Based on my post "Are you concerned about the environment", there seems to be some interest in this topic...

I have joined several GREEN, Alternative Energy groups around this site, but there is surprisingly little traffic there.

This was probably one of the key points that President Obama based his campaign on. I would have expected to be overrun in the Green Groups, and very few people have actually checked out my blog.

Does the appearance of the over commercialization of the term "GREEN" turn your off immediately?

Interesting, no opinions on the lack of interest in clean, green energy and technology, or environmental health. Given the interest that the pubic had prior to the election, I would have thought there to be a lot of people with opinions that they would be eager to share.

I think that the groups here are slow, most of what happens is on the main page.

However, many US citizens are a more concerned with the state of the economy at the moment. Hopefully the green tech industry will push forward and not only create new jobs and industries, but also sustainable, renewable green energy.

I agree with Anok. The group discussions are very, very slow with little participation from the members. I don't believe it's because people aren't interested in green issues but rather they attentions are taken up in other matters.

The economy is certainly a distractor. I guess I view anything that can put $2000 - $5000 per year back into the pockets of every household...as a very promising economic stimulous package.

I also see the "Green Sector" as the equivalent of the Public Works bill that Roosevelt used in the 30's, only private rather than government sponsored.

Oh well, I dont suppose I am going to enlighten enough people to draw any attention to my blog as long as these economic concerns are weighing so heavily on everyone's mind.

But there are some very nice blogs in the GREEN communities on this system. WOuld be a shame to see them languishing in obscurity when they hold so much promise for a bright and healthier future.

I certainly agree with you - it's a way of saving money, creating jobs and easing over consumption.

Part of the Stimulus package is (or was?) going to green technology.

yes, the terms green, eco-friendly, and organic are all over the place today. some companies use them just to sell products not to actually help the environment at all.

I have actually started contacting product manufacturers about thier products and packaging. There is at least one beverage bottler that is very aware of the issue. They recycle everything in thier offices and in thier manufacturing facilities. They have reduced thier water consumption, they have redesigned thier water bottles to use aboit 30% less plastic and they have identified each part of the packaging as recyclable. I think that they have even gone one better and made the top out of the same kind of plastic as the bottle so there are no issues with recyclers rejecting them because of mixed plastics.

So while it is often used as a buzz word to garner a little more consumer attention, some companies are actually talking the talk and walking the walk.

The topic is rather debated to death. Too much talk but no actions. That is what I feel. So no need to talk about it all the time. Enforcing the measures away from fossil fuel is fighting a giant against these corporate companies...

How about working collaboratively towards a solution, rather than a debate?

Excellent point Anok. Thats what a number of us are doing. We are independently developing fuel saving technologies, alternative fuels, renewable energy technologies etc... all with out own money and time. Therefore we are not locked into anyone or anything.

Most of us are working towards making these devices and technology freely available.... for the benefit of mankind.

We are working on a few designs ourselves at the moment. Bench testing is needed, but there are a lot of great ideas out there with regards to renewable energy.

My husband and I are contemplating that, if we could build a renewable power generator that we're designing big enough, we would offer free power to the city residents. The only thing we'd have to charge for is the upkeep and employment. But it would be a not-for-profit type of business.

      Anok:

Are you at a point where you would be willing to discuss some of the details or technology that you are working on? Many of the people that I am aware of are working around Hydroxy Gas Generators or Hydrogen on Demand systems. If you think about it, as I pointed out in your group in my Energy Anarchy post, Fuel Cells run on Hydrogen, and if you are not creating yourself, you are going to have to BUY it and that leaves you right where you are today... dependent on some company to sell you FUEL and you are still a slave to thier whims.

I think the theme of green energy is not too interesting for some people, so that the blog is built on the theme of this relatively quiet visitors

They get all the traffic they deserve. Traffic is based upon promotion and search engines. If you don't do a good job promoting a subject no one knows about it. If you do a lousy job getting ranked on search engines, you have only yourself to blame.

Because the web is mostly thought of for entertainment. Moralizing is not that entertaining. If you can make a green blog entertaining, they might come more quickly. The subject is relevant.

I am for true environment not for all the green business hypes around what seem more to be a pretext to pump people's money. Environment is about Quality, true Quality doesn't cost and we should be able to have cheap and low pollution technology whereas all the Governments and Big Businesses in the World want to cease it as a pretext to tax Billions for "repairing" the climate or produce electricity which will cost hundred of percent of time more than with current technology, racketing the 3rd world countries for of course building the new plants for that etc.

But I find your blog since and usefull so I should become a reader of it
