    Do you know any twins?
Yes. I'm very close to a a pair of identical twins.
    Are they alike or not?
    Yes and No.

I have known several sets of twins. In college, I had a roommate that was a twin. She and her twin were close and of course looked alike but had different personalities and interests.

yeah, I have twin cousin sisters, they are unindentical though..

In my school, I had friends who were twins, and they were identical. Initially, we all found it difficult to distinguish between them, but later we managed to...

Back in the late '50s my jr. hi. newspaper ran an article about our 15 sets of twins...15!

I had several of the twins in my classes, most of them identical girls. The girls from Indonesia were very alike...even their handwriting was identical. The pair of girls from England were very different...even though they were identical, one was taller than the other, and much more gregarious.

I think it depends on two things: are they identical and did their parents treat them like individual siblings or as a monolithic pair? Studies of identical twins separated at birth and reunited in adulthood have turned up astonishing similarities in their tastes and preferences, beliefs and values. And children can be socialized to be part of a pair (and therefore similar) rather than independent individuals.

The short answer is: it depends.

My wife is a fraternal twin who looks, acts, speaks, dresses, thinks nothing like her sibling.

The differences in fact are so profound I didn't believe they were even related at first meeting.

One has thick, blonde hair and blue eyes the other (my wife) has dark hair fine hair, with dark eyes.

But even in personality, interests, mannerisms, they vary greatly.

I had two different sets of friends in high school. One was a guy/ girl combo and the other two were identical and they were tired of being identical so, they changed their hair.

I dated a girl who had an identical twin. I couldn't tell them apart. The only way I knew who was who was the response I would get from them because the twin hated me with a passion.

I knew two indentical twins in my school since kindergarten....And since I was a good friend of theirs, I was the only one in school who could tell them apart! So it was quite fun to see everyone else confused.

i've had two sets of twins be good friends of mine and i thought they were both incredibly different (aside from their appearance, obviously). but even then, once i really got to know them they had so many physical differences to me it wasn't hard to tell them apart.

My cousins are twins, nearly identical. Their mother always dressed them the same as small children, even though they had different interests and personalities.

When they went to college, one went to Notre Dame. Her sister came to campus for a visit, unannounced. She spent most of the day touring the campus before surprising her sister at her dorm room.

My cousin the student had to spend the next few days explaining to friends why she didn't recognize them on campus. They had tried to interact with the visiting sister, but because of those years of forced indenticality (is that a word?) my cousin had never told a soul she was a twin.

Yes I have identical twin boy cousins who cannot stand each other and don't really have that close psychic connection like some other twins do. After many years it's still hard for me to tell them apart. So if the twin doesn't have his girlfriend or wife with him then I'm not sure which one he is. My family can all tell them apart though.

I suppose if you are born a twin and don't like it, it must be really hard. As the old saying goes, you choose your friends. I suppose you wouldn't know any different but I'm not sure I would have liked to have a twin. Maybe being a triplet might be better.

It is kind of interesting but the twins i know are quite different in personality factors. One is rather shy and the other one more outgoing and they have different interests etc

once you can tell them apart physically you do see many differences between them

    My mom is a twin.

She is almost identical to her twin in every way, looks and personality.

I know several sets of twins. They're not identical though -- but they have similar features.

I'm a twin. I have a twin brother and we are nothing at all alike. I'm a married SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) juggling play dates and attending swim meets on the east coast and he's a bachelor living the player life on the west coast in Las Vegas. He's about a foot taller than me and except for our eyes (and our old noses, prior to rhinoplasty) you would never know it to look at us that we're even related, much less twins.

Our personalities are entirely different as well.

When we were growing up, we were not close with each other at all. Now that we're older, we are much closer.

My Dad was a twin. He had a twin sister.

Not enough close to be alike.

I know a few of them and their personalities are totally different

My twin grand-dotirs, Rani Marri and Rina Marri are two years old. They have similar physical appearance. This early, there are indications of different personalities and interests. It's not easy to tell them apart. The twins remain together at all times.

I posted pics on my webpage.
