Money making blogs or blogs that talk about subjects most would not.

Yeah, sadly that's true..and to be honest they shouldn't even be classed as blogs. By the way..that quote is always mis-quoted. THE LOVE OF MONEY is the root of all evil. Not money itself.

Frankly i'm tired of half baked money making schemes, blogs that promote companies, product etc etc tec. I prefer blogs to be personal. If I ever link in to a blog and find it's havering on about money, making money etc..I just move away.

There is no easy way to blogging success, you should just blog for the fun of it, and do a little advertisement around forums and social networking sites just to spread the word that your blog does exist.

The blogs that attract the most visitors are the ones with original thought and voice.

E.G. you don't link to a blog and put your twist on things, people link to you.

The catch is - as this is hard to do - that everybody has original thought and their own voice .. so you have to ask how your thoughts and your voice is worthy for other people to add their voice and thoughts about it.

e.g. tech blogs - usually having scoops on products
e.g. entertainment blogs - usually having scoops on products
e.g. technical blogs - solutions to problems a lot of people are having
e.g. news blogs - (hard to do) - if you are in the middle of it (hurricane, tornado, war, flood, mudslide, etc) and add extra what regular news cannot
e.g. sports - you have to be current with schedules, scores, but most of all commentaries on recent games and players activites (versus agreeing or disagreeing with other sport commentator reports)

About money making blogs? I don't think these attract the most visitors. Everybody knows how to make money. You work you get paid. Eventually, newbies seeking people offering tips to newbies realize they are not so newbie anymore and can apply these and their own tips and experience.

The successful blogs that can attract more visitors is to retain the current visitors as well. Word of mouth happens. Others wonder why so many people are following you. Rich get richer philosophy (ever hear that saying?)

(of course, that's just my opinion - not fact ... I'm still looking for all of the above :D)

Hmmm... it looks like only money-making blogs are attracting most visitors. But as far as my knowledge goes, aren't most money making ideas on internet a type of scam which leads one nowhere.

So now how would you rate other types of blogs.

Blog with journalistic qualities seem to do well. By that I mean bloggers who investigate topics, break news, run interviews. Good readership also helps, not just numbers but quality of posters and a sense of community on a blog always seem to help too.

Hmm well by comparing to both my blogs, I'd say my funny personal blog has always been more popular then my photoblog. Who knows though, I wonder what the answer is now. I'm assuming personal blogs, I mean after all Blog Catalog alone lists 15,268 personal blogs.

many people talk about "content is the content" and "they will come". so the topic is must hot, controversy, latest or something that really teaching.

Blogs that provide advice and tips tend to do well. Blogging, making money, and so on seem to do very well.

However, I think if you're genuine and you create quality posts and you just stick to the basics...you can become popular.

In Sweden, the most popular blog topics to read about are everyday life, diary/personal, fashion, politics/society, computers/IT and sport.
