Why is there so much money in right-wing talk radio?

Rush Limbaugh just signed a contract where he'll receive $38 million dollars a year for the next eight years plus a signing bonus where he'll get over $100 million. Why do you think there is there so much money in right-wing talk radio and so little in left-wing talk radio?

Because people who have money want to keep it, so people who advocate letting the poor die in the streets while the rich build a fifteenth vacation home are preaching to those who spend a lot of money on themselves.
Edit: That said, I don't think Al Franken was exactly making minimum wage.-
Yeah, sometimes generalizing comes across as petty. Actually many of those conservatives give lots of money to charity and many conservative churches give lots of money to programs aimed at eradicating poverty.

Define "lots", dlowe. I think you and I have very different views of what can be considered generous or socially responsible. In my experience--and I have quite a bit of it, working with both non-profits and in law and politics--I've never encountered a right-winger who did any meaningful sharing (note that I've switched back to right-wing, which was the original term, from conservative, which has a much broader construction). I'm sure there are a couple of exceptions somewhere in the world, but generally speaking people who believe that it's all well and good for pharmaceutical companies to knowingly kill people as long as it keeps the profit margins up and generally benefits the economy aren't big humanitarians.

I found one link that claimed Al Franken was making 3 million a year, which is a hell of a lot, but nothing compared to what Limbaugh is getting.
Don, you're right... a big part of their audience is working class or blue collar. I'll have to listen to Limbaugh one of these days to find out who is advertising -- however painful that may be!
