using in a forum when I was playing Star War Galaxies, but my hair look quite the same.^^
I'm working on a much "witchier" illustration to use as a header for my blog though. If only I had some more spare time!
    1. PrettyLady
      You are very talented.

    1. wandadog13
Hi - Looks like you may have found it - better than a blank outline! (although that bloke that jumped through windows just to deliver a box of chocolates seemed to do alright by it!) (cadburys milk chocolate tv adverts)

Mine was shot in my living room as I was playing the guitar... I cropped it, and then added a little solarization.
    1. wandadog13
Not woeful at all - thought I detected a bit of glowing edges there too. NIce job though and how's the guitar playing?

Hi - sounds very tropical - unlike the very 'damp' weather here in England at the moment. Latest news forecast has flood alerts along the Thames river and evacuating 250,000 people.
