You can invite 5 people to dinner.
Alive or dead.
Who would you choose and why?
Do share.

Don Revie (Ex Leeds United Manager) just so I can see his views on the current plight.
Henry the Eighth - So he can bring the food
My sister who died at birth, so I can say hello
Billy Connerly - For pre and post meal entertainment.
Charlotte Church - For her er... singing tallents -
The oh-so famous question. I always struggle with this one. There are too many people to choose from, and me being as indecisive as I am... This is probably going to take me an hour or so.
1. Adolf Hitler - I think it would be quite an interesting conversation .I'd really like to get into his head.
2. Edgar Allan Poe - Do I really need to explain? I'd like to hear him read aloud some of the things he has written.
3. Napoleon Bonaparte - Tons of questions I want to ask this guy. For instance, if he there is anything he would change.
4. Sigmund Freud - he seems like quite an interesting guy. Perhaps he could analyze my dreams?
5. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - A brilliant composer. I would like to know what his inspirations were. Perhaps he could give me tips or pointers.
I guess I was wrong. That didn't take that long
I know I'm supposed to only invite 5, but I choose to cheat and I am inviting one more.
6. William Shakespeare - I don't think I need to explain why
-
I struggled with this also as my first thought was to invite my dad who's been gone more then 20 yrs, as I sure do miss him and would love to see him again.
But then, the thought of seeing him here on earth again or back from the dead sounds to weird, and I think I would rather wait to see him in heaven.
So.... then who would I invite? I wouldn't invite 5 people as I have people around me all the time and most of them come uninvited for dinner. And I don't have anyone famous I would consider either at this time.
My ideal dinner would be with 1 guest, someone who is very special to me and whom I wish we could just enjoy a quite dinner for 2 without speaking, as lately it seems we just cant communicate with words. Wish we could just read each others mind and maybe it would help clear up stuff that is left unsaid or stuff that was said to much.
No words and No actions.
Just peace. -
Okay....good question.
I would invite:
1. British pop singer MIKA (my current obsession)
2. British pop singer James Morrison (another obsession)
3. Elijah Wood (celebrity crush)
4. My late grandma
5. My late grandpa
I'm sure the last two would make my mom very eager to help me fix the dinner. But that's basically my top 5. -
yes, I agree.. good question
1)My father: he disappeared 12 years ago and I want to ask him why
2)Einstein: I love the fact that he was a creative genius and he believed in mysteries of life
3)James McAvoy: He has the best accent ever and he's an amazing actor
4)My significant other because he's my wingman
5)My puppy Abby to keep us entertained. -
1.) The poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge- because his work was so atmospheric but he sadly didn't get to finish much of it before he died. I'd like to pump him for details on where "Kubla Khan" was going.
2.) Screenwriter William Goldman (Princess Bride, Marathon Man, Misery) because that guy really knows how to write effectively
3.) My grandmother, because I've seen pics and she looks like she was such a lovely person
4.) artist Dante Gabriel Rosetti
5.) Jean Shepherd-- (Red Ryder BB gun optional)
6.) Alfred Hitchcock
6.) Johnny Depp (look, a gal can't be just sitting around with dead writers, artists and her grandma...) -
-
gosmelltheflowers, are you talking to me?
actually I sent only couple of mails to the man in several years, since always no response, it make me think of it's like junk mail. It's not a good experience. I'll never do that again, it's said that the one worth your tears will not make you cry...well yes, he is no longer in my guest list.
-
Come on now, 5 is the max.
No token 6th allowed.
Some inspirational stuff out the - keep 'em coming. -
Thanks ThriftShopRomantic - a quick response and most decisive. Not Johnny Depp then?
jacks - no candlestick maker instead of the landlord? Good to see you have your priorities straight.
You're allowed more than 1 GO! if you so desire. It's fun afterall... -
lol.... maybe I will write a novel one day.. oh crap.. my father already did that. I want to translate his novel one day. It's written in Korean.
-
Hello AngeldaVinci
Perhaps I could blog it but it doesn't have anything to do with either of my blogs.
it would be sort of odd to stick it in either one of them. Maybe I will save it for the novel. lol... -
-
hmmmmm i got my five guests
John Lennon
Che Guevara
Cleopatra
MNC (she's far away)
My mom (she passed away 10 months ago and she can make jokes :D) -
-
1. Hugh Laurie - because I luff him.
2. My dad - He died 19 years ago. It would just be interesting to see what he had to say.
3. My BFF - so she could talk and I could just sit and stare at Hugh and she likes him too. :-)
4. My paternal grandmother because I've never met her (she died right after I was born) and everyone says I look like her & walk like her.
