It will not "die" on that day.

  6. hatingtherain
No. It's just the end day of the Mayan Calendar. Or something. There's also some astrological significance on that day, but I can't remember what it was.
    1. vijayanths
you may read my article following the link I have given in the discussion question.
    2. hatingtherain
I might, that stuff is fun to read.

The tabloids had a field day with 1999 and 2000 years for the world ending. Every week another story on the world ending. They were all wrong. I stopped buying those papers soon after.

The world will probably be here until the Sun finally turns on us. I think we got about 5 billion years left or so. Give or take 1,825,000,000,000 days left. I think that is 1 trillion days.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun
    1. vijayanths
Im afraid your figure is not correct, billion years is correct ,though. thanks for the response.
    2. anarooscorpio
I agree. It's not for our generation or lifetime to worry about that.
  8. temujin143
You will be long dead before the world ends. So stop thinking about it. Just live.
    1. vijayanths
very true, thanks for sharing your views.
  9. Friday13
    No, it will not die.

And both my blog and homepage are y2k12-compliant.
    1. vijayanths
      great response,thanks.
  10. Theresa111
Absolutely not ... no matter how everyone who believes that will try to make it come to pass. On December 23, 2012 (four years from today) ask the question. Have fun and relax. We're all only going to be on this Earth ride for as long as we have been appointed the time. Love one another and rejoice.
  11. vijayanths
Hope we will see that day passes on as any day.
  12. Jeunelle
    NO...not to worry.
    1. vijayanths
      thanks, for the response.

    1. Dukepro25
My question is, what will they do on Dec 22nd 2012? lol
  14. vijayanths
    Happy new year to all,thanks.
  15. Dukepro25
The world "as we know it" will change, but the Earth will remain.
  16. gecko68
I agree, the Earth will survive, mankind may not be so lucky.
It's like the Asteroid Apophis, possible impact on Friday April 13th, 2036. Mankind may end, but the Earth will survive.

The truth is this, for mankind to survive, mankind must be reduced in population. If you believe in the Gaia theory, then the Earth/Nature will find a way to reduce the population. A super bug, or natural disaster would do fine.
    1. vijayanths
Oh, thats lot of valuable information from you. I only can hope I will not be there in 2036 to die. In case If I am living until then I will think of you while dying.
  17. cranelegs
actually i kinda look at it as the earth kicking us off the planet so it doesn't die.
  18. urikalish
Earth won't die on 21 December 2012, but your bank account might do just that on 19 January 2038 03:14:07 UTC (the Y2K38 problem).
    1. vijayanths
this is a news for me.thanks for the info.
  19. Madeleine
I don't think we get to decide when the world ends, that is just a day the mayanns predicted it would end i guess. For example, if I said that in 3000 a.d. we would all turn in to robots, would you belive me?
  20. vijayanths
I wish I believe you , but sorry.thanks for the interesting views.
  21. Arcticulates
No! It won't... because my grandchildren have to have time to grow up and be President of United States!
  22. therealanon
Yes. If not before. Look at what's going on around us.
  23. SolReka
There are many weird and wonderful conjectures when it comes to the discussion of Dec 21 2012.

The majority of people equate 2012 to the Mayan prophecy, however there are many other tangents to explore regarding what will really happen come Dec 2012.

Here is a link to a post which describes 9 events which could take place come 2012.
    solreka.com/blog/2012/why-world-will-end-dec-21-2012/

I do believe that mankind is on the cusp of great changes, perhaps this is what 2012 represents. A new dawning... the Golden Age beckons.
    1. Arcticulates
      @SolReka:
Very good posts. I will send the url to my friend who is really into all the studies about this date!
  24. SolReka
    @Articulates
Many thanks for those kind words. Glad I could be of service.

The important point of the exercise is for people to have a good understanding of the ramifications of 2012, then to do their own independent research on the subject.

And finally, it is up to the individual to make their own mind up about what they 'feel' will happen come 2012.

We live in a dumbed down, barcode society, so it is important for people to regain the ability to educate themselves.
  25. LiquidPop
According to some source, we are suppose to cross the galactic plane within a few years. The galactic plane is the most densely populated part of our galaxy. According to these sources, this can disturb the Earth's magnetic field and cause a lot of stress on the Earth. The stress may cause an increase of storms, earthquakes, etc. If these sources are right, many people will die but it is not going to destroy the Earth.

