I just finished reading the Boy in Stripped Pajamas. It is so sad and has a twist at the end. I also read the Memory Keepers Daughter which was a great book too! I would recommend both!

Just about done with "Dare to Survive: Death, Heartbreak and Triumph in the Wild." Sounds like a real uplifting book, huh. And, actually, it's much heavier on the first two than the "triumph." Honestly, not a book I'd recommend. I like reading wilderness survival and rescue books, since I'm active with Search & Rescue, and sometimes the stories don't have happy endings, but this particular book really hasn't stacked up to most others I've read that genre.

I'm reading 'Iyengar, The Great Master' a compilation of essays by many well know yoga teachers celebrating the life & influence of the renowned yoga teacher B.K.S Iyengar, edited by Kofia Busia. I am really enjoying this as I am a passionate yoga practioner...very inspiring stuff!

I'm getting ready to start reading From Dead to Worse. Book number 8 in the Sookie Stackhouse/Trueblood series.

And I'm also continuing my learning of handwriting analysis, palm reading, body language and hypnosis

How do the books compare to the series? I have the series in my Netflix Queue
    2. dbowles1017
If you like the series you will love the books. The series follows the book pretty well. But the books have less emphasis on the other characters. In fact, Lafayette and Jason, are rarely in the books.

How complex is the writing? Is it "Harry Potter" eloquent or is it "Twilight" cheesy?
    4. dbowles1017
It's 1000000000000x better than twilight. It's written more of a mystery novel with a hint of supernatural flair, with a touch a housewife porn.
    5. Stillthinking
Sounds like it's right up my alley. I will be hitting my local library for the books as I am cash poor right now.
    6. dbowles1017
Let me know how you like it. My little brother and sister (14) actually started reading them too, and they really enjoy them.

I am very fond of young adult fiction as I think it has gotten a lot more sophisticated and original in the past dozen or so years. My favorite is still Phillip Pullman "His Dark Materials" trilogy followed by Harry Potter. I wish there were books like that when I was a kid.
    8. dbowles1017
      Yeah same here.

But I don't think these are classified as young adult, because they get pretty detailed with the sex.

      Vampire porn? Oh my.
    10. dbowles1017

In LR Right Side: Dark Fever

In the Bedroom: Dean Koontz - Husband

In the car - I have about 3 books, in case we go someplace I can read, or if I am waiting for someone.

Just finished John Peel's autobiography, Margrave of the Marshes. He died half way through writing it so it was finished by his widow using his diary excerpts and correspondence.
