I like all kinds of music like chillout, jazz, lounge, classical, classical rock... except the top 50s pop.

I have a special love for Cuban Jazz.
I have no latin background but Cuban Salsa + jazz is just naturally beautiful.

Does anyone here likes cuban music too? Or what else do you like other than pop.

Or if you haven't heard of any cuban music, here's one of my favourites.

Presumably you would also appreciate Cesaria Evora

And perhaps our own Kwela-influenced Jazz like Tananas (by our own I mean South African)

Personally, I have a soft spot for the ominous energy of Germanic folk-inspired bands like Garmarna and Haggard:

Garmarna doing a traditional track called Herr Mannelig

    Haggard doing the same song

But that's the Viking blood in me.

I like Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones.
They are very experimental and what comes out of it is a musical orgasm.

    You might like it.

I do like it. Both the bass and sax. I think they are using a filter for the sound right?

Most pop music makes me throw up. :/ But there are certain pop performers who I actually enjoy.

Yes, I admit it, I like Emma Bunton. Sue me.

OK, here's a link, check her out.

Thanks! They remind me of some russian songs.
    3. ghostytwofish
Russian?! ... British, perhaps, but Russian?

You say Russian, I think Romuslokus.
    4. begga212
haha i dont know why, I think its her voice. And the rhythm of "Downtown"
    5. legbamel
Ha, he writes Russian, I think Red Elvises.
  5. saxyphone
Yeah.. I think they are using some sort of wah effects clipped on their mic and redirected into the mixer. Both the bassoon and the sax.

The bass is using an effect too. Not sure exactly what though.. but I think most bassists would know. lol.
    1. saxyphone
oops.. i forgot to reply to the reply above it and created a totally new answer thread. lol. My bad. Sorry.
    2. begga212
You might like the sax solo here.

edit: im not sure if its sax actually
    3. saxyphone
lol.. I think you were referring to the trumpet solo.. and yes its very nice!

Ver nice bossa nova beat.. and the vocals are great! Im checking out other videos of it as well. You might want to check out Buena Vista Social Club if you already havent.
    4. begga212
haha yes i was gonna say.

Yes, I like Buena Vista Social Club.

If you appreciate piano as well, check this "love scene".
They are both great pianist, haven't met each other for 18 years and communicate through piano when they met again
    5. saxyphone
oh wow! Very nice video begga212!

I can relate to that. My dad is a pianist and I have had the opportunity to have a father and son jam once. And it was the best jam session I ever had. There's just something about it that makes you feel so connected, musically and by blood when both shares the same passion and able to convey it through a song. Totally exhilarating. Thanks for sharing that awesome video!

I like easy listening and classical crossover. Sarah Brightman, Il Divo, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli, Charlotte Church...

I can't stand 99% of today's pop music. My biggest complaint is that nobody enunciates anymore. It drives me nuts!
    1. saxyphone
      yeah.. its true aprilfreelance!

Seriously, I don't want any future musicians or singers to be re-living Britneys Gimme More or something like that.

On the contrary I would still want Quando Quando Quando being played 20 years from now. That's the difference between the old and new school.
    2. begga212
saxyphone: haa yes quando quando should stay.

Aprilfreelance: I think the hiphop culture "influences" them.
    3. legbamel
I think the fact that someone pays them millions of dollars to bounce around looking cute influences them. (That, and Paris Hilton. I blame her for every problem with young people.) But the money, the very young ages of "up-and-comging stars", and effortless availability (and assumed use) of drugs makes the downhill slide so very, very easy.
