Boxing is known to be the sweet science...fighters should be in great physical condition, should last up to 12 rounds, requires the sportsman to have a good cardio etc.

MMA requires vast knowlege of martial arts, wrestling, boxing and other fighting sports, short fights, fast paced...

    martial arts is great.

I do watch the UFC, but honestly it's not as exciting as it once was. BJJ takes skill, obviously, but watching two guys roll around on the floor is not something I find to be particularly entertaining, regardless of how much skill is involved.

I have watched just about ever fight, and I feel like the excitement factor has declined over the years. Andre Arlovski was great - he knew how to put on a great, unpredictable standup show.

I enjoy watching boxing from time to time, but I don't find it to be as exciting as martial arts.

good point but according to some critics of mma an mma fighter lacks stamina unlike boxing you have to complete 12 rounds mma fights are short thats why boxers are better fighters than MMA do you agree with this view?

I'd partially agree with that. I think there are definitely a handful of MMA fighters with amazing stamina, but there are definitely also a lot who get winded very fast. I don't know that I would necessarily agree that boxers are better fighters because of this - a skilled MMA fighter can take down an opponent in less time than a boxer, simply because the rules are different. When you can kick someone, choke someone, flip someone, AND punch someone...you obviously have a lot more opportunities to inflict damage than when you can only punch someone.

my sons were wrestlers so freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling are near to my heart but you only see them on tv when it's the Olympics, college Championships, or States for HS.

lately we've been watching the UFC, which isn't too bad. Boxing just doesn't do it for me.

American Football or Rugby is more of a fighting sport than most martial arts events. They teach teamwork in a combative environment which is more important than most martial arts events. I challenge you to put a professional martial artist against a fully trained professional linebacker.

Boxing is scheduled for 12 rounds, but they are only exerting intense energy a few seconds at a time and they only have to defend punches. Compare that with MMA where the rounds are 5 minutes long and they have to exert a lot of energy when they grapple. MMA fighters also have to be aware of more than just punches which makes it more difficult.

I don't know if you've ever boxed before, but it's very tiring. You need a good set of lungs.

I think Both have their good points...

One is a well defined art and the other is straight out gut instinct.

I do a lot of Sports/Boxing/MMA promotions for my Casino Promotions Blog - so I see a lot of the stuff that goes on...

    Very interesting stuff.

I just prefer WWE, because wwe is the only sport entertainment that is well maintained, well monetize and above all, safe (they just acting).

golf is pretty well monetized, maintained, and it doesn't get much safer than golf either

It's also like watching paint dry.

I've been a die-hard boxing fan all my life...but I think MMA has surpassed boxing as the most exciting combat sport.

World Combat League! Unlike ultimate cage fighting and MMA, WCL combines full contact point sparring and respect. Sure the athlets are trying to beat the other guy but not like cage fighting where it is all about killing the opponent. Also, it's a team sport which adds a little something to the mix. I only wish it was on more often.

MMA is the better sport for a number of reasons.

    1. You need to be in better overall condition to be on the ground fighting.
    2. You need to have a more diverse arsenal of fighting styles.
    3. It is more entertaining
    4. A MMA fighter would easily beat a boxer.
