I've had laryngitis and the flu for going on a week. Doc gave me antibiotics for bacterial infection, but says mostly it just needs to run its course. I took yesterday off from work; today I want to go home and go back to sleep.

Is anyone else sick? How long have you been sick for?

I have it now. And it's keeping me up, since 3 am. I was inside a bus stalled in traffic when suddenly the airconditioner bogged down and I caught the flu. Well, I don't know if that is the culprit but I cannot think of another reason how I had this darn flu. Good luck to us...

    Here, here!

Got me, and got me good. I hadn't been that sick for years. Strong fever, the whole body aching, and sleeping for 20 hours a day. It's been a week, and I'm still not over it. I still sleep a lot, have the sniffles, and my energy runs out quick.
I haven't bothered with antibiotics, but I have a nasty caugh which sometimes keeps me up at night. If it continues, I'll get a prescription, but I'd rather not. I agree with letting this kind of thing run its course. Sleep, vitamin C, honey, chicken soup, drink a lot of fluids, and eventually, it will go away.
    I hope...

Yes, yes. I slept almost all day yesterday. So unlike me! My voice is now gone *completely* People are looking at me funny...could be my voice. Could just be because I'm funny looking.

Not the flu, but I do have a cold (that subsides, then flares up again. Yay!
    ).

I had a bacterial upper respiratory infection that lasted for over three weeks. Even with two antiobitcs. This is the first week I'm finally feeling almost back to normal!

It is cold and flu season anyway. I've avoided hugging and kissing the "infected", as much as I could, but it got me eventually. I think if you're due to catch it, you'll catch it, period. It's hard to avoid viruses when they're just everywhere.

I guess I get lucky. I have not had the flu I think for like 20 or so years. I don't know. Not since teenager years.

Just out of curiosity, do any of you drink orange juice every day? I have juice every day of my life. I do not take any vitamins though. Maybe it is all in the juice! It has a lot of vitamin C.

No flu here (Knocks on wood).

I did have a cold this winter that seemed to last for months. It just wouldn't go away!

Me too, and I'm only three days in. You're all making me nervous with stories about how long this lasts. I really can't afford to let this run beyond the weekend...

I'm sorry. I hope you feel better very very quickly. There definitely seems to be quite a bad bug going around, though.

I just had the flu last week! I was knocked out for 4 days! Well, not literally... I spent like 4-5 hours a day awake, but couldn't make it far from bed. The worst part was not being able to eat any food, but having that constant starving feeling. No fun...
