I have kitties! Two specifically.
The female - who I call Naggy McNaghag, and the male who I call Big dumb cow-kitty. Really, those are nicknames
I actually adopted them this summer - the family I took them from couldn't/wouldn't take care of them anymore. They were in bad shape when I got them, undernourished/malnourished and some kind of rash or mange problem. Both were skittish and rather unpleasant at first.
But after some baths (oatmeal creme rinse to sooth the skin) and some serious upkeep and a tailored diet they've both gained weight, grown their fur back, and have become the cuddliest (bossiest) cats ever.
I keep them as indoor cats now, although they've been outdoor cats their whole lives I figured that they are simply too old to be able to handle the more extreme temperatures as well as wild animals that wander into our yard. So now they live the life of luxury, sleeping on any surface they want to (except counters and tables that's a no!).
Essentially, I spoil the crap out of them.
In fact the male cat is right next to me right now, happily snoring away, after a full breakfast of salmon.
Freaking cats.

I can't be blamed for the depraved minds of my fellow bloggers, can I?
I was just discussing the obvious merits of having your own pussy and congratulating Anok on successfully ridding her own pussy of whatever was ailing it.
She was quite lucky she was able to cure the mange without having to shave her pussy bald, it happens more than you would think.

We are a two kitty house. Kitty Gray adopted us about six years ago. She would watch my Mom walk our golden retriever Peaches from across the street. One day she walked up to our porch and stayed. There was a scary moment when Kitty Gray disappeared and I feared she was taken by a coyote. But she showed up three days later and we brought her in the house for good. Buster was my friend's cat who was given to my grand mother. She passed on last May, the day after mother's day and we took him in. We soon found out he was diabetic but is doing great. He loves to be with us and pet all the time. However, Kitty Gray was very very mad and to prove she was still the queen of the house, I turned my room into her room. The two of them get along occasionally. One final note, I'm obsessed with Kitty Gray to the point that it is probably not healthy!
-
Kitty Gray and Buster sound like my two, Blue and PeeWee. Blue is a biotch whenever PW comes by. She'll scream as if being disemboweled, and PW didn't even do anything! Sometimes PW will run up to her or simply touch her forhead to get a reaction out of her. He knows exactly what he's doing!
Got any pics of your babies?

i have two kitties at home, though one's mine and one's my mom's. mine is about 10 and she's an adorable calico with little white mitten paw markings. our other cat is grey, and he was born in a shelter so he's deathly afraid of people and often runs away, which is pretty entertaining.
-
Here are two pix of PeeWee - when he was a baby and now. He was a feral baby with a broken leg when I found/fostered him, ended up keeping him. His story is on my kitty blog.

Living in the country as we do, we have had lots of cats. Our record high was 19. It would take me days to run through the names and funny stories. If I weren't on a conference call and desktop application sharing at the moment, I would start writing out the War and Peace version of my cat stories. Perhaps I will get back here later to share some with you.

Here is a pic of Blue (left) and Pepper (right), taken before we adopted them by their foster. They were born in a parking lot. The rescue saved the mom and all her babies. Do you see the little brown spot on Pepper's nose? Remember it. I'll be back later with a pic of Pepper all grown up. You will see what happened to that brown color.

OK, Here's my big dumb cow kitty. He's a solid 15 pounder, so he's a BIG cat. He's just shy of a Maine coon cat:
He's sleeping:

And now he's not. (And he's pissed
):

I like big cats. More to hug! I've had a few cats since my childhood, but they were all on the lean side, and pretty tiny.
My Salomé is my first chubby, 5+ kilos feline.
I like to say that my cat is 33% seal (she looks like one when she's lying down), 33% bulldog (when she's standing, because she's short-legged and stocky), 33% grounhog (because she often sits up on her butt, with her front paws up) and 1% cat.
I have a pic of her in groundhog pose somewhere, I'll post it if I can find it.

I was going to post about my cats, but I'm afraid they'll get donkeh slobber all over them and I'll have to give them baths.

Okay, I have a brother and sister who look and act completely unrelated. The male is a long-haired fuzzball in various shades of grey who only wants attention on his own terms. He's stand-offish until he wants you to brush or just hold him, and then he attacks without mercy. Apparently he loves me best just after I've eaten breakfast. He weighs 12 pounds, but I swear if you shaved him he'd be half that. He's got so much fur growing between the pads of his feet that I swear his paws have never touched the ground.
The other is a small tortoise-shall female, who is exceedingly shy around strangers but lives on my lap until the children go to bed, at which time she selects one on whom to sleep. The two have nothing in commen except their birth date and some maternal genes.
I don't have a pic of them on this computer, though.

