POINTSHAVERS.COM 2/06/09 - Hi again! We haven't updated our blog in quite a while. We've been doing a ton of behind the scenes work that has really started paying off (literally). Our sports picks are much better after revamping our sports handicapping system.
Let's just hope that we haven't just jinxed our first free sports pick of 2009...
The Memphis Grizzlies hired former Milwaukee Bucks Assistant Lionel Hollins to replace Marc Iavaroni who was fired by the Grizzlies on January 22nd. Since Coach Hollins has taken over, the Grizzlies are only 2-3.
Not so impressive? Well consider this.... During Iavaroni's last days at Memphis, the Grizzlies were 2-17!!!
Don't call it a comeback...but with a win tonight over the LA Clippers, the Grizzlies could be riding a three game winning streak by the end of the day.
And you also might find this hard to believe....
As bad as the Clippers have looked...they are currently playing their worst basketball of the year. The Clippers are riding a 7-game losing streak where they have been outscored by an average margin of defeat of almost 20.0 ppg.
Zack Randolph and Baron Davis are back; but as ironic as it might seem... the return of key starters has also ushered in the return of bad basketball. Coincidence?
Not really. You see, the Clippers were thriving in Davis's absence because LA Clipper rookie Eric Gordon was given the keys to the Clippers offense. And what did he do?
Gordon hit his season high of 43 points and averaged over 22 ppg in Davis's absence.
Obviosuly, it is in the best interest of the team to have Davis come off the bench...but I can think of $11,250,000 reasons why he'll see most of the minutes tonight.
In the only other matchup between the two teams this season, Memphis beat the Clippers by a final score of 93-81.
Take Memphis Grizzlies -5 (-110) vs LA Clippers