5. Satan because I'm already going to hell, maybe I can sell my soul for 100 million dollars & fatal revenge against all enemies. :-) -
It's a personal thing but seeing as you asked we feel that dinner is about entertainment and social comments...Our answer changes depending on what moods we;re in but for now imagine a dinner party with:
Socrates (to get us thinking)
Simon Cowell (for honest opinions)
Neil Armstrong (did he really walk on the moon)
John Lennon (Imagine)
Leonardo Divinci (How accurate was the book and film?)
That's is right now anyway....Cheers! More are welcome, to this post, not to the dinner of 5 you understand! -
Father Xmas
The Tooth Fairy
The pixie at the bottom of the garden
Jack Frost
The monster under my bed.
Which means that as I am almost 40 now, I will be having dinner on my own. Sad.
Now if I was still a six year old, then...
Then it would be great fun, with lots of presents, no teeth (so it would have to be ice cream and jelly for dinner), green and a bit cold and scary!
Mike -
If I could invite 6 people to dinner, dead or alive, I believe I'd have to choose those I love the most:
my husband, my son, my daughter, my mom, my dad, my brother or sister
Let's face it, who really means something to you?

Dad-he's gone, I miss him...he's dad-he loved my cooking.
Peter Mayle-my favorite writer-to thank him for his response to my letter!

Rick Springfield
Sheldon Vanauken
St. Augustine
Bono or Bob Geldof--I can't decide (and sometimes the distinction gets fuzzy for me) -

William Shakespeare....for obvious reasons
Jesus Christ...to ask him why
Albert Eistein...to show him why

Leonardo Di Vinci.....because why not
Adolfe would be an interesting dinner guest.... but If two more were allowed my mum and John Lennon -
I would invite my 2 sons because they are incredible human beings
I would invite my partner because can't be without the other half of my soul
I would invite my Aunty Silv because she is an Earth Angel who walks in grace
Lastly I would invite one of my closest friends
To be surrounded by unconditional love and acceptance thats my idea of the a great moment -
Very interesting to read who everyone would invite. Hitler? Hmmm...yes, it would be interesting to find out more about what went on in this man's head, but I'd want to realize at the time how charismatic he could be and be on my guard.
I would invite:
Mary, Jesus' mother - I want to know her perspective of being the virgin mother and what was it like to raise Jesus?
King David - I love to read the Psalms he wrote.
My Dad - passed away 31 yrs ago, but I still always think about him and wish he and my kids had an opportunity to know each other.
Lucille Ball - I love to laugh and watching her shows always kept me in stitches.
Bob Hope - His take on winning friends and influencing people? -
This is really hard to answer, great discussion though.
1.) My Mother, who died way too young, she was 53 and I was 26
2.) Leonardo da Vinci - to unravel the da Vinci code. Fact or Fiction?
3.) Mary Magdalen - what was her relationship with Jesus Christ?
4.) Marcus Aurelius - "Very little is needed to make a happy life. It's all within yourself, in your way of thinking."
5.) Adam and Eve - what really happened in that garden?
Sorry that made 6 but you can't separate Adam and Eve ;-) -
We love the Marcus Aurellius quote and will post it on our blog under inspiration if that's OK with you Lainey! Do let us know and you're only allowed 5 - so who is it to be, Adam or Eve? :0)
-
Well I would like to invite:
1) Linus Trovalds - Linux creator
2) Steve Jobs - Apple Founder
3) Robin William - Comedian
4) Zinadine Zidane - French Legendary Soccer/Football player
5) Travis Barker - Plus44 drummer and former Blink 182 drummer -
Here is my list...
1.Marian Keyes - Irish Author, I saw her once in a talkshow and boy she is funny in person...not only in her books
2.Lily Allen - I think she's funny too...she's a singer so maybe I could ask her to sing for us later...hahaha
3.Hugh Jackman
4.Vincent Van Gogh - I wonder how he is in person
5. Hiro - The japanese guy in Heroes series.. -
Of course you may use the quote :-) Glad you liked it. Well if I have to choose between Adam and Eve I will go with Eve. I like your reasoning MadameX.
-
Hi Lainey,
We'll use your quote, credit you for sending it to us and post on our blog over the next couple of days at www.gosmelltheflowers.com/blog Feel free to post a comment, we've a few healthy discussions going on at the moment. Cheers n enjoy your weekend, thanx for the contribution.

Thanks to GoSmelltheFlowers for the tip off about this thread :-)
I'd invite:
Stephen Fry, for the witty conversation. And if he proves to be a bit boring, he could always reprise his role as Jeeves, and act as a butler.
