Which blogging platform did you start first? What blogging platform are you using now?

I originally had a blog with Windows Live Spaces. I felt it was too limited so, after a quick evaluation of my choices, went with WordPress(.com).

Perhaps in the far future I'll use a premium account with them, but I don't see that happening for now. Besides, I've only used 2.1% of the upload space

Wordpress! It doesn't get any better in my opinion. Great admin control panel, top of the line security (never had a security breach in 4 years of use), spam control and much more. I could go on and on but let's just say I started with WP and still use it after trying 5 other *unnamed* platforms.

I'm on blogspot now and feel from what I've read that wordpress is more user friendly and has better features. How hard is it to change to wordpress I wonder?

Found some useful info on that - ourtimes.wordpress.com/2008/05/08/import-blogger-into-wordpress/

The same method exists for self-hosted WordPress (although haven't tested it personally).

Thank you for that! much appreciated!

I still just use blog spot, and if it gives me any trouble, I hand code with HTML to fix it. That's one of the really nice things about blogspot - the regular interface is simple and user friendly, and if it doesn't give you what you need, you can use HTML to manual overwrite.

blogspot...easy to use. I totally agree with jeremyjanson, the html is easy to fix if you have problems with it.

I originally rolled my own, then created a couple of blogs on Blogspot, now I use WordPress.

Rolling your own is more flexible but much more time consuming. Also, WordPress has so many plug-ins that it really does not make since to write your own blog from scratch anymore.

I started with WordPress and mostly I'm still there. I do have blogs on other platforms, but WP is the primary platform for me.

I started with wordpress and godaddy's QuickBlog but i think blogger is much easier to use and while free it also does not restrict the use of scripts. That's why I like it much better.

Wordpress is good and all. However, I feel when it comes to simple, get it done, no excess needed blog posting, blogspot suits me just fine.

      I couldn't agree more!

I started with blogdrive. It was good back then until my blog got hacked and all my works deleted. I have my own domain now and I use wordpress platform. I am happy with what I have and it suits my needs.

Like most bloggers I began on a free hosted blogging platform. In contrast to those who wish to make an income from blogging – I had no such agenda. I began blogging on Blogger software and found it easy to use, but when I decided to try WordPress.com I found there were remarkable contrasts between the software, the features, and the availability of support. Today there’s no doubt in my mind that free hosted WordPress software is superior in every way. I started on a social networking site, and then decided I wanted more outside participation, so now I'm on wikyblog. It's great because with multiple editors everything gets fixed in a huge hurry, rather than my having to do it all myself. Plus the wiki aspects are just so much fun . . .

Aside from the fact that you can edit your template, add javascript and have advertising on a free hosted blospot blog, in what way is blogspot software better than wordpress, drupal, joomla, tumblr, etc. software?

I started with a wordpress blog, then got sick of the layout and somehow made my way to blogspot. We've been textually fornicating ever since

My first bloglike site (that didn't work out to well lol) started with Dreamweaver (which I love still, just not for blogs). I poked Blogspot but it didn't do enough for me. I currently use Drupal and can't seem to want to try anything else yet. Love the customization.

It was called "Blurty", it was high school my name was "purpleknot". I moved over to dead journal and live journal shortly after strting it due to stalking but that was my first experience with an online journal.

I think there is still a Blurty, yup.

Went from blogspot to wordpress and now I have my own site with wordpress. Both platforms allow for a lot of custom modifications to the code which can come in handy.
