since you asked - first off it wasn't my choice - I had a great job one time but the division was closed down (I have more in my blog).
So far my wife has been able to support us. One key part is living a very simple low cost life.
Everyone situation is different and I'm lucky to be towards (I didn't think I was quite there yet) the end of my regular career. Now I need to figure out a second career.

I drink 8 cups a day
More than 9 cups of coffee a day can reduce Alzeihmer disease risk by 10% or so.
Caffeine itself is known to increase lipolysis, shifting metabolism to break down fats. The substance is also known to increase efficacy of short term memory as well as improved muscle tolerance.
Caffeine improves mucous clearance of airway in the setting of infections or viscosity of sputum.
Caffeine is a legalised addiction to have. Why not!-
More than 9 cups of coffee per day might also make you shake and give you chronic insomnia. True it's probably the most 'harmless' addictive substance in the world -- but that doesn't mean it doesn't have a downside like any other "drug."
Caffeine over-stimulates the pituitary and adrenal glands to keep the body in a heightened state, constantly releasing stress hormones...and for many people, it can produce an 'artificial high' from which they crash into exhaustion and fatigue. Of course, it varies based on usage, but over time almost everyone develops a tolerance and needs more caffeine to get the same effect of alertness.
True, if you drank LOADS of caffeine, some studies have shown it increases short-term memory (but so do nicotine and cocaine!) and metabolism... however, other studies demonstrate that any fat-burning or memory effect might be counter-acted by the crashes, troubled sleep, and how stress makes you pack on more fat. Of course, it also makes you crave more sweets since it lowers blood sugar.
Most people wouldn't even entertain the notion of living without it, but I think they'd be AMAZED at the life change if they honestly did.

We have to find you an alternative.
Oh yea. I can live without coffee but do like a good cup sometimes. -
I have to have the caffine. I do not do sugar, junk foods (althought they had chips and swandwiches tonight due to working out side all day) and no junk food (my kids hate me for that new rule here but it is better for them and saves money)
Oh If I could find water joe I would drink it,. It has caffine in it. and it is just water.