Leonardo da Vinci, because it would be fascinating to discuss his work with him, and also because he might tell me the secret of The Mona Lisa's smile.
Lady Godiva, because I'm also a Warwickshire lass and I'd love to discover the truth about that famous ride.
Horatio Nelson because I have always been fascinated by him.
Sean Bean because I'm a huge fan of his acting - truly ;-) I was going to say Johnny Depp, but looking at the messages above he appears to be fully booked. -
-

-
Well, I think I'd invite
Plato,
Lao-Tzu,
Jesus,
Buddha
I prefer philosophical conversations to political ones for dinner. It's all a matter of digestion, you know ;-)). -
I like this question, good one!
Mother Theresa: Good heart and inspiration never does any harm, and the company would enlighten the souls and hearts.
Ghandhi: Again, the same reason.
Anne Frank: I got the feeling that we would have become great friends. I will never know the exact pain of what she went through, but I can say I understand parts of it.
George W. Bush: Maybe I'd just talk some sense into him. It's worth a try, yes? Oh, I know, the three mentioned above could help inspire him for justice and peace. The world is in great need of justice. Really.
Jesus Christ: He is a good, just, peaceful, humble, not greedy, not ignorant, not arrogant we would all love his company. G.W Bush is also religous yes? Maybe he finally could learn the true values of his religion, and find other ways of solving the worlds problems.
Hmm.. yeah I would have added more to the list, but that's about what I thought of now anyway.
-
Barack Obama just to have the opportunity to actually get the sense from his karma.
Nelson Mandela One of my greatest heroes of this century
Ghandi Also 1 of my greatest heroes
And Surjit located at gurushabad.blogspot.com because he is uncannily brilliant and his site is simply incredible. I would love to actually speak with him in person. -

2- Hipocrates : To learn how one can start thinking about solving health problems.
3- Avicenna : To ask him about some remedies to put them in my blog.
Napoleon Hill: I try to make him tailor some new techniques for promotion on the internet.

My grandfather who past away 10 yrs ago.-Sorry I didn't spent more time with him
My son's father- I have alot to say
The band Godsmack..they are my favorite band!
Seeing as inviting Godsmack would make 6 total, I would have to get rid of my son's father! -
-
Ok. Ya got me!
I would invite: Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Robin
Williams and George Carlin. Why? So, the intelligent conversations
and laughs would never end! -
Oh, wow, GOOD question.
I'd invite W.A.Mozart, because he's ALWAYS been one of my musical heroes, and I've always wanted to ask him about how he "saw" his music in his head. I'd also invite Edward Elgar because he's one of the HUSBAND'S musical heroes. J.M.Barrie, because who can resist Peter Pan?! I'm positive he'd be an amazing conversationalist throughout the entire evening.
Bess of Hardwick, because she was just AMAZING!! What a shrewd business woman!! And also Boudica; this was the husband's choice, when I said we needed to add another woman to our dinner party. I'll be honest, I'd never heard of her until he'd mentioned her, so I looked her up, and Girl was a spitfire!! I'd LOVE to listen to her explain the reasons for the uprising, and why she was passionate about carrying it out herself!!
-
hmm there are so many good answers . . . if I choose my fav band Incubus then I'd surpass the limit so . . .
- Shakespeare - i have to meet this supreme romantic
- Anne Rice - admire her creativity & writing style
- Maya Angelou - her poetry is so beautiful & inspiring/ when I've heard her speak she seems to have so much wisdom i'd like some of it to rub off on me.
- Simone de Beavior - i'd like to hear what a female philospher has to say
- Sid Vicious - I'm sure he could easily entertain me -
I think we could get some good discussion going with:
David Suzuki for the mean and green
Stephen Hawking for the theoretical
Steven King for the horrible
George Bush for the comedy
Simon Cowell for the disdain -
Seeing how I've already had tons of dinners with my family, I'm going to forego them for some more obscure people.
John Grisham: I'm an aspiring mystery writer and I'd like to know how he spins his tales.
Gwen Stefani: Because...well, she's hot! And I want to ask her why she sold out.
Myself from 20 years in the future: I want to ask me what I'm doing now (or not) that I'm going to regret.
Myself from 12 years ago: I want to warn me about what I'm gong to regret (or not).
Seinfeld: We'd need someone to liven up the conversation.
I'm sure when I look at this list tomorrow I probably will want to change it, but that's what I have right now. -
Hmmmmm. Good question. Maybe Nietzsche and the Pope. And three friends who would enjoy watching the discussion.
