Because as we know, people tend to search for things that they're not supposed to know. And what's the problem of this? Simple, their seek may never have an end and this can be either frustrating or refreshing. How? Simple, it cam be frustrating because there's never an end but for some this may be refreshing because their lives will be an eternal seek, the reason of their lives will never be achieved so they'll never stop. This can be good for some as some people think need a goal in their lives to keep going.
So, as we can see, it's mainly because we seek what we may never achieve and why there should be something we should never achieve? Why can't we achieve everything? The ultimate knowledge? The master skill? The utmost control? Why? Maybe because we are not prepared and will never be, maybe we will only be prepared to this when our own race extinguish or maybe this is a way nature found to prevent us from destroying ourselves as this that we seek may be the source of our own destruction. But still we seek, we blindly seek and we expect to reach it, we want it, we long for it in our hands.
I believe that even if we knew the consequences we would still wish for it because it's within our nature to want more and more. It's out instinct to seek for something that will elevate our minds and give us the sensation of superiority among living beings, among known and specially among unknown forces. Since long ago we wanted to take the control of this spaceship we're boarding. This spaceship we call Earth and long to preserve even though we're being much more destructive than preservative.
So, to sum everything. Why?
Because I'm hungry. -

Inclark,
from a blogpost
...it is not correct, in the natural order, to say that we begin by reflecting upon ourselves. That is not what the child does!...
...for some time now, the Moderns have preferred the infantile spirit to the spirit of infancy - although they are persuaded of the contrary...
