The Beatles. I think I could relate more to their music. The Stones are too off-the-wall for me. (Not a big fan of the lick-sing thing). But neither bands is my all-time favorite. I'm happy with The Cure. (Which I find more Beatles-like in some ways)

Stones! Here's some audio clips from one of the best live bootlegs ever made.

This alone will tell you why the Stones rule. The Beatles were studio monsters. They couldn't touch the Stones live. They just couldn't.-
I agree the Stones are an awesome live band, but I still think the Beatles rule for the total package...the music, songwriting, timelessness, influence on artists to follow, and let's not forget all the drama: Yoko, Linda, Heather, Julian, Pattie Boyd Harrison and Eric Clapton, "Paul is dead", A Hard Day's Night, Help, Sergeant Pepper, their arrests, stabbings, re-marriages, divorces, other bands, etc....

The Rolling Stones are by far the more rocking band and have invented the modern "rock star." The Beatles were the better song writers. Honestly, I try not to compare them because they are completely different---The Stones represent the defining characteristics of Rock and Roll including the attitude, drugs, and sex, while The Beatles are along similar lines of "American Idol," pop culture icons.

The Beatles have the best album in the world; Sgt. Pepper. Abbey Road another very close favorite of mine.
Nothing anybody did compared to their music. The songwriting was incredible. -

Melodically, I'd have to say the Beatles.
Harmonically, interesting. I once read an article where George Harrison said he could name every song the Beatles copied their chord changes from. But that's neither here nor there, it's what you do with it that counts.
I like the very early Stones material when Brian Jones was there. The guitar sounds of the Stones are interesting and their ability to rock is great. The drummer is very good and I used to like Mick Taylors tone when he was them. He was a very nice player.
My ears would probably last longer listening to the Beatles all weekend, and I'd probably shed lots of tears listening to some of their tunes
What's better Thai food or Indian? Both are great
And then there was George Martin in the equation
