I am a member of over 80 Social Networks
and would love to know which Social Networks besides BC do you currently visit or use.
Why do you use or visit them?
Are they doing good for your blogs?
What do you dislike about that Social Network?
Any Spam from them?

Here is Digg's definition of Web3.0 by Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

80?? Wow, are you active on all of them? I have signed up for too many over the course of the years. These days, there are only 2 sites I actually spend time on. BC of course and Flugpo. Both of them fulfill my social networking needs so I just don't bother with the others anymore.
-
Thanks kellybax, I haven't heard of Flugpo but will add them to my ever growing list.
The reason why I am so into them is because I have a new blog at www.socialnetworkersandbloggers.com/
I am doing a lot of blogging info on each, though I have to get on the site soon
as it's a little behind. Ah the Link is up now.

Over the past year I tried a number of different networks and the only one which works for me is this one. BlogCatalog.com ... it's the finest.
-
I'm on Facebook, after years of pressure from others, but I'm also on the verge of leaving again, this time forever. It doesn't do anything for my blog or website & I barely hear from any of the "friends" who pressured me to join in the first place. Someone tried to hack my account the other day, so I think it's time to go.
-
Great Theresa111, glad this one is working great for you.
LGramlich I know your dilemma as I'm a member there too and the many applications are annoying especially the "I wanna slip a finger in you application" which I really hate to see in my message box. lmao-
@LGramlich...Yes that's what I do too.
I just ignore them or delete them stupid things off my profile page.
After a while, your friends will know what to send and what not to send.
I try not to participate in most of them and it's quite easy to do.
They do fill up your whole profile page when you log in and I hate that.
One thing I do have that's really useful is that Roboform
www.Roboform.com
I can't remember all those annoying passwords but this automatic password manager
does and log in is the quickest.
Very useful when you're pressed for time and can't remember all the passwords
to all these social networks.
-
BC, Sometimes Digg. I am going to start up my own on Links.com pretty soon. I hope you will join in. It is going to be all about Links.
-
I am a regualr user of
Facebook
MySpace
Digg
Stumble
Delcious
Blog Catalog
Twitter
LinkedIn
Each offer a different type of netowrking opporunity and type of connection. Because much of my writing on marketing, I also play on social networks so I can write about it and consult for my clients
-
Right on Newward and Cooper, I use all those too.
Take a peek at where I'm sometimes www.socialnetworkersandbloggers.com/social-networks/
BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.
I know it looks crazy but I love to meet lots of online friends.
Great way to pass along and receive lots of info on various things and going on's in the net.
-
-
I use very few. I don't use BC for traffic I just find it fascinating to read the threads so I don't think of it as a social network.
I belong to "20 something bloggers" and mybloglog. I have a twitter account, linked in account, i belong to Digg, reddit, technorati, stumble,FB, tons, most of which I never visit or visit rarely. -
Some of these like Linkedin, you can get really nice testimonial to your profile
if you made some friends there and if you need a testimonial.
More serious networkers are hiding out in Linkedin.
I met lots of the creators for new software applications there
and they are pretty friendly with the invites or you want to add them to your list of friends.
Heck there's even a new social network for people over 40 years old called www.Boomj.com
I gotta add them to my list soon.
You can start your own network too but how do you choose which is right for you? -
Great list over there on your site Jeunelle. But you don't have plurk or friendfeed listed, 2 of the recent hot ones.I guess it is never ending with social sites.
-
You're right these darn sites can go on and on forever, new ones being created everyday.
You can get your own Ning network and others similar. When does it end?
Thanks for these two, I'll join them soon to add, as that's what I do.
I do use ONE Gmail account for all of them cause you can get lots of emails,
spam and other junk from all of them.
You can delete everything with the Gmail delete button lots faster than hotmail or yahoo's.

