Why do website hits go down at the weekend?

Why do website hits go down at the weekend?
Does it mean people spend their time surfing at work instead of working at work?

Cause people are out doing stuff -- like PHYSICAL stuff - walkin' the beach, hittin' garage sales, goin' to the movies... yanno - the real world as opposed to the Internet wwWorld -
I often wonder if it is part of the reason why we are in a financial mess, have bankers been surfing and tweeting during their working day instead of concentrating on figures!

A lot of people do their blogging activities while working, but a lot of people spend time enjoying their weekend as well. I don't post much on the weekends for this same reason.-

I try not to post on weekends myself, but sometimes that's when I get the free time to write.
I wonder how many bloggers avoid posting on weekends for this same reason? -
I do a fair amount of my writing on the weekends as well, but wait to post them during the week when there's a better chance they'll be read.

They're doin' stuff... like others said. And cleaning - like in my case.

I think more surfing gets done during 'work hours' then people really understand. -
My stats go up on the weekends most of the time. -
Yeah my stats go up also. I get about 50% of my visits on one of my sites n the weekend. I suppose it varies from one niche to another -
I have always assumed that the reason my stats go down dramatically on the weekend is because my readers are enjoying some time with family and friends. I may blog on weekends but I don't usually publish because I don't get significant traffic again until Monday. -
Maybe cause lots of people surf the web all day at work;)
