If something bad is going to happen in my life, I will not blame the devil nor God because it's the situation that makes my life terrible. If it's because of my carelessness, I will blame myself. But if it's because of the situation which is beyond my control anymore, I will not blame anyone. It is just that there are some things that are beyond my power. Bad things happen because it happens to be bad.

the only reason this came to light is because the oldest girl, who is now 18 or 19, became gravely ill and Josef Fritzl allowed her out of the cellar to go to hospital. the authorities begged for the girl's mother to give them the girl's medical history ... and that's how everything eventually came out.

one of the most horrifying stories i've ever heard.

For the most part your examples are things that we can control, so I would simply take a look at what I am doing wrong and fix it.
Some things are beyond our control and we need to just accept them.
Conversely, I tend to take credit for my successes.

that's just faulty theology to me. but that's my opinion and obviously other people's mileage varies.

"allowed" and "caused" are two very different verbs.

I'm not taking any position on the question as a whole, and I don't even know who those women you're citing as an example are, but the initial statement and the response encompass two very different concepts.

really? so elisabeth and kristen fritzl in austria should look upon their situation as something caused/allowed (EDIT) by gxd to make them stronger?

that's a really ... mmm ... i don't know how to put it politely, so i'll just say that's a VERY different view of gxd than my own.

EDIT:
i mistyped earlier and meant to say "allowed" which in cases this heinous, really seem to be the same to me. (not in every case, but at this particular level, yes.)

Just for the record, the things you describe aren't the things that Christians refer to as "works of the devil", either. I'm not sure whether you genuinely misunderstand the concept or this is the same tired old twisting in the name of bashing Christianity that we see so often here, but just in case anyone is interested in little things like accuracy, this is a serious misrepresentation of the concept.

It's interesting that you used the word "blame". Blame or "being lame" is, of course, what replaces taking personal responsibility for our own choices of thoughts, words and actions, as well as, the consequences thereof.

I do not believe that there is now or has ever been any such a being" as a cosmic bad guy called "the devil" nor do I believe in the notion of a cosmic good guy a"GOD".

IMO fearful religious zealots and other "lame" people, who excel at blaming others for their mistakes simply utilize this antiquated notion of a "cosmic bad guy" as a scapegoat. Remarkably, the same folks who believe in such a cosmic bad guy also believe in a cosmic good guy and have the temerity to state that they also believe the latter is in control of the entire universe and everything and everyone in it.

IMO the human race and the planet would benefit if these notions disappeared into the ethereal mist forevermore.