-
Joss Whedon because the man is a genius with the written word.
Rob Thomas because he is an amazing musician and songwriter.
Rachael Ray because I hate to cook and we could chat up a storm.
Salma Hayek because she has an incredible spirit.
Nathan Fillion because he's a great actor and one of the nicest people I've met.
I know I'm strange, but I prefer laughter and music at a dinner party over serious discussion. -
1. My natural father, can't call him my father, ask him why he was so horrible to mum and I!
2. My stepdad, Jack to show No. 1. choice what a good man is!
3. My husband, he never met Jack, they would get on well and also he would like to thump number 1
4. Elton John, I bought every single one of his albums as a teenager, so could sing along and when the fighting got loud we could sing louder!
5. Gordon Ramsay....great chef, family man so he too could join in with the fight! -
1. Benjamin Franklin: a real bon vivant and true genius
2. Anne Frank: to find out what would have been in the diary after she was forced to leave the attic
3. Jackie Onassis: true class personified
4. DW Griffith: did he survive jumping from that hijacked plane?
5. Warren Buffet: he can pick up the tab! -
-
1. Thomas Jefferson. I mean, the guy had to be a GREAT conversationalist.
2. Jesus Christ. Just to see if he's for real.
3. Bill Clinton. The life of the party.
4. Malcolm X. For serious conversation.
5. Ouassini Embarek. An Arab-French actor who I just saw in "Beach Cafe" and who I desperately want to make love with. Pass the wine, please.
chrisjammm.blogspot.com/ -
Julia Child to cook dinner
Salvadore Dali to Mystify us
Bob Marley to provide the herbs and music
Buddha for enlightenment
My girlfriend to share the experience with
Great subject! -
Okay. I have so enjoyed reading your responses. I will assume dinner will be prepared by a great French or Italian chef. I want to be relaxed and enjoy the food, drink and my guests.
1) Sherlock HolmesÂ…seems like a cool dude.
2) GrandPa CharleyÂ…I never met him. He was the Chief Engineer on the Chatanooga Choo-Choo.
3) Hugh GrantÂ…so I could look at him and hear his voice.
4) Mother NatureÂ…to ask about how old the world really is and how she came up with changing seasons.
5) GodÂ…because He is I AM. -
Dubya whom I would stab with a steely knife to kill the Beast.
William S. Burroughs for insight into contemporary civil madness (although Alan Ginsburg might be a more "wordsy" guest)
Karl Marx to find out whether he turned in his grave. His observations about the 20th Century I'd like to hear. (although I'm more inclined to want to listen to Bakunin's stories of the "revolutionary" circuit of 19th century Europe)
Mary Magdalene in her own right, and also because behind every great man there's great women (I've certainly found that true)
I'm tempted to say Gandhi or Buddha but I'm gonna send my final invitation to Bill Gates instead. Steve Jobs says he'd be more lively if he'd dropped acid or backpacked the globe when he was young. But I figure it would be pretty interesting to hear his take on things as one who did not strive to be the world's richest but rather to write user-friendly code. And beside, to cultivate a friendship with one who has deep pockets might not be such a bad thing. -
Only five is difficult. I would say my mum and dad as they are in spirit I know they would be there anyway. Firstly my partner Daniel as I could enjoy it without him being there, secondly our friend Darren just cos he is great, then it would have to be Julie Felix as she stands for all the ideals and things I value and she is a lovely lady, next Quentin Blake as I think his illustrations are magic and finally Caroline Myss who I have many questions I would like to ask.
-
1. Allah SWT, My God, if possible, i'll happiness, forever
2. Ibu, My Mother, he always support me
3. Bill Gates, just my idol.
4. Mr Bean or Mr Rowan Atkinson, I can Laugh.
5. My Baby.... -
1. Roald Dahl
2. Robin Williams
3. Bono
4. Thom Yorke
5. Damien Rice
Apparently I would prefer to dine with men.
-
Does "invite" mean that we are at six or "invite" means 5 strangers dead or alive plus your family?
the first option: then I would love to invite Johnny Depp with his wife, Helena Bohnam-Carter and Tim Burton and Jane Austen plus my family: Adam, Ada, my brother George and sister Justyna
the second: Johnny Depp with his two children, my daughter Ada and George Clooney
- as I see, george is necessary anyway -
-
Mine all came, William Shakespeare, Leonardo de Vinici and Jesus Christ discussed the De Vinci Code and how close was it (I know the truth hehehehe)...then Jesus and Albert had a heated debate on his theory of relativity, Albert insisted he was right, Jesus said he new better....