Oh, maybe I should answer to question too... I don't have any cats, I've thought for a very long time that they are just plain evil, only to then spend time with a friend in Indy who has two cats and finding out I allergic to them! Still, I spent 2 whole weeks around them suffering with sneezes, wheezing, sore throat leading to loss of voice, itchy red eyes and drowsiness - but still.
I think that hold some serious grudges and I'm pretty sure that can talk...-
DM - You poor thing! I have two friends who are allergic. Their daughters are at my house now and then. Whenever I know they are coming over, I vacuum twice, tape the fur off the cusions even if I can't see any, and wipe down the surfaces with a damp rag. Then kitties get locked up in the basement which is a huge playland for them anyway.
For now, it's going to have to be plush toy animals. I am shipping this little guy to you. He's hypoallergenic.

Trying to corner the Kopi Luwak market with farm raised civets and undercut the "Free Range" civet markets ability to produce the worlds most expensive coffee?
I would suggest using some of the techniques in use by industrial chicken producers. Keep the civets in a lighted environment 24x7 and keep fresh coffee beans in front of them at all times. This will encourage them to eat continuosly.. And what goes in, must come out. So this will maximize your production. Also, keep them caged individually, limit movement and social interaction this will again encourage them to eat. They will gain weight and it will shorten thier lifespan, but who cares... at the price your getting... you can buy more. Come to think of it, this sounds a bit like what we are doing wit people. Isolating them from physical activity and social interaction and stuffing thier faces. WOW... we are being farmed! It must be a government conspiracy.

Last cat I had was an orange and black kitten we named pumpkin. She always tried to steal my daughter's food when she ate. And when we would call her from outside, her eyes would glow in the distant lamplight, then bounce rapidly like a couple of ghost lights till her form actually began to appear in the light.
Like the saying goes, "There's a sucker born every minute...and all the cats know where we live!" -
I have a cat named Tobey, he is a champ... he hangs out with the kids and lets them dress him up and put him in strollers he pretty much never is bothered by them! great kitty cat!

I previously shared a picture of Blue and Pepper as kittens and asked you to note the little brown spot on Pepper's nose. Here is what happened to that little brown spot...

I have a pretty and chunky 7 year old calico. I adopted her from the Humane Society last year. She literally stuck her paw out of her cage and touched my face. I always tell everyone that she picked me, but of course, I have no way of knowing if she did that to everyone. I'm a sucker though and it worked! She has lost a little weight since coming to live with me, but she is still quite heavy!

How do I add my kitties pix? I tried copy/paste but it didn't work. I want to show off Kitty Gray & Buster!
-
visit photo bucket and they will walk you through the steps. I go for MEDIUM for the size choice before uploading the pic. It's a good size for here on BC. Once your pix are in, click on the pic, copy the HTML code and then come over here to BC to drop the code in. When you hit enter here it'll turn into the actual pix.
Can't wait to meet Kitty Gray and Buster

We used to have 4. Unfortunately 3 died of old age in the last two years (Minx, Indy, and Mu-cat). Callie is our only kitty now (she's about 8). She's a mixed kitty with black and white markings (stray we picked up) with a cyst in one eye--it's permanent, but our vet didn't feel that surgery was needed--we just dose her with BNP twice a day.
She became an indoor kitty by her own choice, after the other cats passed away. She's on an all wet food diet (can't get the girl to switch to raw
). She's a very sweet girl with only two annoying quirks: she loves to dig her nails into anyone (especially when you pet her), and she meows incessantly.
Some cute things: because of her bad eye, she thinks she can actually scale walls and ceilings, and if you hold her while standing under a ceiling fan, she'll try to launch herself at it. She also climbs the window curtains. And once, she got attacked by a preying mantis, and from then on, was afraid of bugs
-
Poor kitty! Bet she and you were so lonely after the other ones passed away. I lost one cat last year and and two years ago. It's so hard. Two of my cats used to run together, take flying leaps up onto the curtains, then pull themselves up onto the valance rod which would bend and wobble. I was so afraid the whole thing would come down.
Send us a digital pic of your Callie.