The one thing that we should worried the most is nuclear weapons. If the Earth is going to end in 2012, it would be because of the use of nuclear weapons. Instead of fighting each other, we should unite and stop fighting so the human race can move to the next new age. I know this isn't going to happen because of money and religion - war is inevitable.
    1. vijayanths
thanks for the information. Good job.
  26. patricekarst
I wrote a whole piece on this on my blog..

    1. dosox
@sensico I don't have a time machine with me.. Go travel with V
    2. sensico
well you're pretty lame dosox, how could you not have a time machine. I will travel with V on the time machine, but not until I finish writing this stupid paper about Plagiarism.
    3. dosox
@sensico lame good guys finish last
Plagiarism???? Take some from my blog too
    4. sensico
are you calling yourself a good guy...how vain and arrogant of you. You're now a bad guy in my book...which I guess would now deam you as desirable...ok you're back to being a good guy

    1. sensico
almost done just 200 more words to go
  31. toaquarius
That's a good one, I also wondered about the same question some time ago.
After one entire year's research, reading a lot about this topic and viewing related documentaries (that I’m glad to share on my modest blog) I strongly believe that Earth will not end at all... but fortunately will be the end of an Era.
Actually lots of people all around the World are in fact progressively awakening to a new conscience, a new way of understanding ourselves, and are opening their eyes to the real meaning / meaningless of all what's around us today.
Our global society, values and inner selves should evolve to ‘something’ better, higher, and 2012 might be the turning point.

It may sound funny to someone... but obviously I do not really care. Wish you all the best!
    1. vijayanths
oh, that is the meaning of it? end of an era, not the earth? good points there.
  32. vijayanths
hahahaha , I now think and feel I had already traveled in the time machine with you the smart lady, thanks.
    1. dosox
      She's still writing
  33. Genvieve
I hope not. the mayan actually have dates going as far as another 13000 yrs after 2012. maybr that will be the end
    planetearthlooksblue.today.com/
    1. vijayanths
oh, really? but I have read that Mayan's calender ends on this day. Did you look at this

  34. halthouse1
Not to be a downer, but the way things are going that day is just as likely as any other day. To many nukes in to many crazy hands.
    1. vijayanths
      It is true halthouse.
  35. SolReka
I doubt very much that things will be anything like what they are at this current point in time. A lot of change is unfolding, and very little is reported on the 'tainted' media portals.

In the UK from March this year, we will have our emails tagged, then under the guise of IMP our lovely government will start tracking all of our website traffic, then we have RFID, databases, and dog-tagging the population.

Perhaps 2012 will be the dawning of a new Gattica!, or let us prey a V for Vendetta kind of scenario. At what point will people turn around and say... enough is enough!

Perhaps this is what 2012 is all about - a massive socio-political change on a global scale.

Are you a red pill or blue pill person, this is the question you need to ask yourself in readiness for the events leading up to 2012.
    1. vijayanths
      thanks for the info SolReka.
  36. ceo08
Considering the world didn't end on 1/1/00, or 6/6/06, I think we're in pretty good shape.... unless something completely nutty happens like a nuclear war or something, I wouldn't be worried.
    1. vijayanths
let us hope there is no such war in future.
  37. lnclark1950
    Only God knows for sure.

It can't die because according to the omnipotent death clock, I am going to die March 7th 2056, and since that is on google, it can't be wrong

    1. vijayanths
I'm going off in 2032.I thought you have endless life.
    2. ArsenicCookies
haha nah all of my user names are song titles
  39. vijayanths
@solReka really? then how on earth did the earth come into existence?
    1. SolReka
      Great question vijayanths.

So you believe in god as a way of explaining how the Earth was formed?

I do not know enough about geophysics and astrophysics but perhaps Earth is the formation of debris, gases, and rocks forming and coalescing over a millennia to form a body of rock we now know as Earth.

I have to ask you one question vijayanths...

Do you believe in heaven, if so what is heaven. Do you have a physical entity in heaven, can you touch smell, taste? Do you sleep in heaven. How do you perceive heaven? I would love to know.
  40. Floormodel
I hope not, my son's birthday is 12/22 and he'd be super pissed off.
    1. vijayanths
Your son's birth day will be passed on without pissing off.
  41. DangerMouse
It better not! The year England gets to host the Olympics, only to have that very year end like that!!! Psssh! Damn the predictions and myths and whatnot!

    We'll be fine
    1. vijayanths
You can witness the Olympics for sure, why do you worry? there is no danger mouse.
  42. SolReka
Still waiting for your answer vijayanths.

