Anybody else excited for this?! It comes out in just two days. Some official leakage has come out as to the new improvements (some of which are in the beta, some are not). I've included some of the larger improvements and changes in my little write up.
Looks a lot better than 2.7

I installed the Beta version of this, and it's messed up one of my blogs so badly I've had to delete that blog from here and EntreCard because it won't load. It worked for a few days, but now it takes forever to load. The main page of my site loads fine, but the blog doesn't. I hope someone has reported this bug and it gets fixed before 2.8 is released. It's never happened to me before, and I've played around with Beta versions before.

Some official leakage /// ??
lol - it's been on dashboard of every wordpress blog actually for almost a week now!
I'll probably update it automatically as it comes available at the top of my blogs - on the lower traffic blogs - until I see what's going on. The larger blogs have other writers involved, and always hate to screw things up that stops production

@petlvr
I'm choosing not to name my friend because we have a mutual no naming agreement in place. Normally, he does his web development testing and feedback, and bug hunting and bug fixing stuff on one of his computers that's strictly dedicated for that purpose. Then we hunker down for a couple of weeks, and when the instant adopters experience glitches with the new version and/or plugins, then he wades in again and looks for fixes (along with other techy types, of course). Bottom line: we are never in a hurry to upgrade.
P.S. I apologize for the typo.

btw - everything is working fine with my wp2.8 upgrades ... but, before you do check out the link on this tweet ...

It usually takes longer for the plugin writers to update the plugins and if there is incompatability .. your plugins will deactivate, and probably your theme will switch automatically to the ../default/ themes folder.
Btw -- I rename my ../wp-content/themes/default/ to .../themes/default.original/ etc ... and copy my theme into a new ../default/.. folder
