correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it judged by who clicks on your blog link from your profile here on blogcatalog? if someone adds your RSS feed to their homepage or makes you a favorite, it will bypass getting clicked via this site? I'm not sure - I care more about the stats kept by wordpress than through here (which is a blog rank of 36.2)

I'm sorry but I do not have a definitive answer for you. I do have some help to offer though. This post will help you with boosting your BC Blog Rank.

Possible factors contributing to your BC Blog Rank
(1) How frequently you publish new posts;
(2) The number of BC members you have marked as friends, and the numbers of members who have marked you as a friend;
(3) The number of neighborhoods you have joined by adding blogs as favorites, and the number of members who have added your blog as a favorite and joined your neighborhood;
(4) The number of blogs you have rated and reviewed, and the number of members who have have rated and reviewed your blog as well as the values given;
(5) Your forum presence and what you offer there to the community, as well as your group participation may be factors in the calculation.

What do the BC Blog Stats mean?
Blog Rank - a special formula that analyzes your hits, views, comments, neighborhood members and other special secret ingredients to create a numeric score based on a 100 point scale. Your Blog Rank is primarily used to determine the order blogs appear in our Directory and Search Results. The higher your score the better your placement.
Views - The number of unique visitors that have looked at your BlogCatalog listing
Hits - The number of unique visitors that have clicked through to your blog from BlogCatalog.
Note 1: Not all of the factors that go into the BC blog rank calculation algorithm are made known to members, as if they were, then members would "game the system". The BC blog rank is internal only. It does not affect your blog's Google page rank, Alexa rankings, etc.
Note 2: I have observed the BC Blog Ranks are updated every Sunday at midnight when they start from ZERO (0) again. -
"How frequently you publish new posts" I have been trying less but much bigger posts to see how they rank on google. I think the bigger one's are doing good. Before I was doing 150 - 400 words and 1 picture post's. So I try 4600 words with video's and pis just to see what happend.

Interesting! Where do I see my blog rank?
Edited to say -- found out how on a previous thread. Thanks timethief! -
The blog rank is confusing. My blog rank jumps up and down seemingly without any logic to it. One day it's 28, a few days later it's 48, then it jumps down to 30, up down up down... Sometimes my music blog has more, sometimes my personal one, and I have no clue why. The amount of visitors seems to be more or less the same, and I post with fairly regular intervals. I tend to just go "whatever" and ignore it altogether.

I try 4600 words with video's and pis just to see what happend. It has been one week now that monster post has beem up there on my thomas the tank engine blog and its doing very good. I will now try to do a post that big every 30 days and I realy think you all shoud do the same. But that 4600 words post was lots of hard work to do.
