I operated a humor and funny pictures/videos website for quite a while, however I've discovered that blogging this content is SOOOO much easier.

I can upload a string of images in just a few moments, thus keeping my content fresh and growing quite easily.

I am curious who else has made this transition. Are you as pleased as I am with the change?

Times sure change, don't they?

Huh? You totally lost me...sorry. What is 'this content'?

I had a humor blog when I started, but according to current opinion now I seem to operate an appetite suppressing blog.

Oh! So you found a way to make blogging the videos and pictures so much easier. Ok.

That definitely wouldn't work for what I do...

    I realized that I didn't include a link to my site....http://humorvice.blogspot.com

Content = the pictures and videos themselves...

The blogging format makes it much easier to create a new string of pictures than it did in the old days with my Dreamweaver program.

I'm wondering who else made this transition.

Mine is all (well mostly) about allowing readers to laugh at someone. That person would be me...

Aren't you scared that all your efforts will be totally gone to waste - because you are copying other people's pictures and not citing them as the source? (against Google's T.O.S.)

I see pictures already that I have on my own blog on your blog - but, at least I passed along the link love where I found them.
    1. PetLvr
Actually - I was just browsing your archives even deeper now, and am now more offended that you even have the gall to stamp your own URL on other people's pictures.

I don't consider you a humor or funny picture blog at all.

I've been putting my comics online since 2001, but I only just decided to change it to a blog at the beginning of this month. Of course, I changed from doing a gag-strip to political cartoons, but I think the format is really a cinch compared to all the BS I had to go through with an auto-updating comic website. Even the most user friendly webcomic hosting sites can't compare to the ease of a blog. It's really idiot-proof, which suits me perfectly, being that I'm not technically inclined in the least. And since I'm still affiliated with the [i] comics collective, it also opens my comics up to two different groups of readers, people who read blogs and people who read webcomics.

[edit]By the way, a quick plug for [i]:

Petlvr. About 90% of the images I have, I've had for many years. Certainly longer than your blog has operated. I've never browsed your content, and surely don't need to. I have about 1000 more pictures that didn't get included in the site....which have also been in my database for many years.

There are hundreds of thousands of humor sites out there displaying the same pictures. I'd be happy to list them for you. Humor pictures sites are nothing new.

Visit www.humorlinks.com sometime.... There are a few thousand right on that site that should wake you up a bit.

Also, most of my pictures have circulated around the internet for a decade. through emails. But even so, if you can prove an image belongs to you, feel free to email me and identify the catagory it's under.

.. unfortunately, possession doesn't mean ownership. C'mon! Give credit where credit is due. If you do not know where you got it - or refuse to state where you got the picture .. STATE THAT ... don't put your URL stamp watermark on it. That's bad.

// I mean - it's okay to have humor and picture sites .. laughter is the best medicine and all that.

Petlvr, after viewing your blog, I see most of your content is duplicates of a thousand different sites as well.... humm.. Interesting.

      ..with links.

Seriously, just browse through Humorlink's archives. You'll see that most good sites get these old images cleaned up and stamped. Half of them have been stamped so many times they become unusable..

Here's the old site, which was built on geocities about 7 years or so ago... which is where stored most of my images...

    www.geocities.com/blondiepages/index.html

I've disabled the links to the images and direct site to my blog, but you can check the html source and see the date the index page was created.

There is really very little recent humor imagary out there besides crash pictures and celebrity pictures... much of this has been out there quite a long time... as almost any email recipient can attest to.
  14. PetLvr
Well, try not to be *too* serious with a humor site. I'm sure it still takes a lot of time searching, hunting, locating, captioning, etc etc all of your pictures. But, if you want your site to succeed .. you should just consider what I have suggested as a way to move forward - forget the past and geocities and go forth on the future (proper linking, citation, attribition, etc) .. In other words, do not consider my comments as an attack - consider it as advice. That's all.

As I told you. I've had most of this content for many years, and there is no possible way to trace back these images to their original source. Most of it has been emailed a billion times... Your site doesn't attempt to do this, so I'm not sure what your point is.

As far as proper linking and such goes... My links are fine. My reference about the geocities days, was to merely point out how old the pictures are and how many thousands of sites most of this content exists on.

For you to start bringing up attribution on an image that's been emailed, listed, stamped, restamped and emailed a million more times, is really alarming.... I'm afraid you'll have to battle a heck of a lot of other humor site owners on this one, as most of us stamp these images.

Most humor sites know better than to try to copyrite material that they never originated anyway.... and I certainly won't. If you try to copyrite these image, you'll fail.. They are in the public domain...

But I'll say it again. email me the image you think belongs to someone else, and I'll take a look.

Otherwise, let's drop the subject please.