Ghandi....sat just sat there....looking for meaning..
All in all a very interesting and inlightning evening had by all... -
Though 5 seems good number of guests for dinner I think it's not enough for me! I'd love to have more guests to feed them - my family itself is much larger: what about my siblings and their partners, parents, grandparents, etc? I know the idea - to invite inspiring (or not) people, but conversation with Jesus would be meaningless if I can not share it with my beloved ones
Well - maybe meeting Johnny Depp I could keep for myself!
-
What a question. I hope I can do it justice.
I'd probably invite:
My Grandfather because he died last October of cancer and I miss him.
My friend Randy who also passed away a few years ago.
JFK because he was someone I admire whom I was not able to know.
Sacagawea because of what a great woman she was.
and
Shia Labeouf (the actor in Transformers) because I admire him as an actor and a person who has risen above having a parent who abused drugs.
That's my list. Though I admit it was difficult to pick, geez. I knwo when I hit send, I'll want to change it but I'm sticking with this. -
Nobody in particular, as long as they are fun and food loving people, and, why not people you can make good music with.
-
Oprah- I hear she's an absolute party animal
Michael Jordan-I've been just dying to rub that bald head since I was in 8th grade and take him on, in a game of 1 on 1
Denzel Washington-I just think this man is charming-I think he would be a good dinner date
My birth grandma-Never got to meet the lady, but I have a feeling she was fabulous
My old salesrep, I want to know if his death was suicide or not-I need to clear that up in my head -
truthfully?
1. Patineta, (this is a scary one)
2. Lisa, who I was friends with in JR high school
3. Mary Ann, my best friend from high school
4. Faye Grant, an actress
5. Marc Singer an actor -
* Leonardo da Vinci
* Napoleon Bonaparte
* Thomas Edison
* King David
* Natalie Portman
Leonardo will bring the pasta.
Napoleon will choose the wine.
Thomas will arrange for some dim lighting.
David will play some soft music on his lyre.
Then, I’ll ask all these boring dead guys to leave, and stay with Natalie for the rest of the evening. -
This is a tough one, I'd like to have a huge affair but if it can only be five...hmmmm
# 1-my mother - shes been dead 5 years but damn, if I could talk to her...
# 2-Can God come? - sure would like to ask him if this is what he had planned
# 3-Cameron Diaz - always had a thing for her
# 4-Jimmy Hoffa - Where the heck have you been hiding yourself?
# 5-my father - so my mother could smack some sense into him -
I thought you said dinner? If I knew sleeping accomodations had to be arranged as well, the guest list would probably have been different.
-
Katherine Jenkins and then place four stratgeically placed mirrors around the dining table to pretend she's one of a set of identical quintuplets... and if that fails...
Murray Gell-Mann, Mozart, Galileo, Leonardo Da Vinci, Socrates (Greek not Brazillian) -
1 My grandfather who died when I was 18.
2 Benoit Mandelbrot
3 Leni Reifenstahl
4 Harold Lloyd
5 My bf because we do important things together. -
Buck Henry, Woody Allen, Groucho Marx, Dennis Miller, and any available 2007 model Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
-
Moses....Did he literally do what was said in the bible?...parting the red sea etc. ?
Jesus Christ...Hear the words of his teachings directly from his mouth.....
Ghandi...See if he could formulate a plan to shift the war mongers to other industries that do less damage to the human race and planet earth....
Nelson Mandella...The finest example of a living human being that I can think of...
Audrey Hepburn,Marilyn Monroe,Loni & Pamela Anderson....ooops....The fifth would be Mother Theresa...."I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?" -- 1974 interview." -
Albert Einstien - just to see his mind at work.
Jesus - There really are some questions I wish could be cleared up before I get to Heaven, while I still live it here on earth.
Stephen Hawking - Can you imagine the conversation with Hawking, Einstien, and Jesus all in the same room?
King Arthur - If he shows up, we know he really existed!
Samuel Clemens, aka Mark Twain - for comic relief. -
My (and my wife's) family because they live overseas. That's many more than 5, but others would be:
Jesus' disciple Thomas ("doubting Thomas") because I identify with him.
The homeless person I pass every morning on the way to work (good thing to do but very scary)
Nelson Mandela (I'm a white South African who's had his eyes opened by a great man)
Orlando Bloom (just to keep my wife silent for the evening - just kidding) -
Totally impossible to answer i'm afraid so I'll chicken out and list 5 fictional characters:
???????????
Oh, that's a bit tricky too!
