      I love music a lot.

I had an iPod, but it died. I have a Sansa Clip now. It can't hold as much (8GB vs 30GB), but it's about ten times smaller and I can run while listening to it. I also use it to record audio; surprisingly it sounds pretty decent!

I just bought a Zune. I'm still deciding how much I like it (because of the proprietary software that's a big adjustment for me) but I do love that it boots up and shuts off instantly and that it's four times the capacity of my old mp3 player. I don't do i-stuff.

I have the iPhone. I love it and am so addicted!

I have an 80GB iPod Classic with a ton of music on it. But, I use it all the time for my audiobooks ... best way to remain calm during rush hour!!
    1. ThriftShopRomantic
Rory- I'm with you all the way on that. iPod Classic plus audiobooks during the commute equals a much happier me.

I also listen to it before I go to sleep (or, inadvertently, AS I sleep! )

      Hey Thrift,

I swear I was on the road (pun intended) to either a heart attack or deliberately running someone off the highway!! It was a combination of the traffic and my music ... bad combo.

Now, it's like having someone there talking to you calmly and telling you a story to boot!

Ah, but for sleeping ... I still need to have a book. Weird.
    3. ThriftShopRomantic
Nah, it's not weird. Everybody has their own routines.

But I agree-- I have the same experience with the "story-telling" on the road. Makes a huge difference in mood/tolerance levels.

Also gives me something better to concentrate on when I've had a lousy day at work.

I've traveled across Canada in a car over 10 times (one way trips) and the best trip I ever had was when a buddy and I read a Sci-Fi novel aloud while the other drove.

This, of course, was pre-iPods, although Books on Tape was around.

Although we were both horse when we arrived at our destination, it was fabulous.

A vintage Hello Kitty boom box from 1985.

      Hello Kitty rocks.

      Hi Rooster.

I only wish I still had my Mickey Mouse record player from about 1976. I don't know whatever happened to that thing, but it was in constant use for a decade or so.

Are you making fun of me DR? I think you are.

There's nothing wrong with Hello Kitty. And where's that Hello kitty pillow you promised me?

Can't stand Apple products. They seem designed specifically for people who can't think.

Music player? A pair of Technics 1210 turntables. :)

I should also own up to owning a Creative Zen MP3 gadget. VERY good piece of gear which gets rave reviews from those who care more than me.
    1. legbamel
Hubby has one of those tha he loves. He's had it for three or four years and has never had any trouble with it. (The Zen, although we do have a couple of turntables.)

    iPod Nano

ya, all Apple products rock well !!!
  9. Bullgrit
I have a Sony Ericsson W580 cell phone with my music. I also have a Bluetooth stereo headset for it.

Two years ago, I'd have said this kind of thing was totally unnecessary, but now I'd be sad if I had to live without it.

Was going to get the ipod touch but I heard to many word of mouth complaints so I got the classic 120 gb. I love it and don't have to worry about space and the video quality is awesome.
  11. Jaybetee
we have 2 ipod shuffles, 2 video ipods, and a Nano...we didn;t buy them all. 2 were gifts and the Nano was won at a convention.
  12. crpitt
I think you can like music without having an ipod.

    /grumpy jealous non ipod owner....
    1. Jaybetee
no it's impossible! once you have an ipod, you'll understand
    2. legbamel
Don't fall into their trap! iTunes stinks!
    3. burmesedays
      You most certainly can.
    4. Stillthinking
I happen to really like iTunes. I think the Itunes store works amazingly smoothly. I love it. I have a nano.

iPods suck! I have an iRiver and they rock! They last for years and years and years, have everything good that an iPod has and none of the bad stuff...you can use them like a mini-harddrive, read text on them and record with them, listen to the radio, watch video... and you don't need special software that deletes your library if you have it on the wrong setting (who designed that?)...and you get to choose what kind of firmware you have on it so you can organise your music/files however you want!

    seriously...don't buy an iPod!
    1. cookingasshole
      jealous you can't afford one?
    2. Epicharis
My iRiver cost almost as much as an iPod, so no...
