I am currently trying add a wordpress blog to my blog catalog profile but when I use the BC widget in the second step it puts a blog post into my blog. This really does not look good as I have a one page per post blog and it looks really stupid with a whole post just showing the BC widget.
purelyphotography.wordpress.com/
The link is for illustrative purposes, I have deleted it now but it comes up with a little widget on a whole page. Can anyone tell me how to get into the coding of wordpress so I can put it in the html somewhere instead?
Thanks
Chrissy

With the BC thing, when creating it, you have the option of getting Wordpress code, right under the first box that says View/Update. And I think you may want it as a widget, in a sidebar of your front page? go to your Admin Panel/Appearance/Widgets then choose Text widget and add the code to that, make sure to Save Changes... its WP's version of Blogger's Add A Gadget

Hi, I don't actually have a sidebar...the whole page is the photo. I think I am going to have to give up on this one, there just doesn't seem to be a way of doing it but many thanks for trying to help.
      Hope your ok btw?

wordpress.com is a multiuser blogging platforum. If we could access the underlying template files (and we can't) then every blog with the same theme would reflect the same edits you made to your own template.

Also note that javascript cannot be used on wp.com blogs

The theme you chose Monotone does not have a sidebar. The solution is simple switch to another theme temporarily. Try the one called Springloaded. After BC has approved the blog switch back to the Monotone theme.

      Thanks very much TT
I thought that perhaps I could get into the html, but even then I hate messing with other peoples scripts. Thanks for the easy solution, I will have another go when I have a little time.

    There's more information here

    and here FAQs link Monotone

There's a huge difference between wp.com and Blogger (blogspot) when it comes to getting support and finding answers to technical questions. The wp.com FAQs are a treasure trove. They are so good that wp.org people frequently use them. What can't be found there can be found in my blog. The wp.com support forum is manned by wp bloggers who are volunteers. They are backed by support staff.

To have complete control over a wp template, one has to hire a webhost and download the software from wordpress.org

I have sent you a shout on an alternative way to prove ownership of the blog so we can approve it. Check your shoutbox and let me know if you have any questions.

This way you don't have to change your theme; it should be a lot simpler.

Just to say that if you are using the free wp site then just chose another theme until you get one that you like and then add the widgets that you wish to use from the Admin page as mentioned by several. If you can host it on your own domain then you have two options:

    1. Download the wp software and upload it via ftp to your root directory on the server your site is hosted on, log in and configure as you please.
    2. If your hosting package has cpanel check to see if you have Fantastico as this comes with wp and its an easy install from there.

The benefit of your own domain is that you add plugins as well as widgets and tweak yur site even more.

Hello there. Chrissymarie's situation has already been resolved by jaybetee. She will simply include a link back to BC in a post.