Hello Jeunelle
I use:
www.RioTheYorkiePoo.com
It is a great place to hang out,
meet interesting people, make friends,
upload pictures and videos, blog, vlog
and get paid while doing it!
The reason I like it so much
is because I can make money while
doing the things I love! -
-
@mariamichelle ...MySpace is da pits
www.blogcatalog.com/discuss/entry/thatll-teach-em
-
-
I'm not worried about it. Do resent the fact that because I'm a teacher it could prevent me from getting licensed - crazy!

These are the sites I frequent. I'm listing the most addictive (at least for me) first:
VideoSift, BlogCatalog, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Plurk, MySpace, MyBlogLog, Multiply, LiveJournal, Pownce, Mashable, Mahalo, Vimeo, StumbleUpon, Technorati, ArtScuttlebut/Art Calendar, Slide, dotdashcreate, BlogsRecord, Stemble, GLCZone, Ididgo, GoToRead, Revver, Frappr, Tagged, Blogged, Yahoo 360˚, Windows Live, Classmates, Orkut, Linked In, digg, reddit, Mixx
Why?
• Interacting with the other people on the sites
> discussions
> learning from others
> generating ideas from what I read or see
> being entertained
> being silly
• Meeting new people from all over the globe
• Reconnecting with other people I’ve known
• Interacting with folks I already know
• Having a chance to be creative
• Receiving feedback on artwork and videos -
Mybloglog
Myspace
Stumble
BC of course
Technorati
a few others that I signed up for and forgot about
BC is where most traffic comes from. A little from mybloglog. I just use myspace to connect with real life friends and old classmates. -
-
It's kind of funny, actually...I don't consider things like del.icio.us, digg, BC, technorati, etc. "social networks." Perhaps a good question would be; How do you define "social network?"
-
Plus I also want to add that I have meet many friends from del.icio.us, digg, technorati
as they blog and network all over, you may meet them there first
but later you come to recognize them at other social networks
and your name and site sometimes gets passed around, so it all good. -
Hm....BC...and BC. I have Technorati, MyBlogLog, and Stumble, but Blogcatalog is what I've been using exclusively. Haven't had the time or motivation to go all hardcore joining other social networks lol. I could probably do better *hangs head in shame*
-
@thoughsofg...Awwww don't feel ashamed, you are probably smarter than some of us.
As long as they are working for you, that's all that matters.
One of the reasons I joined so many Social Networks is to make more friends
and their interest gets them to view my blogs if I'm lucky. So far it's working.
-
-
@thoughtsdofg...Great glad that cold is gone.
Yup another thing I failed to mention is it really all boils down to TIME.
Only join Social Networks that you have time to keep up with.
I simply visit the ones I joined when I have time and some I don't visit for weeks
but I eventually pop in to see whats going on in the neighborhood. -
I use Facebook, Del.icio.us, Technorati, hi5, LinkedIn and Blogcatalog- aside from Google, the last is best for traffic.

OH MY GOD...HERE IS MASHABLE'S BIG LIST
Mashable comprised a huge list of social networks that can help you get your blog
seen by other social networkers out there. This is one big list

Maddie Grant over at twitter is now offering some social media status tips
and she is working on a good blogging workshop.

You really have to get out there and make yourself and your blog know if want to gain
some more comments and visitors to your blog.
"What can social media do for you" presentation is live: budurl.com/9wlf -
In addition to BC, I am on Entrecard, Stumble Upon and CMF Forums. BC and CMF Forums are good for hanging out and chatting and meeting and learning from other bloggers, BC sends a small but steady stream of visitors, Stumble Upon stumblers sometimes stampede by the thousands (6500 on my most popular stumbled post) but they are even less sticky than the EC chain dropping traffic. I am still using Entrecard, but no longer dropping three hundred cards a day. I am focusing on visiting and discovering quality blogs and if there is a widget I drop, but that is Not my purpose for being there anymore.
-
I use MyBloglog, Facebook, Friendster, Multiply, Twitter, Google Friend Connect, Entrecard and Rejaw.
