If you are into animations, short films or independent films I would love to hear some recommendations!! I have still so much to watch, but it is always better to watch something recommended.
If I post a film review in my blog from a film that you recommended I will make sure to let everyone know how great your taste at films is and I will of course ad your link

    I love indy films!

"Water" was very, very profound and gripping. It made me want to move to India to help the child brides.

Thanks, I think I am getting stirred for my next blog entry.

I could recommend a great short romanian film called "Marilena de la P7". As far as I know, you can watch it on YouTube. It's about life in a very poor neighborhood of Bucharest. I hope you like it:)

I have a new indie favorite:

    "Wristcutters: A Love Story"

This is a dark comedy that screams MIDNIGHT MOVIE.

A guy slits his wrist and wakes up in another place. He's working at a pizza place and lives with an Austrian guy who fusses. He says he doesn't try to kill himself again because he doesn't want to end up somewhere worse. People shares how they offed themselves. Someone tells him that his girlfriend offed herself a month after he died. He sets out to find her.

He convinces a Russian he meets to drive him to find his girlfriend. Along the way they pick up a girl who's hitchhiking. She insists she did not off herself and she is trying to find the "people in charge." She says she only ODed.

Well the people in charge are called "People in Charge (PIC)." There are no stars at night. There's a black hole below the glove compartment in the car. The three manage to accidentally drop things down the black hole. Special effects are minimal. This is an odd little film.

    Tom Waits has a cameo.

Originally, I noticed an ad for this on the YouTube home page. Then it opened here in New Orleans last Friday at our local Landmark Theater. Landmark usually handles the arthouse films. A lot of times films come here long after showing elsewhere - indie films.

When i added it to my queue on Netflix, no date has been given for a DVD release.

Here are some previews of the film:

Along those lines, March of the Penguins!
    1. claudiorodval
March of the Penguins is awesome too... have you seen Winged Migration? thats a similar movie just a little older 2003 (the photography is amazing) truly one of the movies that changed my perspective of art in films.

Dead Fantasy if you haven't watched it already

    link: youtube.com/watch?v=5uZzRnJ1mn0

Its Final Fantasy vs Dead or Alive short film made by a fan. And yea the guy's got some talent.
    1. claudiorodval
Nice fighting... Do you know Tomasz Baginski? all of his animations are amazing (I am sure you can find some in YouTube)

      Thanks for sharing
    2. Xight
That was a pretty nice flick, I'm going to have to find some more of those vids. Thanks for sharing. By the way the guy who made Dead Fantasy (Monty Oum) also made Haloid, there's a bunch of those vids on there. He even made a dance choreography video which was pretty nice.

There is an Indie film called, "In America." I found it to be a touching story about an Irish family moving to New York City in the 90's and learning about cultural differences and "letting go" of loved ones who have past away.
    1. globalgirl
I liked that film too. Very moving.
  20. Madlabent
The Short films "Timmy", "Take Four" and "Broken" are nice shorts to watch. Timmy has been screened and won awards at many festivals around the country, and so did Take Four. The Take Four movie has some funny scenes in it. The Broken short movie is a Thriller. I saw two of these movies at a film festival and the other one I saw at the online Haydenfilms Online Film Festival.
  21. Madlabent
As far as feature films go, "The Good Girl" with Jennifer Aniston is nice to see if you are bored. The story may seem to drag depending on your attention span, but the role that she played made me dislike her character. Also, "Head Trauma" has been getting a lot of buzz. You could also check out "I am a Sex Addict" directed by Caveh Zahedi.
    1. claudiorodval
WOW... great... now I have to look for them LOL! I usually watch a movie per day... so I will be busy the rest of the week

      Thanks a lot for sharing!

Wallace & Gromit's short films, like "The Wrong Trousers" have a lot of charm.

I also like Aardman Animation's, "Angry Kid" series.
    1. rippinkitten
      Ah...I LOVE Wallace & Gromit!
    2. claudiorodval
I am not really a fan of Wallace and Gromit, but I will check the one you are telling me about... I probably watched them when I was still too young and couldnt really enjoy them 100%

"You Kill Me" has Ben Kingsley as an alcoholic hit man. He botches a hit by falling asleep and is sent by "the family" to San Francisco. Bill Pullman (working for "the family") is a real estate agent who sets him up with a job at a funeral parlor. Because of a funeral he meets Tea Leone. She falls for him and has no problem with his profession. He starts attending AA meetings and meets Luke Wilson where who ends up as his sponsor. Dennis Farina was the target he was supposed to kill.

The characters are just a bit off, but endearing.

One of my favorites is a foreign film called Black Cat, White Cat. It's absolutely hilarious even if I had to read the subtitles. It's in Romanian, I believe, but I'm not sure.
