Why I had been posting questions on Da Medja

A big shameless thank you to the useful comments on my recent discussion board postings. It helped me raise some intelligent questions at the Conference in Bonn (even if they weren't my own!)

I have started blogging on it (with nomadic-wisdom and the travel entry still pending).

    Nice blogging about the role of media. Media does all kinds of things. It can act as a government propaganda tool (Fox News), opinion making (Huffington Post), or a vehicle for dissemination of information (Yahoo News, BBC). I try to get a little taste of all kinds.

      Thanks. There is another debate in there about "influence or information"....I could go on and on!

      Yep. There is both. And it is almost useless to try to differentiate (some people really do, honestly believe that Fox News is Fair and Balanced). So, I just accept that it is all there, and I try to get a taste of it all - Fox, MSNBC, BBC, NY Times, Economist, Newsweek, AP Newswire etc. Then I form my own opinions. I'm glad that they are all available.

      I think you can go wider still on your media quest. BBC World Service are ace, but I was never very impressed with the BBC UK coverage of Iraq.
