Looking through my blog log ( www.howtowakeupearly.com )with Google Analytics I've discovered the following browser stats (summarized for last 3k visitors over last few weeks):
- Firefox - 65%
- Internet Explorer - 27%
- Safari - 5%
- Opera - 2%
- all others - 1% (Camino, Mozilla, Konqueror, etc)

These numbers are definitely out of sync with the info I've read in a number of sources giving Firefox 10 to 20% browser market share. Or is just the nature of the users who visit blogs dedicated to personal development and selfimprovement?

What numbers you've got for your blog?

Haven't checked recently, but Firefox and Safari are in the lead, followed by various versions of iE and then some of the others. Makes sense to me. Many of my students have a Mac. And many informed internet users use Firefox. Internet Explorer seems to be more for the crowd that uses what came in the box when they got their computer.

As a month-old blogger, my blog numbers are too small to be statistically significant. The small-town-life website, though, might be interesting:

    Browsers, 2007 to date:
    78% Internet Explorer
    14% FireFox
    04% Safari
    03% Mozilla
    01% everything else

I agree with stoneman's comment about FireFox and IE and Internet users.

Thanks for a look at your statistics. Hope this helped.

Don't have my stats open right now, but I do check at the end of each month. It's been IE consistently in the lead since I began tracking traffic in 2005, with Firefox steadily gaining over the past year or so, and Safari a distant third.

    always Firefox

But I recently got some stumbleupon traffic and I believe you need firefox to install the SU toolbar..

I don't get why there is still so many using IE 6.
  16. eagerblogger
Most of my readers use Firefox.
  17. demonicume
Internet explorer - which is a shame. i'd like to think my readers were enlightened enough not to use an inferior browser

I use SU with IE, so it's not Firefox only

    Estimation
    IE is about 60%
    FireFox (20%)
    Netscape 10%
    Other 10%
  20. standalone

  21. Profitline

  22. SleepingDude
so far data seems to be quite different...

I tend to agree that casual users tend to use IE, while most bloggers and activer internet surfers probably use Firefox
  23. PrairieBluestem
Definitely Internet Explorer on my sites by a 3:1 ratio. Many of my readers are old enough that they didn't grow up using computers. What they do know, they've picked up as adults. Some of them have learned to use the computer as older adults. I doubt if many of them have ever downloaded and installed a program from the internet. They use the programs that were on the computer when they bought it -- that is, Microsoft programs, including Internet Explorer.
