    i know you said animal but i identify with the moon, i know it is weird but I always looked to the moon and since i was a child too (i found out later that i am ruled by the moon- thus a "moonchild") my daughter is the same. when the moon is full, she runs after it, grabs it and put it in her pocket. It makes me happy. but if i could be anything besides myself, i'd say let me be moon.

    I have always identified with the hummingbird and that's where my First nations name is derived from. I'm interested to hear if our First Nations symbolism coincides with your traditional hummingbird symbolism.

    The Hummingbird animal totem's most important message to is: "The sweetest nectar is within!"

    The hummingbird symbolizes many different concepts. Because of its speed, the hummingbird is known as a messenger and stopper of time. The hummingbird is also a symbol of love, joy, and beauty.

    The rapidly fluttering wings of the hummingbird move in the pattern of an infinity symbol solidifying their symbolism of eternity, continuity, and infinity.

    The hummingbird is able to fly backwards, which teaches us that we can look back on our past. But, also teaches that we must not dwell on our past; we need to move forward.

    Always actively seeking the sweetest nectar, the hummingbird reminds us to forever seek out the good in life and the beauty in each day. Watching a hummingbird hovering over flowers while drinking nectar, we learn that we should savor each moment of our brief lives, and appreciate the things that feed us within.

    P.S. I have a Rufous hummingbird family feeding on my flowers on my deck. They have two little ones this year.

      @Owlbarn and Adityavardhan

      That's deep and very beautiful.

      Yes, indeed it is. I need to spend a lot more time watching hummingbirds and applying the lesson to my life.

      @Adityavardhan
      Do these First nations teachings coincide with your traditional teachings?