Capt Jean Luc Picard - conversation
Manuel (from fawlty towers) - to clear the table
KITT (from knight rider) - to save on taxi home
Tim nice but dim (harry enfield)- so i look intelligent in conversation
Lara Croft - in case we can't find the cutlery -
1. Elvis presly - How does it feel rocka nd rollin' with him. i was not yet born during his time.
2. Kurt Cobain - I want to know how is it Knockin' on heaven's door
3. Angelina Jolie - i want her to tell me about her Thomb Raider's stunts
4. Oprah - Want to know how she spend her millions
5. Bill Gates - want him to teach me how to make millions -

1. Father of my friend Cindy. I would invite Cindy to join me for the dinner. Her father passed away when she was a teenager, and though she is a young woman now, he still thinks of him everyday. I think she would give almost anything to be able to see him one more time.
2. Jimi Hendrix. What a guitar god he was. Besides being a cool cat, he has a gentle soul from the footages I've seen and the way people spoke of him.
3. My great-grandmother. She raised me when I was a child and I never had the opportunity to thank her. She was one of those people unselfish people who always thought of others first. She never scolded me, even though I was a mischievous kid. She was just a beautiful human being.
4. My best friend Tue-Nam. I would trade seeing any famous person or celebrity to hang out with him. We are more like brothers than friends.
5. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.- what more could I say about him? -
1. Paolo Maldini- how to play soccer(espically defending)
2. Micheal Dell- how innovative you can become
3. James Heitfeild- Metallica rocks!
That's it I guess!
-
Wow, the question looks so simple, but it is hard to answer 1..., 2..., 3..., 4..., 5... Why do I need to invite anybody at all? The Friends needs no invitations to say hi one to other.
I have heard that there are countries where it is normal to make the arrangements for the visiting of even the parents, but such things looks wild to me. I'm happy that such "traditions" don’t inhabit my homeland yet.
If I would organize a party, why should it be limited just to five? I would be happy to meet everyone passerby. My doors are open to all.
Dear flower, I'm happy for a chance to participate in your discussion, but I don’t know what to reply to you in the concrete case. We may choose what cinema to go, but not the friends to talk. We can choose between lots of things, but the friendship (dinner party) isn’t something to purchase. -
1. Jesus; because anything or time with Him is perfect
2. the apostle, Paul; what an interesting and determined man of God
3. my grandfather; I just love him and miss him
4. my son; so that he too could have the pleasure of the other 4 guests
5. my little 83 yo neighbor, Liberty; she's a delight! -
hmmm
I would invite
Jesus,Bob Marley, Malcolm X, John F. Kennedy,Osama bin Laden
Let's not even talk about the atmosphere at this table, just eat!! -
My grandpa (who's past on), Johnny Depp (a gal needs a little eye candy!), Orlando Bloom (ok, just more eye candy), George Carlin (I love his comedy) and Paris Hilton (just so I could smack her).
-
I like George Carlin...I haven't heard him for 30 years....
I like the one he did on class clown about...the kid asked the teacher an out rageous question about something and then at the end said...'and then they crossed the international date line"
I still use that quote to this day if people ask me complex questions when they are trying to show how brilliant they are
you're funny

-
1.) Bono - because he has been my rock legend since I was a teen.
2.) Larry Mullen Jr. - because he has been my drummer legend since I was a teen.
3.) The Edge - because he has been my guitar legend since I was a teen.
4.) Adam Clayton - because he has been my bass legend since I was a teen.
5.) My daugher - so could meet all my rock legends since I was a teen.
LOL -
Salvador Dali
Al Capone
Jimmy Hendrix
Luciano Pavarotti
Halle Belle
I think the blend would make for an interesting evening, just as long as big Al doesn't get pissed off lol -
1. John Lennon
2. Hunter S. Thompson
3. William Burroughs
4. Mitch Hedburg
5. Frank Llyod Wright
Why..there all hero's of mine. I'm not sure where to begin, but I'm sure this crowd would make for some interesting dinner conversation. -
Hmmmmm, ok... had a think and I reckon the following.
1 Jesus Christ - Son of god... have some questions for him.
2 Budda - To thank him/her for being.
3 The head of the Catholic Church - To start an interesting conversation regarding the true meaning of religion whilst Jesus was there.
4 The Devil - Must have balance in all things... would be interesting to see who he conversed with the most.
5 L Ron Hubbard - Be interesting to hear what he has to say when in the company of the above.
I think it would be a really interesting dinner myself. Especially seeing I would be stirring the conversation up a lot! -
But.... for a lighter dinner party, and considering I am male.. lets just invite the top 5 playboy bunnies for an evening of fun and frivolity! lol.
