   Why the Entrecard limitation?

      The site is called Chain Drop. It's a reference to the practice of visiting one blog after another via the Entrecard widget on each blog. There are folks who faithfully visit and drop cards on 301 blogs every day to build up their credits and push their blogs to the top of the listings. One of the things we're trying to do is to highlight blogs that are well worth reading when you make your daily drop and to let our readers know how easy or hard a site is to drop on. Does the page load reasonably fast? Is the widget above the fold?
      
      Some folks bury their widget at the bottom of the page mistakenly believing this will force droppers to read their content. Not so. Burying the widget almost guarantees your droppers will Not convert to readers. But if your widget is right up there on top AND the beginning of your current post is also right there on top, chances are many of your droppers will become readers, subscribers, Diggers, Stumblers, etc.
      
      Chaindrop is all about How to most effectively use social media sites, much like in the marketing thread I kicked back to the top this morning. (And you're right, Mark, it is inordinately long and I should do a new one but no time today.) Check out Entrecard. It really is a great place for networking if you understand how to use it. And that is precisely what Dane and I are hoping to show you.

      Don't think everyone, who doesn't put their widget above the fold, bury it to get entrecarders to read their content.
      I for one do not build my site around entrecard.
      
      Been thinking about redesigning with 2 sidebars tho, to have more room for such things.

      imho there are two ways to play it on entrecard. You can put the widget up on top and go for the chain droppers OR you can put it a bit lower and focus on retaining visitors by the quality of your site. Seems to me you are having a smashing success on ecard via the latter method. (noting at the moment you are at 228ec/day and #2 in a competitive category)

      No, mark. But our initial approach is purposely intended to gain mind share with a specific kind of person. Our blog reviews are a tool to do that with.
      
      We WILL be reviewing non entrecard blogs as well, but right this minute we are reviewing the blogs most likely to belong to the people we are actively targeting.

    I sincerely apologize for the time it has taken us to get to this, but we've been fighting with some software issues on the blog trying to create a way to offer special benefits to those who subscribe as members of Chain Drop as well as earning the credits to launch our contest.
