they do the shopping almost 3 days a week.. or even more!

they love these new bags, shoes, dresses, or just to go window shopping is enough for them if they don't have the budget...

why do women love to shop?

it's called retail therapy. I describe it in my blog.

It's what keeps us from castrating the morons in our lives who drive us crazy. =) or shooting up the workplace...

I don't love to shop & I don't even do it once every 3 months & when I do, it's at the 2nd hand store, typically only for something I might need for work or my art business (frames, etc.) As for window shopping--never.
Once again, a generalization is proven wrong.

I hate every form of shopping. When I have to, I know exactly what I want, go in there, get it, and get out. If I don't find what I want right away, I will usually just leave.

The only exception is looking for books. I can stay in a book store for hours, but I don't really consider that shopping, only technically.

Well I certainly cannot speak for every woman (nor would I want to), but I like to shop because I like fashion. I like trends, and playing with certain looks. I like spending money because it gives me a sense of control... so on.

I'm not sure how you figure that WOMEN are the big shoppers. Just because men don't shop in the same form as women, dosen't mean they don't shop. My ex had every man-toy imaginable, every game, every jersey and about 65 pairs of sneakers...if that ain't a problem, what is?

Amen! My Ex-husband was a habitual shopper of the worst kind - hours upon hours of window shopping and walking out with a sweater! Drove me nuts! I only shop when I have a purpose - I need a new purse (because the other 75 I have just won't do), new shoes for work, new clothes for work, I'm having a bad day and a new shower curtain and bathmat would look wonderful in the house.... LOL

I dislike shopping quite a bit. When I need to shop, I know exactly what I'm looking for, head straight for it, and get back out of the store as quickly as possible. I'm not much into acquisition or wasting time, and those seem to me to be the two things that characterize shopping.

I don't. I need to be able to go in, get what I need and then get the hell out of there asap.

I love it!!! I'm always playing let's make a deal. Even at big chains I negotiate better prices...sooooo much fun!!!

i'm afraid i have to confess - i fit the stereotype. however, let's keep in mind that the operative term here is "stereotype". i am the ONLY one of my women friends who does actually love to shop. most i know can't stand it.

as for the WHY part, i think it might help if i explained to folks who are always asking this question, that households need certain things to function. for example, we routinely run out of paper towels, soap, toilet paper, automatic dishwashing detergent, cat litter, etc. don't you? i find it's rather easy for the person who's not responsible for keeping track of those things to wonder why they always need to be shopped for.

as for clothes and junk, let's face it, women's fashion trends change more frequently than men's and i, for one, shop as a way to stay current. i buy when my budget allows, but mostly i consider shopping a hobby.

I love to shop alone or with my other girlfriends...there's always something I need for myself, for hubby, for my son or my home.
    It's so de-stressing!
Hehehe... I always need new dresses (fashion, trend etc), new matching shoes, new matching accessories, ... there's always something new in the market. :-)

That's their favorite past time while their husband is out to work. I think it is better than getting new partner while their hubbies are out.