-
Ok..
today, it would be Eddie Gomez the bass player, Ike Isaacs the guitar player, Jon Christiansen the drummer, Anouar Brahem the Oud player and Zbigniew Siefert the Polish viloinist -
1) Bill Belichick- Patriot's Head Coach...I often said this even before the videogate controversy, but now it would be THAT much more interesting. I coach high school softball and think the man is a genius.
2) Jon Bon Jovi- One of the only men in my book who can pull off leather pants. LOVE him from the 80's. LOVE him even more now because he is a husband and father AND he knows how to give back to society. Oddly enough, he is friends with Belichick.
3) Emeril Lagasse- I love to cook. My kids love to watch Emeril. He's highly entertaining.
4 & 5) My Grammy and my uncle, Vic, both of whom who have passed. They loved to cook. My uncle owned a catering company and loved football. They would both be entertaining and would be entertained by the other guests. My dinner could actually be in their honor!
Also, would love to be a "fly on the wall" for ianc13's dinner;) -
Hi,
Nice question. I read above comment and notice one thing, most of the people looking for those people who not even know them. do u think it's best people to be with us?
I m more realistic person. I would Invite following 5 people.
1)My Wife
2)My Mother
3)My Father
4)My Kid
5)My Best Friend
Above 5 people are those person with whom i can enjoy my self BEST, EXCLENT. 100%
100% -
Robert Schumann - because he composed music from the heart and dealt with bi-polar syndrome.
Beethoven - because of the music he heard in his mind.
Maria Malibran - Because she was the original operatic diva and a dramatic mezzo soprano
My voice teacher - so he could share in the discussion
My pianist - so he could absorb the discussion and participate. -
I can think of one right off hand. Hitler's mother, prior to her giving birth to Adolf. I'm sure I could've convinced her in the merit of abortion in just that one case.
-
Just to give this invitation list a different twist, I would invite:
1. Jesus Christ, founder of Christianity. 2. George Fox, founder of Quakerism, since I'm a Quaker. 3. Martin Luther King, Jr. civil rights leader. 4. Martin Luther, the reformer. and 5. Rufus Jones, Quaker professor and author of my generation. -
Wow! So many great lists! Here's mine, in no particular order:
*The Dahli Lama -- he would make everyone feel comfortable and put a smile on their faces
*Jesus -- I'd love to hear his ideas, unfiltered, and I'm sure the other guests would have many questions for him too
*Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert (they count as two halves of one whole, right?) -- because they are quick wits who would keep the conversation lively and interesting!
*Keanu Reeves -- because I've had a crush on him for many years
Or, if he's not available, an excellent substitute would be Johnny Depp, for his stunning looks and smart, dry wit (not sure if he'd be available, though, since he has been invited to so many other dinner parties!)
*Katherine Hepburn -- she would be absolutely charming and would dazzle everyone with her intelligence, and I would be able to tell her how much I love her movie "Bringing Up Baby" -
-
Hmm... I'm pretty shy and would find 5 famous people daunting so I would invite four of my close friends and one person we'd all enjoy being with, such as any of the Prophets and Patriarchs from the Bible, Gloria Steinem, Oprah, Pierre Elliott Trudeau (and Margaret, his ex-wife, for that matter), Charles Dickens, Iris Murdoch (before she went batty), Janis Joplin, or my deceased Mom in her teen years. I will wait to see Jesus one-on-one...
-
I would like to invite you all here r.yuwie.com/dloadwie

Bono Vox - to sing and drink Guinness with me,

2. Oprah
3. Keanu Reeves
4. William Shakespeare
5. Alexander Dumas if he can come w/ a translator -
Oh man...never saw this one yet. Let me think for a moment.
1. Sgt Randall Shughart - KIA Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. Posthumously awarded the medal of honor for sacrificing himself to defend the crashed helicopter of Mike Durant (super-six-four). I named my son after him and would much like for him to meet his namesake.
2. Hannibal Barca. I want to ask him about his preparations for the battle of Cunnae - which still serves as the classical example of a "double envelopment" of an enemy army. I'd also want to know why he never managed to sack the city of Rome itself?
3. Robert E. Lee. As a southerner, he's the "marble man" - the man which we hold higher than any other. I'd like to talk strategy with him....see what exactly it was that was on his mind the first couple of days at Gettysburg. Such an iconic figure considering he was offered command of the U.S. Army but could not "raise his sword against Virginia" and instead chose to rebel.