I have 5 cats. Actually, 1 mama cat and 4 kittens. Mama cat is Nala (named by my niece after Lion King or rather, Lion Queen). She is black with white socks and is the Queen of my house. She's very bossy and demanding and thoroughly spoiled. I love her to bits and she knows it and exploits that weakness shamelessly. She recently presented me with a litter of 3 females - Bunny, Carrie & Lisa and 1 male - Tommy Boy. Now i have 5 bosses! They sleep on my bed and if i leave to sleep on the sofa, they come over and crowd me off. I discuss different topics with them and sometimes they humor me by pretending i'm as smart as they are. Other times they ignore me. I also have a Golden Retriever who now prefers to stay in his doggie house than brave my 5 kitties. I'll soon be joining him there!

I had kitties and I loved them, but when they passed away we didn't get any more because my daughter is allergic to them. So...now we have house rabbits. Go figure, she is not allergic to thumper!
-
I have four cats. They are all named after products my husband and I sell on our ethnobotanical site. Their names are Aya (ayahuasca) Moon Unit (actually she's named after Moon Unit Zappa), Yopo, and Acacia.
This is Acacia she's my little fatty..

She sleeps snuggled up to my neck in the morning when she's ready to eat she puts her nose on my eye and meow a 1/2 inch from my face..
www.myspace.com/lickherfuckingpicture There are many more pictures of all my furry kids if you'd like to check them out! Also stop by my blog sometime!
Edit: Sorry for the size! I guess she's big even in pictures!! -

Here are two of my past kitties: in the first pic, Minx is the black kitty sleeping with Callie. The second picture is Mu-cat
(forgive all the crap on the table
). -

This is Meow Ming, named after the Houston Rockets Yao Ming. My daughter keeps dressing him in Dallas teams sports gear, even though she named him after a Houston player. Go figure.
He doesn't really like having his photo made, it takes lots a lots of treats. -
I'm actually a dog lover but recently "adopted" a cat! His name is Tatty (because he's a little bit tatty looking)...long story short - I blogged about him last week so check out my blog for the photos (I don't have them on this PC). Tatty was sleeping rough in our garden, he has no teeth and was the skinniest little thing I'd ever seen!! Bless him! I have no idea how old he is or where he came from but he's definitely grateful to be with us. He seems to "talk" one hell of a lot as well!! x

Hi there everyone
Cute thread, and gorgeous pic of your cats!!
We have a part maine coon cat called Karma
I have written a bit about her here.
julesangelsa.blogspot.com/2009/01/introducing-our-pets.html
We have been having some allergy/excessive licking(her fur) problems with her for a while now, not sure it all started She's been checked over several times by vets, who can't find anything in particular, apart from that it could be allergies. Have given her tablets for it, sprays, change of diet etc.. nothing is working. She's not too bad atm, but just won't stop licking/grooming herself. Other wise she's very healthy
-
I had a cat that licked excessively. She coughed up furballs probably twice a day even though she receive hairball goo to lick every day! That's bad for the body and teeth so she ended up getting shaved about twice a year. Anyway, her problem was that she was a nervous kitty with lots of anxiety and licked as a calming mechanism. Perhaps your baby is anxious?
-
-
Ps.. I hope I am allowed to put up a link in my comment? Just that it is easier than writing the whole story again about her in here. I'm still fairly new around here, and a bit confused. Hopefully I will get the hang of this place soon !
-
No problem. I did ask if anyone wrote about their cats on their blogs. You could also have said your wrote about her on your blog and named the title of the post. Readers could then click on your avatat, then on your blog and go find the post. However, someone visiting your blog wouldn't know where to look, so giving us the link to the exact spot was a good choice.
Love the scrapbook feel of your blog! Very artistic, too!

This is my tortoise shell cat Patches:

I also have a black cat named Sassy.
Patches is the only shy cat I've ever seen. We've always been very good to her, but she always acts like we don't want her around, like she has a feline inferiority complex. When she was young, she came home one day with a broken tail and we had to take her to the vet to have it amputated, so her tail is only a couple of inches long now. -
Thankyou busylizzy for your responses
Yeah I'm starting to think it might be an anxiety thing from ages ago when she went missing, and came back traumatized and injured (altho that was a very long time ago now) Maybe she's having a delayed reaction to it now.I did bring that up to the vets, but they said if she was going have any anxiety problems that would have been back then. But who knows? I am only starting to have some of my personal issues surface from years ago in the form of panic attacks, so it could be possible with why Karma is licking obsessively ? I do feed her hair ball formula food and paste. Might have to consider getting her shaved if it keeps going on !
Thankyou for your compliment of my blog also
