Why Pinot Noir?

We run a website, we're heavily Cabernet drinkers, so when we hear that Pino Noir is THE wine to drink right now, we wonder why...
What's your grape and why?

Tempranillo and Garnacha would be my favorites. Why? because they make up the mainstay of Spanish Rioja.
Grenache - Fr. Is also the main grape in most Southern Rhone Chateau neuf du pape wines, Which has to be one of my all time favorites. -
Probably because of the lasting effects of the movie Sideways.
I know I've been drinking it ever since. -
Don't know why you'd say its man made. The tannins come from the seeds and the skins.
It does make the Dry and almost tart taste in the red wine, and i only prefer those wines with richer foods.
The combination of a dry (tannin) and the sweet Grenache makes it perfect along with for instance pepper steak with mushrooms in cream sauce
Try a sweeter red wine the next time you have something spicy. It has a cool effect.
The spices are less noticeable, and the sweetness of the wine is balanced out. -

Depends on your taste. Their are snobs that won't drink Merlot only because they've seen the movie Sideways and want to sound snobbish. Personally I like a good Cab, Merlot every now and then, Shirazz and of course Pinot.
Pinot's my absolute favorite. MacMurray makes a relatively cheap one from out in the Russian River valley that I think is to die for. I got our local wine store guy turned onto it (In PA you can't buy wine and beer in the same store - I know -it's backwards)and now he stocks it for me.

weird, archaic "blue laws" - we also can't purchase liquor, beer, or other "spirits" on Sundays. I've demanded that I be allowed to purchase Jacob Marley's soul, but alas, they refuse to yield.
Edit: Even more bizarre - there's no such thing as a six pack in Adams County, PA...you can only buy beer by the case. I always argue that encourages binge drinking.

Are blue laws laws enacted after prohibition? We used to have very tight pub laws here when I first started going in pubs they opened at 11 am then shut at 3pm and opened again at 7pm and closed at 10 30 pm. It was this that encouraged our binge drinking culture because everyone was trying to throw enough beer down their necks before closing time. We now have 24 hr opening and while it hasn't totally solved the binge drinking problem there are signs that it is changing attitudes and drink related violence is down.

I do prefer cabernet to pinot noir. I love pinot blanc, though. It's become very difficult to find unblended, around here. I used to keep bottles of the Mirassou pinot blanc in the house but now I can't find any, from any vineyard.
kdawg, you think it's backwards there? This is the only state I know that doesn't allow any alcohol to be sold in the grocery or convenience stores. And stores can't be open (no stores except grocery and convenience stores, not Target or The Gap or Barnes and Noble) between midnight and noon on Sundays. Yet we've got massive teen binge drinking problems. [rolls eyes]
