I've never been a big fan of pop dance/electronica music, so it was funny to find myself hooked onto Lady GaGa's singles "Poker Face" and "Just Dance".

At first I didn't know who sang these 2 songs that I love so much. I had seen pics of Lady GaGa, and heard something about Christina Aguilera imitating her style (or was it the other way round?), and didn't think much of her.

Therefore, when I found out that Lady GaGa was the artist who sang Poker Face and Just Dance, that really took me by surprise. And now I'm a fan

Which music artist took you by surprise? Was there any particular musician that you didn't like at first (maybe because of the image they were portraying), but had won you over because of their music?

I really love Lady Gaga too, she's very talented. I suggest getting her album The Fame as every song is golden, every track could be a single and definitely worth it!

I'd say the Pussycat Dolls took me by surprise. Back in 2005, when Don't Cha is at the height of its popularity and I keep hearing it on the radio, I was actually annoyed. But when I saw the video, I was like, "These girls are different, they have something that can take them to the top!" I especially adore their style and their burlesque roots. A lot of people may say negative things about them and I really have no idea why.

I love PCD too! I love their image & their catchy tunes. As a matter of fact, when their single Don'tCha came out, their album wasn't even sold in Malaysia at that time yet. I waited eagerly for their cd to hit the stores & when it did, I just went crazy! hehehe...

I checked out the names you mentioned. Dizzee Rascal and The Enemy was alright. I think Alphabeat has catchy tunes. I quite dig their song "Fascination". And their videos are interesting to watch... quirky stuff.

      Thanks for this!

Silver Chair. This is because of the drastic difference in genre in style from the last records to their new record, Young Modern.

Silver Chair... now that's a name I haven't heard in ages! OMG, I didn't even know they have a new record out. I am so out of touch!

It's a miracle they play his songs. Jimmy Nail was popular at the late 80's. The song you meantioned is: Ain't no doubts...so nice. You should also listen to: Love don't live here anymore. It's a cover of a old Rose Royce song but so good and emotional.

It's nice to read it. I love music very much for all my life. It is a very important thing. From what you write I keep believing that music is a expression of emotions. It's nice. We will always keep memories about special occassions and its often involved with music. You know it can even lead that a big rock fan starts to love a ballad then the occassion is special. The only thing that can make that happen is: music.