Give me one good reason why I should believe in a God, any God?
  43. vijayanths
sorry I did n't know you were waiting Solreka. here is my answer.God faith is mere faith only because we had been brought up with the belief.

    Yet, my logic is:

the sea, mountains, earth, planets, stars are real and they exist. The sun, stars have enormous energy. all these have a harmony. Some super power must have created all these and managing all these things. I define that super power as GOD.(oh God, what a long reply)
  44. SolReka
"we had been brought up with the belief."

I totally agree with you. Religion was created in order to control the masses. The origins of religion stem from secular and pagan traditions and the evil few who want to control the many.

"stars have enormous energy. all these have a harmony" - yes they do, perhaps this ties in with the superluminal wave that holds the Universe together. The fabric of which is called Zero Point Energy.

Regarding a super power creating these things... Why??? How about this thought...

There is no beginning, no end. Think of 'this' Universe as a moebius, a never ending coil wrapped around itself. Then read about 'branes'. Perhaps our Universe is just one of many Universes.

Or... we are part of a giant hologram, whereby nothing is real, and it's all just an illusion. The Earth isn't real, I'm not real, you're not real, nothing is what it appears to be.

These are just my views on how I perceive my God/s and life, the Universe and everything else.

Going back to OP, only 3 years and 330 days left lol. Bring it on.
    1. vijayanths
yes, you are fully scientific when you say that, starting from the big bang theory.Your knowledge is simply great, I admire you for that.
  45. Norski
    Unlikely.

But quite a few best-selling books about 2012 will probably be written before 2013 rolls around.

There's an interesting point made in the Zits comic strip, last week ( www.arcamax.com/zits/s-476536-428134 ).
    1. SolReka
Funny cartoon strip. Unfounded science - that's certainly what it is.

I agree there will be a LOT of people jumping on the 2012 bandwagon, in particular hollywood.

Doesn't mean I have to stop believing great changes are on the horizon.
  46. Norski
Ah, I think I see. Crackpot doomsayers have been saying the world will end in 2012, therefore religion is a means of controlling or appeasing the masses.

Works for the campus coffeehouses. Me, I'm not so sure.
  47. ETfbvfwGAaz
The Earth is already dying - haven't you noticed?
    1. SolReka
Everything with a finite life starts dying the moment it's born.

The Earth has been dying for a millennia. Way before man arrived.
  48. vijayanths
yes when will it be in a critical condition?
  49. HollytheHousewife
I just don't like to think about the world ending.
It's a scary thought. If it happens then it happens.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
    1. vijayanths
I am sure earth is too young to die.You may find this interesting:

My dear man, the Earth is dying - humans are overpopulating and polluting the Earth. Not only is the Earth dying (i.e. the Earth is more than just a planet - it is actually a live living breathing entity in its own right) but Earth humanity is commiting a grievous sin against their own evolution and existence and ultimately against Creation, our source of Life and Being.
    1. SolReka
      Well said that man.

Gaia is dying, and so too is humanity.

      Change is needed.
    2. vijayanths
      good thought ET.
  51. jackpayne
Yes. You will no longer have to worry about shower heads not working...or halitosis.
    1. vijayanths
      good one jack.
  52. 4Freedoms
    Rumors..We cannot predict the future.
    1. vijayanths
yes, I do agree with you. But there were a few great astrologers lived on this earth in the past who predicted perfectly, Nostradamus for instance.(the recent one)Agathiya, pulipani and many great astrologers lived in India.
  53. vijayanths
@SolReka, thanks for the link, I enjoyed reading the post.

If it does die on Dec. 21, 2012, we won't be around to complain about it on Dec. 22 anyway.
    1. vijayanths
we won't be around to tell that this is not just a rumor.
  56. jugsi
I'm certain the world will not end until 2012. I mean, for some it will. There are many things to happen if you go by the Bible. I agree with the idea that there is not much time left, so let's make the best of it! For example you can advertise for free thru a simple contest on jugsi.com/?p=3024.
    1. vijayanths
that's a real business man in you jugsi.
  57. AlexGreat
that's the wrong date it's supposed to be 21.12.2112 i.e. a hundred years later but that can't happen with the American way of putting the month first so the world should have ended in 12.21.1221 and if that indeed happened I didn't notice
    1. vijayanths
      a complete change in concept?well, I did n't either.
  58. Bayho
I was scared about it for along time. They even made prophecies! like having an "anti christ" as our president and/or a black president. I did a lot of research and the old testament states "No man can determine the hour or day the world will end" The mayan calender states that 2012 the world will end. Maybe it will end in THEIR civilization not ours. I say we still have a few hundreds or even thousands of years before the earth is gone (= I bet you we will all celebrate Xmas on 2012 ! haha
    1. vijayanths
yes I'm equally sure we would celebrate the 2012 Xmas. I think the earth is too young to die now.It may live for several millions of years before it goes off.
      Did you look at this,pal?
      vijayanths.blogspot.com/2008/12/will-earth-die-on-21-december-2012.html
  59. gecko68
I don't believe the world will end, it will go on. I do believe that it will be a day of reckoning for the human race. Each day we rape this planet with no regard for the balance of nature. Recently the news was filled with stories of killing wolves so that they won't kill caribou. By that logic, we should kill humans so that they don't kill the wolves.