4. Bear Bryant - the man that put Alabama Crimson Tide football on the map. Widely regarded as perhaps the greatest coach in the history of college football. He retired shortly after I was born and died soon thereafter. I got to play high school ball for a coach that had played for Bryant in his youth. The man was more than a coach - he was a father figure, and intimated that he was emulating what the Bear had been for him.
5. The first human being on earth. Whether you think this was "Adam" or whether you believe it was an offspring of something not quite human yet that coud be considered the first true human - I'd want to see them and learn as much as we could about them to see how far we've come (or perhaps how far we've fallen). -
hm, can we make this a weekly meal?
Week 1 -
Jesus of Nazareth
Buddha
Mohammed
Lao Tzu
(For the conversation and to see if they live up to their PR)
My Ima, she lives in Israel now, and I haven't seen in several years Besides, she wouldn't be overawed by the other guests, and would enjoy the discussion. -
I've always admired inventors/scientists and plain talkers.
1. Thomas Edison
2. Leonardo da Vinci
3. Nikola Tesla
4. Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens)
5. Albert Einstein -
Daniel Craig (no surprises there), Jack Nicholson, my cousin crazy Barry, Louis De Bernier, and Chuck Palanuik (probably mispelt his name). They are all men of course but if I could have five women
Kate Adie,
Fay Weldon
Kate Moss
Jordan
Annie (my BF) -
John Wayne - my hero growing up
Ronald Reagan - favorite president
My sister - she died as a baby
Jesus - help regain my lost faith
My dad - want to have one last dinner with him. -
Ray Kurzweil
Aristotle
Albert Einstein
Vesalius
Ira Flatow (lol)
Basically all for the same reason, that is to have extremely interesting conversations. Can you imagine?!
ohh and PS. Ronald Reagan is the devil. Among many other things he is the reason why our modern energy policies are so messed up. -
Madonna
Bill Gates
Michael Jackson
Paris Hilton
and a good photographer
this will make a good photo ops
-
-
1. My oldest son (who's dead) to ask him why.
2. George Lucas, just to pick his brain, besides I think he'd be a good conversationalist, once we got him started.
3. William Petersen, hey a gal needs some great eye candy.
4. My father (who's also dead) so he can knock some sense into the aforementioned son.
5. My youngest son, because he's always missed his brother and is also a George Lucas fan. -
My father-in-law, whom I have never met as he passed away three years before I met my husband.
My husband so he can chat with his father
Nelson Mandela because he is one of my heroes...there was no bloodbath at the change of government and he's the reason
George W. Bush but only if someone would put a dirty sock in his mouth so he'd have to listen
Jesus, so I could get the straight skinny -
-
Gads..."just" 5 is hard! Off the top of my head...
1. My adoptive dad (who died when I was 9)
2. My biological mom or dad or both
3. Roger Waters
4. Carl Jung
5. Stephen Hawking -
kevin trudeau
oj simpson
pat robertson

god
why? because i want some answers from the first four and i figure god can get them to squeal like pigs with some of his holy hijinks and all. -
Jesus Christ
The Prophet Mohamed
Anne Boleyn (the second wife of Henry VIII)
Princess Di
Ian Smith
Why? I would want to hear the conversation between JC and Mohamed on world affairs and the state of religion and what role(s) it plays in world affairs. Anne and Di to talk about their husbands and if being royalty is all that. Ian Smith to talk about the state of Zimbabwe. -
George Bernard Shaw - I would love to have a banter with the guy, I'm sure we'd get along great.
Jesus Christ - I would love to know what he REALLY meant.
Brad Pitt - gagged. Just shut up and look pretty, while I talk to the two previously mentioned. (Have hair extensions before you come, thanks.)
My grand father - I was 6 months old when he died, but I've been told he was a funny guy. Let's see.
I feel pressured to invite a woman... Who would that be... I don't know. Alanis Morissette maybe? Seems like a fun enough chick. -
Hmm, I would have to say:
- Shakespeare, it'd be great to see what he was like, and if he really was a Catholic spy.
- Oscar Wilde (can you sense a theme?)- I love his writing and history so it would be rather interesting to have a chat with him. Plus I think he'd have a lot to talk about with Bill.
-Morrissey- He loves Oscar Wilde and has an amazingly dry sense of humour. Plus he's one of the greatest lyricists yet.
- Simon Amstell- He'd be great as he would just sit there and dirext insulting jokes at the others' all night, it'd be brilliant fun.
- Noel Fielding- He has a brilliant sense of humour and is very abstract at times, so conversation would be good. -
-
Rena Klingenburg
My dad
My mom- (they both passed away So they have to come from the heaven)
My little grand daughter Zoe (7 months old)
and my dear husband who is here with me any way.
