Not a huge contest, but I am offering 200ec to anyone willing to try a recipe from a particular book and report back how it comes out. See details at

    Well.

    Um.

I'm all about fudge and was going to say that I was in regardless of the credits, until I found out about the cheese...

according to Paula Deen her recipe that involves melting Velveeta and butter then sifting in cocoa and confectioner's sugar makes Great fudge. I am dying to know if it's true but not quite willing to mix my good cocoa with trailer trash cheese to find out. (Hence the attempt to pay someone ec to do it)

Even if we told you it was good...would you brave it? I'm willing to MAKE it, just not so much to TASTE it.

Plus, where do you even GET Velveeta cheese?

I think Velveeta is still (sadly) available at most supermarkets. But yeah... cooking with it seems... dubious

A colleague brought in fudge made with Velveeta over Christmas and it was great. I didn't know it had Velveeta in it til after eating it but I tried to discern the taste in my second piece and I just couldn't taste it. I'm very good at reproducing recipes by taste but this one would not have worked since I couldn't tell the Velveeta was there at all.

Bleh! Let us know if anyone takes you up on that rather adventurous offer.

I think she used the same recipe on Iron Chef America, in any case teamed up with Iron Chef Cat Cora they won the battle.

200ec to techfun. But Tiffany is probably right that even having been assured it is good, I still prob won't try making it. Maybe should have made the contest someone to make some and let me taste it

    This sounds good

    4 cups sugar
    2 cups milk
    1/4 stick oleo
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1/2 large jar marshmallow cream.
Boil sugar, milk and oleo to soft ball stage, full rolling boil, stirring constantly, at least 10 minutes on medium heat. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients, and beat till blended. Pour into buttered 9 X 13" pan.

Velveeta? Wow, I would have never thought to use that (ewww)! I would have volunteered except I made tons over the holidays (without the cheese). I'm fudged out.