We are an arrogant species that places themselves at the top of the food chain, when anything from a microscopic virus to a grizzly bear could kill us easily.

The Earth will always try to restore itself, and if it means shaking us off like fleas on a dog, it will do it.

Read up on the Gaia Theory.
We spend countless hours wondering about alien life, when in fact WE are the aliens on this planet, and we treat it like a rental car... with no care or concern for the future.
    1. vijayanths
well said gecko68.Hope we would change gradually.
  60. creemos
    No.

Also, it is utterly nonsense to assume that we are the "aliens" on this planet. Everything has been given to us for our provision - but, with stewardship.
  61. donkage
the mayans couldnt even predict their own demise.
the same people who believe and spread this idea are the same people who feared y2k and say the moon landing was faked. to even give this idea more then a few seconds thought is a waste of time.
  62. gecko68
Yes, but maybe it's has nothing to do with prediction, just facts. Evidence exits that many ancient races were visited by aliens. Drawing exist in Mayan, and Egyptian structures.

What if those aliens living on the dark side of the moon planned for our destruction on that date?

    www.think-aboutit.com/Moon/alien_moon_base.htm

Our arrogance blinds us to infinite possiblities
  63. SolReka
Great article gecko. Perhaps the moon is a space station.

Every object has a resonant frequency. The resonance of the Earth (Schumann Resonance) has been 7.8Hz for thousands of years. Since 1980 it has risen to over 12Hz. Coincidence perhaps or part of Dec 21 2012.

Interestingly, some experts indicate that the moon is hollow.

Now putting these factors together, it doesn't take a leap of imagination to see that it all starts to make sense regarding the argument for great changes arising in the lead up to 2012.

A great book to read is Stark by the comical genius that is Ben Elton - the book kinda sums it all up ref 2012.

What do you think will happen on Dec 21 2012: -

I depends what you mean by 'die.'

If by 'die' you mean 'explode' or 'liquify' or 'start barking loudly,' then I would say yes, it will die.
  65. qelqoth
It's just viral marketing for another crap Hollywood blockbuster by Roland Emmerich.

hmm The apocolypse in 2012, there are more 2012 theories than just the Myans...not that I believe it though

    No! But i believe someday...
  68. Norski

  69. LiquidPop
Like all prophecies, the Doomsday 2012 is just another self-fulfilling prophecy. These prophecies work similar to how fortune tellers tell their patients' fortunes. Tell people what they want to hear and their minds will play tricks on them and make them take actions to fulfill their fortunes. Most of the time the patients don't even know that their mind is playing trick on them.

Human beings have the power of free will which makes it impossible to know the exact future. By saying that December 21st 2012 is the end of the world is nonsense and illogical. We have the power of the free will, that means we have a choice and the ability to change our future of experience. Remember, the future is not certain but infinite. The past is the only thing that is certain because it already happened.

If the mass consciousness of humanity chose to believe that December 21st 2012 is the end of time, then it might happen. This is very unlikely so y'all don't have to worry. This doesn't mean that the future is going to be smooth. Unfortunately it is going to be rough the way things are going right now.

I wrote an article about this not too long ago, just visit my blog energyfanatics.com and type in "doomsday 2012" in the Google custom search form and you should find it.
    1. vijayanths
Very nice views there LiquidPop. Thanks for the link.
  70. becthomasphotograp
I highly doubt the world is going to end in 2012. Someone is always saying the world is going to end, they want more drama in their lives I think.
    1. vijayanths
Yes, becthomasphotograp. But it is so interesting to discuss about that.
    1. vijayanths
thanks for the invite.Mayu. I will definitely visit your blog.
