Why did you pick your FORUM Name and Avatar for BC?

Why did you choose the name that you are using?
And - like me - I picked a Witch's hat for my avatar - WHAT reason did you choose YOUR avatar for?

My blog is Trottersville, dedicated to a comic strip of the same name and done by yours truly. The pig in my avatar is one of the main characters, Reuben, and the username boytrotters sort of fits in with that whole piggy theme.-

Why did i choose the avatar? I really disliked the default, and needed to find a way to distinguish myself. I'm very big on the idea of solid colors.-
Well, that colour is solid to within an inch of its life, that's for sure! I think that's what made me sit up and take notice of your avatar to start with!

I picked my name because I live in Arizona and I'm also an atheist. The letter "A" for my avatar is one of the more popular anarchist symbols. I chose that because I'm an anarchist, as well as an atheist. My blog starts with an A so I thought that worked out well, too. I should make people aware that atheism does not imply anarchism, in fact I am a huge minority among atheists.-

I picked my name for SEO, and my panda because people have a lot of trouble insulting a red panda, and the panda has really enabled me to make contact with a lot of people.
When I used my real picture, I had one mad blogcatalog person sending me love letters, so I thought she'd be much more happier with a pet instead. And whenever she sent a love letter, I'd just say "Pat the Panda will you"

My user name relates to my employment.
I am a RF engineer.
RF being Radio Frequency.
At times when working with some equipment or on a tower it is posible to get an RF burn.
RF burns hurt (a lot) and since the job has heavy electronics work involved I choose to use the terms 'Hertz'.
rfburnhertz has been my user name almost every where online since I first got online.
Apparently I have two avatars here.
I see on avatar (myself) within the threads and another of a star wars toy I merged with Elmo for my son when I am viewing the discussions directory. -

SiuilARuin is the name of my blog...and it's the name of my blog because it's the name of one of my favourite folk songs and mirrors my personality a bit.
I picked my avatar because it's pretty...that's about it!-
I do think it is VERY pretty, btw.
I also think, siuil that I'd love to see the lyrics of that song. -
Well, the lyrics aren't so much important to me as everything about the song. If you're really interested I wrote a post about it and there are 2 versions of the song in the post too.

I am a recently discovered alcoholic and am in recovery in AA. Anonymity is crucial, so I didn't want anything that linked to my name in any way. I only started writing and blogging when I stopped drinking. And I wanted a name to remind me of who I am and why am here. As a single mum of 2 kids, "Alcomum" came to me pretty naturally.
The silhouette of someone drinking wine as my avatar epitomises my life for the last 4 years! Drinking lots of red wine every day in secret. No one knowing I had a SERIOUS addiction to alcohol as well as struggling on suffering from depression and trying to manage 2 kids and a business. Even I didn't realize the extent of the problem. It reminds me of what I DON'T want to go back to.
It has been suggested to me a few times that I should change my name and avatar to something "more positive" and more representative of my recovery than my problem. But I am a firm believer in instinct, and mine chose these after much deliberation. I do not see that being certain about where I have come from and reminding myself where I don't want to be again is a negative thing.
In every AA meeting, I introduce myself and say I am an alcoholic. It is part of who I am. And why I am in recovery. The moment I stop seeing myself and showing myself as an alcoholic is the moment I will be most at risk of drinking again.
I am proud of where I am now. But only because of how far I have come. And from where.

My forum name is a reflection of my blog name, which is A Wave Will Rise on Quiet Waters, and I chose that because it's pretty much a description of who I am -- a normally quiet and reserved person until that wave came in and I decided to be brave enough to begin blogging. lol-

Rivy is short for Ralph Ivy. My blog Notches is a combination of NOtes and sketCHES. ( - where-in I write about what I draw and draw about what I write.) Obviously I like to play with words.
The word "Notches" I also connect with Robinson Cruso (sp?) notching his days on the island, or Danial Boone carving into a tree trunk that "here I killed a bear". I'm marking my own days of a life being lived.
Avatar is me. Presenting my "best" face. A smile. I had wide dimples as a child - the one thing I got complimented for - so a "smiley face" is the mask I always wear in public. (It can become tiresome. Even at a friendly party I will periodically take time out - go to the bathroom or step outside to be along ("I gotta go have a cigarette" is my excuse) so I can relax my face muscles. It's also probably why I have always needed to live alone.
